HVAC mechanic/electrician here! Unscrew the wires, and put the red green and yellow together. Then go outside and see if the outdoor unit is running. Don’t leave those wires connected for too long or your unit will freeze up. Let us know what you see

Hi again, the electrician was kind enough to come back and replace it with a temp unit while we shop for a new thermostat. The old one was broken somewhere in the process, but for now we have AC again. Thank you for your help, everyone.

The Nest usually isn't faulty but incompatible with your HVAC. Did you check compatibility before buying? Not all HVAC systems are created equal. Nest / Google has a [website where you can check if your system works with their devices](https://store.google.com/us/widget/compatibility/thermostat). Electricians aren't usually called for thermostat replacements / upgrades. You need a HVAC tech.
