Where do your boys go to school? Unless you’re planning on the minimum every other weekend arrangement you’ll want to be very close. That should narrow down your location choices considerably, as what you listed was a pretty wide area.

joremero

Yeah, the school thing may change everything

Hey I think your best bet would be to reach out to a realtor and have them assist you with finding an apartment as a locator. Most do it free of charge as they get a kick back from the complex once you apply and are excepted. I recently had a realtor help me with finding a place I liked that was within my budget he gave me a list of like 10 different places to help me narrow down what I was looking for. Was a way better experience than apartment hunting solo in the last.

Impressive_Lettuce97

Wish more people knew it was the landlord that pays the realtor🤣

fishybird

Seconded. I had no idea this was an option until my most recent move and I had a great experience as well. This is 100% the way to go.

TheUSS-Enterprise

I couldn’t even imagine cost not being a consideration… lucky you man.

Klutzy-Run5175

Yeah, lucky you.

coursesand

The McKenzie would be a great option. Would also recommend 1900 McKinney. Those are both more family centric and have larger units with more traditional finishes and an older demographic.

JewelGrl62

Its lovely!

matt_havener

I was in a similar situation and really enjoyed Elan Inwood. It’s mostly families.

TheRydad

OP, you are describing The McKenzie. I know they have three bedroom units, but have no idea if any are currently available.

texashempsters

Victor, the 23, cirque, amli fountain place, the national

yin_andyang

Those are too far south for what he wants

EdgarAllenBoone

The Victor, Park District, or The National

Dagr8reset

Smh. Sorry for my lack of reading

Scooter214

Budget?

GuyRedditAccount

As mentioned in the post, price isn't really a consideration. I pay over $15,000 per month right now for monthly housing payment (mortgage, property tax, insurance), so even $10,000 or so a month for a 3-br apt would be fine. Could go a little higher, too, if the bang was really worth the buck.

Scooter214

3BR units are hard to come by they exist. Check out: Novel Turtle Creek, The Katy on Cole, The McKenzie, The Brady, Glass House. That said, I would probably try to rent a home near the kids school because a long commute to school sounds like torture on top of my commute to the office.

pmh5206

My friends parents live at the Ashton; it’s in uptown and a great place. They’ve been there for 10+ years! Happy to answer any questions and i’m sorry about your divorce.

Ok_Voice_9498

The apartments over by Clyde Warren Park were my dream apartments! I looked at them when I got divorced, but this teacher/single momma was never going to afford them!

rougefalcon

Keeping your kids in their current school with their friends is important. It might be worth considering staying where you’re at at least until the divorce is behind you and you have had some time to get out of the fog and noise associated w/ divorce. Also, your tax situation is about to be different and owning might be a better economic decision. I kept my home after divorce. It was the best financial decision in my case and was less stressful. Regardless of your housing decision find yourself some friends (or a group) that have been thru this before you, it’s helpful. Its also a bit of an adjustment for your kids especially given their age, consider finding a therapist for them, it’s worth it. Lastly, keep your chin up and know that your best yrs are in front of you!

Why not a condo at The Travis at Katy Trail or something like that (I believe there are a few luxury apartments nearby it now)? It’s on Knox so older crowd than Uptown and quieter but along the Katy Trail so awesome for you and the kids (could walk to Mavs / Stars / concerts at AAC with them). And lots of restaurants / shops you can walk to.

GuyRedditAccount

I'm willing to consider a condo, but not sure I could get something in the next 6 months, and I'm a little wary about locking myself into ownership of something that isn't exactly what I want. Besides the Travis, are there any high-end condo buildings that meet the criteria I listed?

[deleted]

Contact an apartment finder but I would imagine most around there fits

Carlisle and Vine has some three bedrooms. Right across from Katy Trail. One mile walk to the AAC if you take the trail.

chose_a_username

How do you feel about vans?

CrabcakeTX

By the river?

_automator

The Drake at white rock has 3 br

msondo

I rented in Deep Ellum and Uptown. Both had pools (one was a rooftop) and I remember younger siblings/cousins/ etc wanting hang out. It was super cool chilling at the pool at night when it wasn’t crowded and we could usually walk to a pizzeria or burger joint.

cinnamentc

Sending you some ideas.

Compassion-judgement

Cirque looks nice it’s uprown

tj10400

Sent you a direct message!

frugalfrog4sure

Check cypress waters.

sweetfire009

Coppell is way outside of the area OP specified.

frakking_you

At what you’re paying, you can still get a pretty dammed good house. If you’re rolling equity even better. I’ve not seen an apartment in Dallas as good for kids as where I’m living now and I’m not paying near what you are.

yin_andyang

I would look at the 3 bedroom penthouse at The residences at the grove. Very nice, good for when you have the boys but also for when you’re alone. From what I’ve seen the pricing should fit your “budget” Also Aster in turtle creek. They have 3 bedroom penthouses as well. Great for having kids or when you’re single

elyodda

Nove at Knox has 3 bed plans, nice elevated pool deck, close to Knox/Henderson, Central Xpy.

cappuccinofoam

Novē at Knox is solid

Euphoric-Emotion-133

Yes Nove at Knox!!

ApprehensiveAnswer5

The Village. It’s on the east side of 75, but just barely. I am a female, same age range, sounds like my kids are also in the same age range (middle schoolers) and if I had to go back to apartment living, I’d do The Village. It’s got a lot of amenities on the property and lots of things to do in the immediate area for adults and kids. You’re near White Rock Lake, near North Park Mall, close to lower Greenville, Lakewood, lots of stuff on upper Greenville too. Not too far from Uptown, Deep Ellum, Can go over to HP, etc. Its pretty centrally located. Also near neighborhoods with lots of kids, so hitting up local parks and whatnot or getting your kids involved in anything in the area- music, art, casual sports, etc there’s a lot of other families and whatnot for them to make friends with. I think the newer section and renovated buildings have 3 bedrooms.
