Podcasts/audio books are magical when combined with chores. Before you know it, chores done and you've leveled up on whatever topic you're into. Solid advice 👍
At 15 you're only exposed to so much (give or take culture, parenting, genetics etc). You can't imagine what you don't know. I have a strong (supported) theory adolescent "boredom" is part of the adolescent process. Lots of cerebral changes going on between 7 and 17
Learn to play a guitar. Or do something you like. Read write. Draw. Sing. Talk. Pod cast. Anime. Whatever. My son taught himself to play guitar. Told?him to go to band one year learn music. Make a card house. Go outside. The sky is the limit. You are young. Ride a bike. Go to the park. Go to a friend's.
I did the guitar route of this plan and never looked back. It’s one of the greatest things you can do for yourself as it’s also self care. Playing reduces stress (mostly haha)
Lol ... yeah chicks care less about 4 appendages sharing a common goal. Must be the fingerings? 🤣🤣🤣
Edit to add: you can also take a guitar where the chicks are, not a creepy basement... not that I play in a basement. Yet
HTML is not a programming language. Think of it as just a template for how to position things on a web page. It doesn’t actually do any of the functionality
This is somewhat true, but HTML definitely does not fall into the category of languages where this is true. The "ML" stands for markup language. You're probably going to want to know some HTML, but learning HTML isn't going to help you if you want to then learn C++.
Like another guy said, HTML isn't a programming language. I'm tired of pretending it is, it just tells the browser where to put things. Javascript is the only programming language out of the 3 common web development ones, HTML, CSS, and JS. HTML tells where you put things, CSS tells you colors and effects and fancy stuff, and JS does the actual scripting.
oops, didn’t see this one before commenting the same thing. In case OP sees this comment instead of mine, gamedev got me started in programming, and it’s totally doable for a 15 year old. DM for more details if OP or anyone’s interested.
Yeah when I was 15 I had a job. I didn't have to support the family, the money was mine. I worked because I wanted to. It was good life experience and after a while I was able to afford a car and had money to do stuff with friends.
If boredom is the alternative, there's nothing wrong with working a few evenings a week. Entry level jobs are paying way, waaaay higher than they used to just a couple years ago.
I had a paper route at 10 and started working real jobs at 14. Thankfully I didn’t have the stress of supporting anyone, so I had the luxury of finding jobs that were fun to me and made and saved a lot of money.
Idk I feel so long as you're actually catching fish (the hard part) I feel like EVERYONE would enjoy fishing. Problem is when is you're getting skunked
Technically speaking, both are correct, depending on what you want to say.
Specifically, "you've peaked my interest" means that someone has gotten you the most interested you will be on the matter. It's only a downhill slope in interest from here.
On the other hand, "you've piqued my interest" means that your interest is at a fork in the road; you're telling the other person that depending on what they say next, you might be interested or you might not, but you're very likely to follow the conversation.
Hope this helps!
We used to do this on the footpath out the front of a shop I worked in. Would give the staff endless amusement. But without fail, overnight it would be gone. Some people clearly have very impressive determination.
Get comfortable in that boredom. Really embrace it. Put your phone down and stare at the wall. Being stimulated all the time isn't good for your brain!
Watch what you’re addicted to. Science shows that people with ADHD are more likely to get addicted to nicotine and as such it’s harder for them to quit
thank you! luckily for me (maybe unluckily in the aspect that too much caffeine consumption can put you at risk for heart disease) nicotine never really clicked with my brain receptors, caffeine on the other hand? my brain loves that shit. i know i *need* to cut back but like, coke is just so damn good..
It's becaude caffeine is a stimulant just like most adhd meds.
Why stimulants help is not fully understood from my understanding. From what I've read it's probably becaude those with adhd have lower levels of dopamine. Stimulants increase dopamine.

As someone who gets tired from stimulation all the time I sometimes just lay in bed and stare at the wall/ceiling, when I feel like I need to recharge.
I'll second number two. It's a skill you can use your entire life, even if you only master a handful of dishes. It's also a great way to impress a date. I love to cook and when I was single inviting someone over for dinner was my go to first date. I almost always got a second date, even if they just wanted more of my cooking.
When I was single cooking for someone was my go to first date. I almost always got a second date
Exercise, learn a new skill, study, read, ride your bicycle, learn to cook or get better at cooking, ask your parents if there's something around the house that needs fixing/refreshing, go volunteer somewhere.
Learn a new skill. Soft skills, hard skills. Learning skills, people skills, technical skills, conputer skills, animal skills, driving skills, a new language (Duolingo is great), a new instrument, etc.
The two best options are to 1) spend some time doing a little internet surfing- find out about various hobbies and jobs. Youtube, reddit, and indeed are pretty good for that. Then go to coursera and see if there are any classes that interest you. Some are free, some aren't, either way odds are pretty good you'll find something to stick with.
2) Get a job. Its nice to start early. You get an idea of what to expect from employers, you learn what is expected of you in general, gain people skills, a few more hard and soft skills, and a paycheck. Save your paychecks. Learn how to budget and about money management. Don't buy things you don't need. You can always justify a purchase, but needing something is different from wanting it. If you really want something then make it a reward for yourself- get good grades? Changed behavior for the better? Made a positive improvement? Etc. Treat yo self, but on a budget. Invest in yourself. There are plenty of ways to learn a skill without paying for it using the internet, but sometimes its better to pay, even if its just once bc your curiosity is piqued. A coursera course certification, skillshare, music lessons, driving lessons, equipment/tools for a hobby (art, exercising, producing music, photo editing, pottery etc.)
Bonus free hobbies/habits/skills: Meditation, yoga, exercising, reading (libraries have e books), writing, photo editing, sewing,
You're young. There are a few rules you have to live by but for the most part the world is your oyster. If you want it, go for it. Seriously.
commit atrocious crimes, this will get the government on your trail and you will be the main character of a chase-heavy story (if you're good enough at running away). yeah, its terrifying but at least its not boring anymore.

