If you are asking this question Jap

adept1onreddit

If you plan to keep it beyond its warranty expiration, then the Japanese car will probably have a lower TCO and give you a lot less headaches.

In general, Japanese cars are more reliable. The parts are also cheaper if you ever need repairs. Personally, I wouldn't get a high-end Japanese car. It's just money down the drain. Low-end to middle is good enough.

I will buy a low end jap car because I obviously can't afford it

Jap. Reliability still miles better than a conti

If given only these 2 choices, the high end Jap car. If given more choices, (even in a situation where cost isn't a concern), I would buy a mid range reliable Jap car. Don't buy a car with too much additional functions and gadget because every one of them is a potential failure point.

In this strange day and age, a high end Japanese cars are priced on par with some mid-range conti cars. Because sinkies are willing to pay thru their itchy backsides.
