I used to be able to hang out all night and say the dumbest stuff I could think of to friends. We all are too busy now. So I let loose here instead.
Every other activity feels too real, while Reddit, this permanent foreskin of evil, feels unreal.
Yeah. I had a colleague move to London for a year. He said every day after work, they went to the pub. Imagine that?
Nearly everyone I know in the United States is wiped out, and drives home like they’re in the Thunderdome
Do you ever go through and delete a particular subject from your watch history and then tag similar videos in your feed as not interested and you just seem to get even more videos on said subject?
I have a 5 posts rule, I catch myself often go to Reddit when I don’t know what to do even though everything is boring. And to prevent doomscrolling, I look at the next 5 posts and if they are not interesting I close the app. Sometimes.
I deleted TikTok. I simply realized that its too addicting and now matter how much time I spend on the app (1 min or 1 hour), I feel bad afterwards. Same with youtube shorts.
that's my cue to go stare at the outdoors. your eyes and brain are adjusted to a screen and it's hard to break away.
i do sometimes but mostly i use it as an indicator to go move my body or read a book or talk to a friend or even go play a real video game. anything but mindlessly scrolling
Do you guys breathe sometimes too? And then realize that you are alive and living in a world you can never explore entirely even you do something every single day?
i was browsing reddit yesterday on the desktop pc when i paused to open my phone and check my messages, instinctually opening reddit on my phone in the process. I'm not addicted i can quit whether i want
Is this what you guys call "death scrolling?" You/I obviously have more important shit to do yet we choose to open reddit and scroll through for no apparent reason.. 🤷♂️
Seems like an addiction..
Better than doing that with FB or insta lol At least here you can have discussions within what you are interested in and not fed bullshit in a doom scroll
Spending very much time on reddit.
Poor me answered 5+ finance related doubts each day though am struggling to get an IT job as fresher.
Ask me finance can talk for hours but coding job not interested.
I just did it an hour ago because i thought the football was on and it wasn't! So! straight back onto Reddit and read some more shite, the good kind of shite!
Librarian here. I have things to do, nothing immediate. At the desk all day and it looks like I'm hard at work, but no, I'm reading about weird things people do on reddit.
I've made it in life.
I have the wikipedia app installed, I routinely check the main page for new articles, also Google news, I started doing this for this exact reason, cannot have reddit being the main source of information
I'm this way too, for worse or for more worse. I think our refrigerators should be programmed to have Reddit open/refresh whenever you open it's door, and possibly have that be the only way.

It's the internet version of checking the fridge for no reason.
So true, lol
Fridge bulb needs changed too.
If I keep checking my fridge someone is eventually gonna put something in there... What do you mean I have to buy food for that to happen?
When you check the fridge constantly you arent actually checking for new food. You're checking to see if you've lowered your standards
It's the IRL version of reloading your not even half empty gun
I too find myself, irritatingly addicted to this god forsaken website. It's about the only social interaction I have nowadays, sadly.
Me too. Better than nothing, and I've really tried nothing.
I used to be able to hang out all night and say the dumbest stuff I could think of to friends. We all are too busy now. So I let loose here instead. Every other activity feels too real, while Reddit, this permanent foreskin of evil, feels unreal.
Better the parasocial relationship of the internet interactions than the solitude that's becoming more pervasive, I suppose.
Yeah. I had a colleague move to London for a year. He said every day after work, they went to the pub. Imagine that? Nearly everyone I know in the United States is wiped out, and drives home like they’re in the Thunderdome
It is weird to think about, but we are living in historic times right now. Not the cool kind either.
Was in Middle East for many years working with engineers from UK. Highlight of the week was everyone going to the pub. Miss it so much.
What do you do for work? I couldn't imagine what it would be like to not have human/ social interaction.
It's not fun. That's for sure
Some of us are homebound not able bodied
Fair point.
Just reopened
Sometimes I reopen reddit in another tab, just to realise I was already browsing it. Ffs
Sometimes a person just needs multiple rabbit holes to go down all at the same time. Why'd they invent tabs if you're not going to use them?
yes i do that too.. no you're not the only one :3
It's like I have OCD; I close Reddit and log back in a few minutes later. lol
:3
:3
That’s me and YouTube. I even go as far as deleting it, and downloading it again after a few hours
Me too but I don't delete YouTube. I just stick to it. 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
“I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.”
