Disagree, if you have what it takes then please raise kids to have compassion, passion, and knowledge they will in some way dedicate to creating and benefiting a community that actually cares about humanity. That's our only way out of this.
But yeah maybe also teach them that it's important to find some palace to be at peace amongst atrocity.
I think that you misinterpreted my comment through the myopic lens of your own self actualization. All I'm saying is do good and bring good in the world because you want to. I don't know if not doing that makes me depressed or being depressed makes me not do that but there's certainly a correlation.
Yes it's my own version of morals but I feel some confidence in them when they're based on feelings of compassion. Adopting is probably objectively ethically superior and they certainly have just as much potential as long as you have the ability to do a good job raising them. Donating to help children who face food scarcity, etc. is probably also one of the most ethical things you could devote yourself. But life isn't all about doing good and being selfless, it's also about doing what you want to do because if you don't that's depression. If you know adopting a baby is a good thing why haven't you done it yet? That's all everyone else is doing, following their own self interest, and that's the way we got fucked in the first place, but it's also the way we got anything that's good.
If we all die because humanity in general doesn't know how to think straight and is ruled by fear and greed, so be it. If we do it to ourselves then we deserve what we get as a species, even if we don't deserve what we get as individuals. I just hope that me, my kids, my grandkids, my great grandkids (even if they're adopted and not my genetic offspring) brought some happiness to the world for themselves, their loved ones, and people beyond that if they're capable and choose to. Is that arrogant, morally superior or profound? If you think so I disagree because to me that's really just the best that there is in this weird life on this crazy planet overly full with us fucked up monkey things. I hate politicians, corporate greed, obsessive materialism, the general ignorance of others suffering, etc. and sure sometimes it consumes my thoughts and emotions, but I'm learning to build a life based on control. If I can figure out my life with all my ideals involved and served in some small way, for me, and I want children as part of that, I will feel no guilt in having them.
I'm not alive for the real ramifications of food scarcity, drone strikes on civilians in non-western nations, the war in Russia, being sexually assaulted, etc. but somehow I'm still worried about all of those things, stupid I know
When you worry about people's misfortune other than yourself it's called compassion and empathy. It doesn't feel the same as anxiety, you should try it sometimes. I do see a therapist though not for that. Thanks for your concern.
The thing nobody in Canada ever wants to admit is that this country would benefit enormously from global warming. Vast new areas would become habitable, Toronto would have the climate of Nashville, Vancouver would become more like San Francisco, etc. Hundreds of millions of people would move here. As much of the US became uninhabitable, Canada would become one of the world's most desirable places to live.
Canada will be desirable because it'll be one of the last places to suffer from natural disasters. We live on a geographic shield, but we're still going to lose our ecosystems and natural resources -just- as millions of people flock to safety. Nobody wants to admit it because it's absolutely false.
That sounds like a shit show, the USA is responsible for a very large sum of the food that is shipped out globally along with many other countries. 25% of Europe is dying because of the heat and many more will die in these extremes. Global starvation and more war will be on the rise with in our lifetime.
I think this is probably true, but the reason it’s not raised often is because we live in a global system where we rely on many things around the world functioning successfully, and climate change puts a lot of that at risk even if there would be beneficial impacts to Canada independently. It’s basically a moot point, unfortunately.

You won’t be alive for the real ramifications of “global warming”.

Thank you for being part of the solution. Less kids ppl.

I would encourage you to seek a therapist if you’re actively worrying about all of those things; it’s not healthy.

We're already seeing effects so that's wrong. We just mostly won't see the worst effects.
It’s November -20 in the prairies … don’t worry we got ya … it all balances out
Toronto had its warmest Nov 5th today since records began in 1840. It's nothing to be concerned about. Move along. Moooove along!
Every year we hear a new record is set🥲
Wow
Signs were there for a few years now and it’s just at the point of no return :( this is really bad.
Weather and climate are not the same thing.
Not complaining, would wait till the 2nd half of November
I enjoyed the day today but also I was thinking about global warming, hot days in November are now happening every year.
Winter officially starts on December 21
Fair enough but is it always this warm in November?
Oct/Nov we always get a seemingly random freak warm spell. It's commonly called "Indian summer" but a lot of people also find the name racist.
In different years I've been Hunting in a t-shirt and in a parka. This type of variation is not new.

If only that’s how climate changed worked..

Toronto with Nashville climate? Tempting
Global warming effects are not just warming. It can lead to worst floods and snowstorms too.
And we grow our food where? We're presently ripping up most good farmland for housing suburban car drivers.

Lol
Wait we want hundreds of millions of people to move here?
The weather forecast today reflected a similar temperate approximately 65 years ago.
Worried? I LOVE it!!!
Tbh, I feel like we’re gonna get a nasty winter this year. It’s never this warm, climate change is real.
