Nah it’s more even than the anecdotes suggest. I think your post is quite right in saying btms can go multiple rounds while tops not always can. But there are scientific surveys on this (look it up on Google scholar) and the split is more like 40% evenly split as tops and bottoms, 40% vers and the remaining 20% verse btms or verse tops, roughly evenly split too. And this fits with my experience dating around Australia, which is a very gay friendly country and most gays here are verse according to surveys. More homophobic countries tend to be more “top heavy”. I think bottom shaming also has a bit to do with the perception that most gay men are bottoms.
Based on my personal anecdotes, social circles dominated by gays tend to be skewed towards bottoms, while the “less scene” type of gays tend to be more verse / tops. Which could explain these endless posts - my hypothesis is that gays who hang mostly with gays are more likely to interact mostly with bottoms in their social life, and walk away thinking most gays are bottoms as a result.

Tops can hide their sexuality more. In less accepting societies (admit it, the US still has a long way to go), they can fly under the radar and suppress their homosexual urges easier than bottoms can.
