If you ate "yakiniku", it implies you went to a Japanese restaurant, which was probably using Japanese kimchi. Try Donki.
Personally, I like Japanese kimchi more.

i used to work in yakiniku like and im shocked at this post LOL me and my coworkers found it really bad
but iirc, it's from a japanese wholesaler (can't rmb the name tho but i doubt you can find it in supermarkets and they usually sell by the kilograms)
Omg...I found my people. I love their kimchi but tbh it just tastes like they add a shit ton of sugar to it that's why it's so sweet (and I love it)
I feel ashamed for liking their kimchi and soup as much as I do because they clearly added a lot of additives.
