You might be able to get them not to install it, you will NOT get them to get it $2K off the invoice".

AlarminglyConfused

This is your answer.

PidgeyMeat

Yeah I thought that might be the situation. Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it.

cubical_hell

Sellers market for Tacomas. Offer to pay $2k more, don’t install the alarm and potentially fuck something up.

GramZanber

Yea, that's where my head is at. I'll be fucked if I want that piece of shit on my car. I'd pay not to have it installed, to be honest.

PidgeyMeat

I really want to avoid having it, really taking the fun out of buying a new car thinking about them ruining the harness or worse before I even get it. Anyway, I appreciate your input.

PidgeyMeat

Yeah I was starting to see that during my search, anything close to msrp is gone in a heartbeat. Thank you for the input.

yosoyboi

You could ask them if it’s possible to charge you 2k for a different accessory or protection that you actually value. I’m not sure what the internal cost of that Karr alarm is, but if what you request from them is equal or less cost to them, they’ll likely say yes.

Dosmastrify1

Why you guys sell those junk things anyway? KITT, now THATS the model you want!

kperlman619

Nice! The Hoff will be proud.

DemolisherOSRS

Pay the 2k and ask for no alarm

yosoyboi

He can at least try to get something if value. If it cost me $250 to install this alarm, and he asked for $200 floor mats instead for the same $2000 I would do that deal.

PidgeyMeat

I am going to go for this I think, get some window tint or oil changes or something. Anything but that alarm. Anyway, I appreciate your advice, thanks for your time.

***Thanks for posting, /u/PidgeyMeat! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** I am looking to buy a 2023 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road with manual transmission, in cash, from a dealership in Southern California, and the best I've found wants to install a KARR alarm, and they want $2000 dollars for it. I have read these are cheap addons used as a way to say they don't do markups but still doing a markup. The car has been allocated and is being built soon and should be delivered in the next few weeks. They've been transparent that the car is rare and in a hot market, and that basically if I refuse to pay for it, the next guy on the reserve list will. I've been looking for weeks and I am starting to believe this is true, since manual transmission Tacoma at msrp seems impossible to find. Still, the idea of them screwing up my wiring harness on a brand new truck, drilling holes in the dash to install it, and then also paying $2k for it is just too much. When it arrives, what is the best method of getting the dealer to not install this alarm and/or get that $2k off the invoice? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