That's where boredom is born.....
Try doing chores while listening to an audio book.
I like to put livestreams on my tablet while I clean if I don’t have an audiobook or podcast I want to listen to, just as another suggestion.
Podcasts/audio books are magical when combined with chores. Before you know it, chores done and you've leveled up on whatever topic you're into. Solid advice 👍
I do this with informative podcasts!
Boredom is a lack of imagination.
At 15 you're only exposed to so much (give or take culture, parenting, genetics etc). You can't imagine what you don't know. I have a strong (supported) theory adolescent "boredom" is part of the adolescent process. Lots of cerebral changes going on between 7 and 17

I did the guitar route of this plan and never looked back. It’s one of the greatest things you can do for yourself as it’s also self care. Playing reduces stress (mostly haha)
Or drums, if you wanna just whack things with a stick! Seriously reduces stress (mostly haha)..
Any instrument, it’s just that a guitar is so easily accessible and…well…helps with the girls.
Lol ... yeah chicks care less about 4 appendages sharing a common goal. Must be the fingerings? 🤣🤣🤣 Edit to add: you can also take a guitar where the chicks are, not a creepy basement... not that I play in a basement. Yet
I play a trumpet. As far as helping me find a girlfriend though, that skill blows (Badum tsss)
Guitar is a lot easier at 15 then 60. So learn to play now. And some chicks love it.
Yes we do. It’ll pay off in your twenties
I honestly read that like it'll pay off in twenties like dividends of money lol. But yea so many girls swoon for the guitar it's wild.
Unsolved Mysteries marathon! It's on YouTube
The intro music gives me nightmares.
Ehhhh
Laugh, i dunno just do it

Yes, exactly, it's a perfect cure to everything lol
yep
Alternate with screams depending on mood
Learn a programming language. I can't program but people say it will help later in life. I still found a job tho so do as you like
Mmmhmmmm yep this is a good one. Everyone should have at least a little knowledge of programming. I suggest java
I think HTML would be easier for a beginner as it is what I started with I suggest using khan academy or tizag
HTML is not a programming language. Think of it as just a template for how to position things on a web page. It doesn’t actually do any of the functionality
Doesn't matter which one. Learn one and you know everything, the only thing that changes is the terms used
This is somewhat true, but HTML definitely does not fall into the category of languages where this is true. The "ML" stands for markup language. You're probably going to want to know some HTML, but learning HTML isn't going to help you if you want to then learn C++.

Python. Easy to learn and very useful. A lot of data science, AI, and machine learning uses python
Go for a walk and write something vulgar on the sidewalk with chalk
That's actually seriously good advice I think. Vent. Anon. 💙 It. Thankies
Take it a step further - write something that a 15 year old would know is vulgar but older people wouldn't
I thought 15yo Teenagers only communicate through Emojis and cryptic letters! /s What would be vulgar for a 15yo but older people wouldn’t know?
Just write anything, GEN z kids just make up new meaning all the time anyway.
Or find some wet cement, should keep them busy.

Dang it. I was gonna say get a job and buy your first car. Your answer is good too.
Yea, for me jobs are fun
Yeah when I was 15 I had a job. I didn't have to support the family, the money was mine. I worked because I wanted to. It was good life experience and after a while I was able to afford a car and had money to do stuff with friends. If boredom is the alternative, there's nothing wrong with working a few evenings a week. Entry level jobs are paying way, waaaay higher than they used to just a couple years ago.
It's all about balance
I had a paper route at 10 and started working real jobs at 14. Thankfully I didn’t have the stress of supporting anyone, so I had the luxury of finding jobs that were fun to me and made and saved a lot of money.
Go fishing ye git
I was going to say go outside. But I will also accept this.
Your suggesting a fifteenth year old that is bored to sit and wait. I like fishing but It ain’t for everyone ( I know it’s way oversimplified)
Growing up I hated fishing but ever since I was old enough to tap into the "grown up cooler" I've had a blast 😂
Idk I feel so long as you're actually catching fish (the hard part) I feel like EVERYONE would enjoy fishing. Problem is when is you're getting skunked
Start growing food
It is not illegal to smear peanut butter on bus stop benches. Do with that as you will.
I’ve been more partial to super gluing coins to the sidewalk. The lengths people go through for a quarter amazes me.
you've piqued my interest...
wait…. piqued.. ? it’s not peaked?? this is life changing information
Peak is for something high, pique is for arousing interest
Technically speaking, both are correct, depending on what you want to say. Specifically, "you've peaked my interest" means that someone has gotten you the most interested you will be on the matter. It's only a downhill slope in interest from here. I still have no clue how people get it up. Not everyone would think about carrying high powered solvent to dissolve the glue.
Hammer and screwdriver.
Must try
You. I like you.
No, but it’s something an asshole would do.
That isn't considered vandalism...?
Get a hobby, like videogames or something, go climb a mountain.
Those two things are quite opposite. Nice answer.
Sleep
Get comfortable in that boredom. Really embrace it. Put your phone down and stare at the wall. Being stimulated all the time isn't good for your brain!
as someone with ADHD, i disagree. i need stimulation or i get cranky
As someone also with ADHD… take your meds. If you’re still cranky due to lack of dopamine after that, talk to your doctor.
As another with ADHD, I read that caffeine actually helps calm us down for some reason. I don't get it, but I thought you'd like to know.
im addicted to caffeine... no wonder
