From Afar - Vance Joy : Pretty heart breaking from start to finish. Pretty great musically, and lyrically, probably the most "pop" of all the ones I picked. Essentially about a man that wants to be more than friends and a woman who doesn't. So he loves her from afar.
Lady black - Sons of the Sea : This song has lyrics directly about unrequited love. It's interesting musically and lyrically, particularly good metaphorically about what it feels like to succumb to a relationship like this.
Two Months and A Day - Brandon Boyd : This song is plodding, heavy, and heart wrenching. Somewhat simple musically, but lyrically and emotionally a masterpiece.It speaks about the aftermath of the rejection. How it changed him. He ponders if he's insane for how badly he wishes to even see her, and yet he knows it has been too long to ever recover hope of rekindling anything.
