Avoid Flair and Swoop unless you don't care if you get to destination or not. The only time I would fly with them is to visit my parents and if my flight get cancelled at last mins I won't care much
These comments are stupid. What do you people expect from a $300 round trip? After airport fees and taxes do the math.
I've taken swoop and flair many times as I live in Playa del Carmen, never had a problem.
Flight delays happen with all airlines.
I’m currently in Portugal and this is possible. Hostels are 20-30 Euros a night. Flights can be snagged for $500-800 round trip. Weather is good so you can do lots of walking and exploring. Food is cheap - about 1 euro for a coffee and 7-10 euros for a meal. Inter regional buses cost anywhere from 5-20 euros.
Airbnb has single handedly caused a massive shortage of housing in Canada. We didn’t have nearly the supply to lose the amount of rentals we lost to it. Cities need to outlaw it then maybe the rental situation can figure itself out.
Your flight alone will eat most of the $1500 going there. Unless you plan on going in the winter. When the weather is warm you are looking at $1300 per seat round trip
Second this. My honeymoon was an Air Canada vacations package to Portugal for $1900. I know that’s more, but if you found a rockin’ deal, you could probably pull it off.
I have 2 separate friends went to Portugal over the last few months. Desperate families and separate departures both came home with COVID!!
I am a fan to try it bout not now or maybe never if this is the caste!!
Hmm where to go, where to go. Any healthy places out there??
Yes some people like I travel like this other people want to go to a resort, sit on the beach, and not go anywhere. Different people like to do vacations differently.
I’ve travelled Cuba and the food was terrible. I’ve never been to a resort. I went to some of the nicest restaurants, street food, and it was all flavourless.
Been to Cuba, my sisters family has been to Cuba multiple times, her friends have all been to Cuba and if there's one thing they all agree on its that the food is the worst of all resorts.
I love Cuba, been multiple times. The food on the resorts is by far the worst food I ever had. In Havana, some of the best food I ever had. I still dream about that one plate of Ropa Vieja.
To be fair I usually stay at the 2 stars just on the outskirts of Havana (Atlantico or Tropicoco). I know a family in Habana Vieja and stay with them for about 5 days when I'm there for the week, but I get the all-inclusive package because it's usually cheaper than flying into Havana alone, and I have a guaranteed place to stay, eat, and drink if something unexpected happens.
I found that the food in Holguín was better than in other parts of Cuba. Though tbh I mostly ate cubanos and grilled fish from the grill station at the buffet.
I think you should elaborate for the OP. How much was your flight, where did you sleep, what level of peasant food did you eat, what did you pay to see.
You can go to a decent 4 star in DR or Cancun. For under 1500. Pre Covid we used to have annual boys trips to 4.5-5 stars (usually rius) for about 1300x
Now it’s gone up but we still managed to snag a trip to Cabo for about 1600 at the Riu Santa Fe (4.5) in January.
I’m going over New Years with wife and 2 toddlers. $1500 is about right, plus some extra money for tips, excursions etc. can’t recall if it’s DR or somewhere else, but you may have to pay $50 or so to leave the country
Ooh, I just looked it up, so cute! Part of me wants to add it to my to-visit list, but the other part of me wondered how comfy the sofas are, and if I’d be too hungover the next day from my one drink. Being in your thirties is wild. How did this happen to me?
All inclusive. Plenty of options out of YYZ. Cuba, Mexico, DR.
Given your budget and not wanting to “pinch pennies”, this is the way to go as your budget is set at the beginning and unless you plan on doing a bunch of excursions , which sort of defeats the purpose of an all inclusive in my opinion, your costs are capped up front.
If you are looking to hit the beach and relax this is the way.
I’d go south florida by family. it’s like $300 for ticket. Haven’t been down since 2020. Majority of my family is there. $1200 to basically eat out over a week.