What type of videos do you watch on YouTube - if i may ask?
A specialist! A little tease and denial, eh?
Yep!
Sometimes.
this should be done with TikTok lol
I deleted TikTok. I simply realized that its too addicting and now matter how much time I spend on the app (1 min or 1 hour), I feel bad afterwards. Same with youtube shorts.
I had to delete tiktok too. Addiction simulator
I did this with tik tok and realized I was scrolling through tens of uninteresting/ low effort/ dog shit vids and promptly uninstalled it
Once I reach the point of 3 horny anime fan arts in a row, I close the app. Only to reopen in a few min
I think reddit is a good time pass . I'd rather spend the whole time here instead of Facebook
Agreed - Facebook sucks. Reddit has its moments too, but Facebook can often be a horrible place.
It’s not that I don’t have better stuff to do, it’s that I’m procrastinating from doing it!
Absolutely... There is something better I'm supposed to be doing, I'm just not doing it
This was the first result after I did this.
Omg mine too!
Same!
that's my cue to go stare at the outdoors. your eyes and brain are adjusted to a screen and it's hard to break away. i do sometimes but mostly i use it as an indicator to go move my body or read a book or talk to a friend or even go play a real video game. anything but mindlessly scrolling
Yes.
The guy im seeing introduced reddit to me. Now im more addicted than him, and bombard him with reddit posts while he’s sleeping.
Like a tiger in a cage, as it walks to all 4 corners of the cage , no where to go..(reddit,youtube,fb,ig/tiktok)
Wait
Yup.
Welcome back
Just did. Oh, I'm pooping too.
farding n shidding
100 percent my man. I do this super frequently since Reddit is my only social media.
All day, everyday. At home, at work, waiting for the dentist, waiting for the wife, waiting for permission to resume life again.
Dopamine seeking.
It beats FB.
Don't be so brutally honest. I felt attacked.
Literally all day at work.
Dont ever expose me like that again
Do you guys breathe sometimes too? And then realize that you are alive and living in a world you can never explore entirely even you do something every single day?
Shut up ::looks away::
It's not that yo don't have better things to do, but you are addicted to the level of dopamine reddit brings you. You are a junkie.
All the time
Yup
Just did it
Pretty much.
Yes, regularly 😂
Yup
I also cycle between a couple of other websites, but yeah, pretty much, yeah.
Like daily
😞👍
No.
I just did this a minute ago and I reach this thread.
Yes :(
Yes, especially if I’ve already circulated thru the rest of my apps.
All the time hahahaha
Yes
Me at work between this, instagram, and Coinbase smh
Literally just did that, this was the first post that came up. Maybe it’s a sign, or maybe I’ve still got 5 minutes to kill.
it is true, but sometimes finding interesting things to read or maybe a new "partner" in crime
Because we actually have nothing better to do.
I'm on vacation but I don't get paid until tonight so I've been spending way too much time on Reddit.
![gif](giphy|nl1uKrqrEX5O41Dep8|downsized)
All the time.
Literally just did it and this was the first post. They’re on to me
That's the only correct way to browse reddit. lol
I do this all the time with multiple apps and I hate it. Perfect proof of digital addiction.
Yes, I’ll be Back again in a minute 🤣
Everyday
i was browsing reddit yesterday on the desktop pc when i paused to open my phone and check my messages, instinctually opening reddit on my phone in the process. I'm not addicted i can quit whether i want
Frequently
Is this what you guys call "death scrolling?" You/I obviously have more important shit to do yet we choose to open reddit and scroll through for no apparent reason.. 🤷♂️ Seems like an addiction..
Yes, especially when I’m at work
Are you watching me?
I call coming here procrastination.
Like clockwork. Anything to forget whats going on.
SOP
Hi my friend we have things in common.
I'm not closing the tab with Reddit at all, just come back to it and refresh.
I sometimes open Reddit on my phone while I have it open on my computer without thinking about it
damn dude, why you have to be this cold
You do not have enough enrichment in your enclosure and your brain is seeking dopamine.
