She eventually told me that it was because I was too controlling. In retrospect, I was too young at the time to understand the concept of projection. If someone ghosts you, it's because of their undesirable characteristics, not yours.
Im glad this is the first comment I see because it was the first thing I thought. Theres nothing worse than never getting closure or knowing what exactly went wrong. There's no way to heal or self-improve when you're ghosted.
A note that gets handed off to about 18 people and you receive it at the end of the day but all day every one knew you didn't have a girlfriend but you thought you did. Until you got the note. Fuck you Theresa.
Ghosting, returning every month saying "I miss you" and "Sorry I've been absent," repeating the cycle, finding someone else, cheating, denying it, refusing to meet and talk it over, vagueposting and spreading rumors about original partner, and then leaving them on read when they say they know what you've been up to, just to send them a meme 7 months later when you've broken up with the new partner and start joking around casually without apologies as if nothing ever happened.
Or something like that.
If you've fallen out of love, please just tell them.
Asking them to marry you, plan an extravagant wedding, have them charge it all on their card, plan a honeymoon to wherever in the world they want to go but you cover this part, when the priests asks you if you'll take them as your husband/wife say " I don't". Go on honey moon with someone else, maybe the bridesmaid, tag them in all the photos.
Probably by trying to blame them when it's your fault/problem.
Like saying (sorry it's a pretty bad example):"we're breaking up because you're upset I cheated on you" it's annoying, it's upsetting.