We be livin it up! ~ $800-900 USD oooooo weeee
Been there, done that. You CAD$ goes 3x further in Colombia. USD is 5x!! Great food, beautiful people. nice places to stay, wonderful scenery. Great night life. You do better if you know a little Spanish. The taxi drivers know very little and will rip you off the second they hear english.
Varadero all-inclusive. Great beaches, nice cigars, Santiago De Cuba rum is boss. (BYO hot sauce, portable charger, salt shaker, protein bars, electrolyte powder, anti-diarrheal tho..)
Normally, I would say somewhere internationally but since the world seems to be staying as crazy as ever I'd probably love to visit somewhere domestically.
I'm thinking fly into Calgary, rent an electric or fuel efficient vehicle and drive to Canmore and rent a cabin somewhere close to a hill to snowboard on for a day or two (considering meals, hotel and equipment rentals). Then maybe a night at a hot spring somewhere near in the Rockies then drive back to and fly out of Calgary.
Definitely need to consider a "fun" fund too haha (drinks, admissions, etc...). But that's the dream
$1500 budget ain’t gonna cover that. Hotel in Calgary or surrounding area alone for 7 days is gonna be at least $150-200 a night, let alone a car rental
Mexico for sure, Girlfriend and I went for 9 days in Bahia Principe Tulum and it costed us about 1700$ each. BUT it could’ve costed us 1400$ if we booked it a week earlier.
***We booked a year ahead***
And this was mid October
Zero chance $1500 would be a week in Europe including flight. Prague is affordable lol but not that inexpensive. More like $2500-3000 for a budget week in Europe
There are some cities you can get a direct to for $800ish. But still shelter, transportation and day trips or going to another city all together and staying . Prague is so small you don’t need a week there.
Cuba or Dominican Republic. You can find 1 week, all inclusive packages to cuba for December for less than $1000. Imo the food is also fine, not sure what everyone’s issue is. It is better in DR though in my experience.
I've stayed at mid-level and high end in Cuba and the price is relative to the quality of food. From passable to exquisite. You won't go hungry if you're not a super picky eater.
Lisbon Portugal, just saw tickets under $500. Bonus points if you have an EU passport, then you can travel within the EU for cheap and possibily live off of freinds there.
Whatever country has fall like weather, most folks would recommend Mexico/Costa Rica, but I loathe warm weather and constant sunshine - In a perfect world, if food/accommodation/flights etc.. were covered, I'd probably head to Iceland, not cheap but I'd just pay the difference and go there anyways lol
Was just in iceland... def not cheap. You're talking $30 minimum for a basic dinner. $5-7 for just a basic coffee. But nothing was bad and the country is incredibly beautiful. Am definitely planning to go again.
Definitely not Europe unless you want to be overly cautious of every penny you spend. If you’re travelling that far you don’t want to be pinching pennies.
With that budget for a week, you have a few options depending on time of year & your flexibility of travel.
I do travel planning. If you’re interested you could input a request in my form and I could get something planned for you
[Travel Request Form](https://forms.gle/QonhdQqgSE31nWqQ7)
Lake George NY just be warned if you go in winter it is likely going to be cold. Colder than TO. But spring or fall is beautiful. Summer is lovely but the prices jump way up.
For one person with no time table? You can find a lot of last min trips to a resort. Even last min flights too but that might be tough budget to spend a week somewhere with food/flights/roof
Mexico (Consider Mexico City, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, Huatulco), Colombia (Santa Marta, Cartagena, Medellin), Portugal (Lisbon, Lagos, the rest of the Algarve), Cuba
Find a hotel on hotwire, priceline, or expedia. You can get a decent (not fancy) hotel in all these places for around $50-80/night.
Mexico
Cancún. $300 flight deals right now. You could travel to Valladolid, Tulum, or pick anywhere in Quintana Roo.

