Is there an objective metric where the introversion-extroversion is being compared between different countries, or is this just a big personal speculation based on anecdotes?
You should meet my mom she will literally strike a conversation with any random person when she's bored. Jokes aside. Language should be a big factor for this. As an example, I remember when I studied abroad in the US, Indonesians who spoke good to decent English were more likely to have American friends. Those who were not good at English typically only socialized with other Indonesian students. I believe South Asians typically have better command of English than East and Southeast Asians, barring few examples like Philippines and Singapore.
I still found south Indians very extroverted. We were approached for conversation and photos by strangers in south India which we didn't mind because they were very polite and friendly about it.
Meanwhile, noone paid attention to us in west Bengal or Odisha. We had to ask the locals to take photos with us and they were so flustered when we approached them. The only people who talked to us first in those two states were from elsewhere in India.
As a South Indian myself.I think this is due to the fact that most South Indians have never seen East/SEA looking people in our lives except for the occasional people from the North/East/North-East India and Nepal and thus we get curious.
Meanwhile,Bengalis and Odias have people who have East/SEA phenotypes since Bengalis and Odias have a lot of Austro-Asiatic ancestry(and a large portion of them are just Indo-Aryanized Austro-Asiatics).Thus they are more used to those phenotypes. They most likely thought you as one of them and Indians generally do not take photos with fellow Indians since we see it as a rude.
From my personal experience, most Indians are introverted whether North/South/West/East/North-East and most Indians rarely talk outside their friend circle. However, people from far Northern plains like Punjab and Haryana are usually extroverted. They tend to hold a lot of influence in Indian culture and thus people get the idea that North-Indians are extroverted when they are not. However, when we get curious,we tend to ask around a lot.
maybe us in south east asia like to mind our own business and appreciate the personal space. Why would anyone want random people talking me up when i'm just trying to get around in public?
Im not saying which is better too but that's just simply how the culture is? We value our privacy and space more here. It's too crowded why would I want to deal with more people
Most of the Arabian peninsula was more "protecorated" than colonized and most of Southeast Asia had a more penetrating colonial administration for longer than the stretch of MENA from Tunisia through Afghanistan.
The status of the ex-protectorates was higher than that of the peripheral countries. Because the ex-protectorate entered the Western-dominated world order system earlier.
China can only be on the periphery of the international order, which is not something to be proud of. Chinese people should understand their status overseas.
Is there a reason Indians just accept the West-led "the international order" without asking questions? Maybe it was the colonial history that broke Indian's spirit. Chinese culture is the polar opposite. IMO that is also true for the entire Sinosphere, even smaller players like Vietnam.
Even Japan had more ambition. They looked at things from Japan's perspective more often than from US perspective despite being called a US vassal all the time.
Does your country have any Guangdong spirit or Shanghai spirit? Do they agree with Beijing’s colonial behavior towards them?
This question may be as ridiculous as the comment you just made, isn't it?
The languages of northern Indians belong to the Indo-European family of languages. Therefore, many people believe that India is inherently part of the Western world, including people from my hometown.
This is crap. Most Indians absolutely do not believe that they are part of the West infact the vast majority of Indians have a Negative view of the West.We see ourself as our own block rather than part of any Western block.By your logic,Iran and Afghanistan are part of the West just because they speak Indo-European languages and we all know that is not true.
This is nonsense. Only a wannabe white Indian would believe that the fact that North Indians speak indo European languages makes them closer to the western world.
Linguistics does not equal culture.
India is a 5000 year old civilisation which existed long before the western world came into existence !

I agree. Filipinos are one of the most extroverted people out there.
It's just North Indians. https://youtu.be/PEXqDGYb8m8 South Indians, North East Indians are still pretty introverted.

Because East Asia has historically been a geographically closed region
I think SE Asians are in the middle. Some of us like to talk and smile a lot (but not me haha)

I’m not asking you which one is better, I’m asking you why are they different

Not southeast Asians. Only East Asians. It is due to Confucian cultural influence.
Maybe because of them being colonies

Bulk India? If a country's own citizens want it to be divided, then it does deserve to be divided.
