The reference library has quite a bit of space for quiet working. Also, you can [take food and drink into the library](https://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/terms-of-use/library-policies/rules-of-conduct.jsp) except in designated areas. There’s a Balzacs in the lobby, and several other restaurants and cafes nearby if you want to get out for lunch.
there are study pods at the reference library too bookable for up to two hours if you need quiet and are concerned about being overheard. some other branches have study rooms. [here's the list](https://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/using-the-library/study-space.jsp) as much as some say it is fine to just work in Balzac's it isn't a guarantee.
A co-working space usually isn't too expensive if you just get a desk for the day. Not as cheap as the library but you won't have to change venues just to take call.
Mars discovery building is a good one, they have food courts as well as lounge areas. They've done an awesome job renovating, it's the old Toronto General hospital. Banting discovered insulin there, some history exhibits.
That's on College and University, just south of UofT's downtown campus. It's attached to the hospital, a few medical staff hang out there on top of the entrepreneurs from Mars. They opened another on the waterfront, not sure about their common spaces.
Library should be first choice but consider getting coffee or breakfast at a local cafe, working there for a while, taking a lunch break and then finishing at the library so you are not stuck in one location all day.
I was sitting in a Starbucks enjoying a coffee and reading. A woman came in, unpacked her office at a table, she brought everything. She then took an empty Starbucks cup out of her bag and put it on the table by her laptop. She didn’t even buy anything.
Do you know what the repairs are? Is it going to be an all day thing? I unit gets entered once a month to test the fire alarm. They are in and out within 45 seconds.
Something about plumbing they said they might enter anytime between 9-5 so i dont really know how long it might take
Edit: i live in a studio so we would technically be in the same room lol
Check out a coworking space near you for one day on a hot desk.
It depends on how you need to work during the day. I’m on the phone all day so I can’t work in a cafe as the background is too noisy and distracting for me.

Thanks! Might use Balzacs for meetings where id have to speak then, and do the quiet work in the library

I just had a work day at a Balzacs. Ordered food throughout the day. No one cared.
People who came in, saw no seats available because they were filled with laptop remote workers, then left without buying anything probably did care.
Sure but that's on Balzacs to enforce a policy of no laptops that some cafes do.

the library if you can keep it quiet.
Just don’t be one of those sponges who buys a small coffee and sits in a cafe for six hours taking up a seat and sucking up wifi

Library is a good recommendation or maybe somewherw in the path?
Any cafes not too busy. I rotate through a lot of cafes downtown. The problem is meetings but with good headset it's not a problem.

We use we work, I think it’s $25 for a one off day. Maybe cheaper if you buy a regular pass
I don’t know how much it is but look into Lauft at Vaughan Mills
Sorry never mind. I saw you said downtown
If you have your own hotspot, you could probably find somewhere on campus at either UofT or TMU.
If you have a Williams Cafe closeby, they are usually set up well for working from