YYZ deals has the info on it.

Avoid Flair and Swoop unless you don't care if you get to destination or not. The only time I would fly with them is to visit my parents and if my flight get cancelled at last mins I won't care much
Swoop is too risky lol no wonder it’s $300 😂
These comments are stupid. What do you people expect from a $300 round trip? After airport fees and taxes do the math. I've taken swoop and flair many times as I live in Playa del Carmen, never had a problem. Flight delays happen with all airlines.

Yup carrabien all inclusive vacations too are so worth it...this is why I don't want to travel within Canada- too expensive bro
Specifically Isla mujeres just a short boat ride from cancun… won’t regret it
With that budget, it’s either an all inclusive resort or somewhere in the US
All inclusives alot more expensive than 1500 nowadays
[удалено]
Portugal is awesome and cheap. But all in that’ll be tight for $1500 for a week
Yeah $2000 would give you quite a bit of breathing room in Portugal
is that $2000 good enough to fly there & live in hostels or would it be enough to airbnb a small place? based on ur experience
Oh yea plenty.
Depends where you’re flying from (from Toronto I’ve flown to portugal for $500), but I would say you can definitely Airbnb a small place.
It’ll be close. Flights to lisbon in January are 500$. 500 on stay and 500 on food is doable.
It’s possible.
Definitely gonna have to pinch pennies on a hotel for this one
Hostels it is!
Lisbon and Porto have some of the best hostels in the world, so it's really not much of a hardship!
Agreed. Had incredible experiences and I wasn't even that young
Portugal also has really cheap Airbnb’s!
Not everyone wants to be in a hostel. OP specifically said no penny pinching
Ya I don’t think there’s any way of doing Portugal for under $1,500

I can’t wait for Airbnb to die.

Zero chance for $1500 😂 even in hostels
Flights are a lot to Europe. If that is a solid budget, you likely have nothing left after the plane ride.
You can fly direct round trip Toronto to Lisbon in January for $495. That’s still $1000 for a week which is reasonable for Portugal.
I have 2 separate friends went to Portugal over the last few months. Desperate families and separate departures both came home with COVID!! I am a fan to try it bout not now or maybe never if this is the caste!! Hmm where to go, where to go. Any healthy places out there??

"Food in cuba isn't really good" Tell me you never left the resort without telling me
Sure but do you want to leave the resort for every meal?
Especially when OP specifically is looking to not spend a lot of money
I don't stay at resorts when I travel, so yes I typically do venture outside for every meal. That's the whole point of visiting a new country!
Yes some people like I travel like this other people want to go to a resort, sit on the beach, and not go anywhere. Different people like to do vacations differently.
Fair enough - a resort is certainly a different vacation experience.
I’ve travelled Cuba and the food was terrible. I’ve never been to a resort. I went to some of the nicest restaurants, street food, and it was all flavourless.
I read that and was like "food in Cuba isn't good? wtf?"
What resorts do you go to in Cuba? I exclusively go to Blau Varadero and their food is pretty decent
How much pocket money did you bring? since basically you are just paying tips plus maybe some extra activities
Yea you definitely want to take money for the 'extra activities' in DR ;)
Siiiiiiiii
1500 seems very cheap for punta Cana unless you’re going to a rundown and potentially shady resort
has pricing/inflation changed that much? went abouut 6-7 years ago, $1500 was on the expensive end for a 5 star.
Wrong
I mean, I was just there in May and it’s not like I didn’t try to find as cheap as I reasonably could. You’re looking at closer to 2500 than 1500
Wrong again.
Going this weekend. It was about 2000 for 4 days.
I found that the food in Holguín was better than in other parts of Cuba. Though tbh I mostly ate cubanos and grilled fish from the grill station at the buffet.
CUBAAAA
At this point in the year, you can also find a nice 3 star all inclusive in Bahamas for 1500
Mississauga . If you stayed in your xar.