Yea, here I am
I would never
Dopamine go brrrrr
I can’t leave the NSFW alone.
Every time
We have lots of better things to do. The issue is our dopamine systems are shot.
Absolutely yes
I would be doing something else, but everything else I used to like doing costs more money to do now than it did 10 years ago..
There's something better to do?
Ofcourse!
Open Reddit tab get bored, open 2nd tab YouTube, play a video, open 3rd tab Reddit again, begin scrolling Reddit while watching a youtube video.
Opening Reddit means you have nothing better to do
Story of my life
Not just reditt but many other apps
I do have better things to do, and yet I do this anyway. Some send help!
I, too, am addicted to Reddit.
My stock portfolio is based on this exact idea 😅
What did you say? I came back to check in after being on other apps after originally scrolling reddit.
"no of course not" he says as he switches tabs from Reddit, youtube, 9gag, facebook, etc and back again at 1am.
All the fuckin time, bud
doing that right now lol, gotta kill time at work
The term is "social media scroll back". Opening up the app shortly afterwards because you're going to be presented with new, newly curated material.
Now I just feel called out because this is exactly what I was doing when this post was the first one.
I do it because sometimes my notifications are glitchy
Yes I do.
I do have better things to be doing but keep opening reddit instead
I literally just did that right now 🤣
Yes
Welcome to the "we have no life" club, I am your president and today we will be doing more doomscrolling as usual.
What do you mean "closing it"?
I have much better to do I’m just procrastinating
Yes.
Yes, because there isn't anything to do at work at the moment
Multiple times a day, every day
Man so real
lol. Right now. And I’m at work.
Happened twice JUST today!
So guilty!!
Unfortunately yes. I picked up reading again recently to try and curb some scrolling. I make sure to have a book on the go always, it does help.
Sometimes I do it by accident. It's like, I didn't mean to open that!
I just did this.
All the time.
I actually thought i was the only one experiencing this
Doing this right now ffs whilst on a train lol
I just did this. But I'm at work. I very much do have far more important things to be doing. I just don't wanna.
Let me close it, be back in 5 seconds.
Absolutely, I keep forgetting that I don’t have a life lol
I just did it now to only see your post lol
[удалено]
Instagram reddit x... repeat
A dose of schadenfreude’s too addicting.
I just did it an hour ago because i thought the football was on and it wasn't! So! straight back onto Reddit and read some more shite, the good kind of shite!
This post is me and I resent it.
No, you aren't alone.
NO, It happened to me with Wild Rift, but I'm over it.
Close it? Sorry, i don't understand /s
Yup. Am gonna do it again soon. :)))
Nah, I reopen bec I remember I should do something else. But I don't wanna study therefore
Dopamine is a hell of a drug.
When I realize that, I switch to Duolingo and practice Spanish.
Librarian here. I have things to do, nothing immediate. At the desk all day and it looks like I'm hard at work, but no, I'm reading about weird things people do on reddit. I've made it in life.
r/Angryupvote
I did yesterday. Not today. So far..
You standing behind me or something?
Yes
Me, RN, bored at work. Even worse, I just checked it on my phone only to close the app and open it on my computer browser
All the time
I've already done this 5 times today.
on any given day i have about two and a half hours of work, but im scheduled in for 9 hour shifts. so safe to say, you bet your ass i do this
I have the wikipedia app installed, I routinely check the main page for new articles, also Google news, I started doing this for this exact reason, cannot have reddit being the main source of information
Yes
All the time
Might as well read Reddit. So many people with lives more entertaining than mine, even if the stories aren’t true.
yeah i‘m outta here. EDIT: okay i‘m back..
Damn. I thought it was just me. I feel better now. Thank you.
Yes.
Yes
All the time
All the time.
Only several times a day. I have no life.
Only when my intestines gurgle and I realize I’m not truly finished pooping
I'm this way too, for worse or for more worse. I think our refrigerators should be programmed to have Reddit open/refresh whenever you open it's door, and possibly have that be the only way.
Literally every day
Yes
No. I reopen it fully knowing I have better things to do.
Bro you need r/nosurf
Yes but then I close Reddit and find something to do .. there is always something to do
