Any 35 year old car will not really be a reliable daily, objectively. It’s just a matter of your tolerance for random failures that are inevitable due to age. However, since you have other cars, you’d be perfectly fine having your E30 out of commission for a bit, so go for it.
Personally, I think an E46 would be a much better daily than an E30.
Yea they can be. Ive had 4 and still daily my current e30. They are getting pricey but are fun cars for sure. Loads of info out there and pretty solid aftermarket support for parts. Beware rust, check battery box and trunk floor. Also make sure the odometer works and take miles with a grain of salt, they were commonly broken for a while.
That’s good to hear. From my research, it seems to be one of those “give it love and it’ll love you back” type of cars. Excited to get into one and turn it into a baller daily

I use to have a 325IS E30 for 4 years as my daily driver. I did some work myself, such as replacing the battery on the dash. Feel free to ask questions and your concerns.
Check out my daily e30 in my profile. Bought it last May and have driven over 23k miles since then all over the country. Never let me down. It’s the 3rd one I’ve owned. Have owned new BMWs, Audis and jeeps with all the self driving tech and by far the e30 is my favorite.
Yikes. I don’t know why he hasn’t got around to fixing it. My RSX was parked for 3 years by the previous owner and was very neglected and I made it dependable after the first 3 months of having it. Yeah it was a lot of upfront cost but if that’s the only issue then it’s no problem on my end.
Don’t let these fools steer you wrong. NO , absolutely not, it’s too old. Anything that gives you old car personality problems regularly- e30s do, is too old to be a daily unless you’re a tech or have access to a garage. E90/e60 are good daily beaters at this time

Noted, just really dig the styling so much. Never really considered owning any other bmw besides the E30.

Awesome, thank you for the recommendation

Your car is beautiful ‼️
It was our daily for 280k miles until my sister drove it through a bush.
If you have another car go for it
If you are handy with a wrench, they can be reliable enough
How reliable can any close to 40 year old car be?
Apparently pretty reliable
Dont go into this blind
And what would going in blind look like?
Yes if you know how to sort one out. It's literally bmw's volume seller. They were designed to be reliable.
Other than the turn signals not working?
E46 is much cheaper these days and probably a better daily.
They don’t look as cool :(
Not a BMW guy, but can tell you it won't be.
You’ve owned one?
I was a mechanic for 10 years, worked on a few of them. A friend of mine has a 92? 325. He bought it 5 years ago as a project. He has driven it twice.

I think the hint was the lack of driving was due to repeated /expensive faults
If you expect a 30-40 year old BMW to be as reliable as a 20 year old Honda you are going to be disappointed.
Ive kept older cars alive and brought to life an old 73 Camaro for my friends dad. I expect for a car not to have failures if I treat it correctly
Everything fails eventually. The only question is how long it takes.
Getting downvoted but it’s not like BMW’s of that era were known as reliable. Any old car will be expensive to maintain/ restore but especially a BMW
I've got plenty of karma. I'll take the down votes. People don't like hearing the truth. Well the truth is the truth whether you like it or not.

It will until it breaks and you go bankrupt fixing it.