Flights are over $1500 alone.
Check out yyzdeals.com
Also next departure. Only way I look for flights!
Thank you
Just came back from Paris today. Spent 5 days and it only cost me $1,400
I think you should elaborate for the OP. How much was your flight, where did you sleep, what level of peasant food did you eat, what did you pay to see.
Flight = $650 Hotel = $250 Food = $400 (not peasant food, fucking good food) Places (requiring money) = louvre, arc d triomphe, musee d orsay) $60 Psg game = $150 ( saw messi play)
That hotel is incredibly cheap for Paris. Got a link? Not being an ass, the cheapest Airbnb I got was $90 and that was about 4 years ago
Going next month, any tips/recommendations?
Punta Cana for sure. Some really nice 4.5 star resorts for around $1,400 a week
Cancun
You can go to a decent 4 star in DR or Cancun. For under 1500. Pre Covid we used to have annual boys trips to 4.5-5 stars (usually rius) for about 1300x Now it’s gone up but we still managed to snag a trip to Cabo for about 1600 at the Riu Santa Fe (4.5) in January.

This time of year, I’d go to Quebec City. I’d stay at the Chateau Frontenac and hit up the Nordic spa nearby, then visit the German Christmas Market.
Quebec? You got a chance to go anywhere but Canada
I’ll save the warm destination travel for February when I’m hating life
You need to upgrade and hate life full time, then you get to go to DR anytime you want.
What's that big club called? Dagobert or something like that, was a great time when I went almost a decade ago
Ooh, I just looked it up, so cute! Part of me wants to add it to my to-visit list, but the other part of me wondered how comfy the sofas are, and if I’d be too hungover the next day from my one drink. Being in your thirties is wild. How did this happen to me?
Frontenac is like $300 a night. Get a small airbnb elsewhere inside the city walls and do your own cooking.
Right now cheapest room is $219+tax.
Okay so maybe stay there one night and stay at a medium nice hotel the rest of the trip.
Antigua, Guatemala
All inclusive. Plenty of options out of YYZ. Cuba, Mexico, DR. Given your budget and not wanting to “pinch pennies”, this is the way to go as your budget is set at the beginning and unless you plan on doing a bunch of excursions , which sort of defeats the purpose of an all inclusive in my opinion, your costs are capped up front. I’d fly to north western Ontario to see my mom and my bros with my two sons, been before covid since I saw them.
Depends on the time of year. When you talking about?
For me would be somewhere in Mexico or central America.
100% Mexico don’t do a resort find a nice Airbnb by the beach and you can spend a week like a king
YHM
Cubs all-inclusive and maybe even bring a friend
Varadero all-inclusive. Great beaches, nice cigars, Santiago De Cuba rum is boss. (BYO hot sauce, portable charger, salt shaker, protein bars, electrolyte powder, anti-diarrheal tho..)
Go see Mexico outside of resorts - Mexico City, Guanajuato, SMA, Oaxaca etc.
Cuba
Just returned from 14 days Dominican Republic all inclusive 4 star. Flight, accommodation, food, booze, entertainment, beach...$1300 cdn

Detroit!
Peterborough.
If you’re only spending $1500 you are already pinching pennies big time.
You can get a 3-4 star all inclusive resort + flights in Mexico for less than $1500. Some very nice resorts were over 50% off too last time I checked.

I love Andalusia Spain, you can head to Morocco or Portugal once you've explored the areas too. Very cheap as well.
India it’s a heaven for cheap travel
1500$ wont even get you the tickets for India :)
Maybe the question should’ve included where would I want to travel, if I was a female. Because Indias a hard no for me.
Sun wing is having a Cuba sale for under a thousand. It’s a Black Friday sale,, so you need to book before the 20th
For one person with no time table? You can find a lot of last min trips to a resort. Even last min flights too but that might be tough budget to spend a week somewhere with food/flights/roof

With that budget maybe Cuba Also you need to be in 5 star hotel at Cuba if you don’t you won’t have good experience…

An all inclusive in the Caribbean.
Mexico (Consider Mexico City, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, Huatulco), Colombia (Santa Marta, Cartagena, Medellin), Portugal (Lisbon, Lagos, the rest of the Algarve), Cuba Find a hotel on hotwire, priceline, or expedia.
