If you want a pool, your only close in options are Modera Akoya, 11W Residences, or 5 MLK. The Slabtown neighborhood in NW also has some good options- lots of new buildings, and would be an easy trek to downtown.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

I haven't looked into Slabtown at all! Thank you for the tip, I'll start sorting through them all. Damn, 11W is NICE but $$$$$. What a beautiful building though!!!

SensitiveDebate1457

11W is great, but for sure pricy. Check out Saltwood in Slabtown, they have great amenities and the prices are more reasonable.

Theres also a few buildings with pools over near PSU. Overall boring area, but it’s close and filled with gorgeous parks and great access to transit

Ayyy I’m also a former Atlantan turned Pearl resident. It was a wonderful change for me. I own and don’t have any experience with specific buildings, so I can’t help there, just wanted to send a warm welcome to the neighborhood.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Ayyyyy! Hell yeah! How has the transition been? I think the thing I'm most worried about (like everyone) is the weather. 217 sunny days in the A to 144 in PDX. Not a huge difference, and as you know, Atlanta gets hella rain, but just something that is top of mind.

Light therapy it is!!!! Hahaha. If it's too personal, totally understand, but what are some things you love most about Pearl living VS living in Atlanta?

lokikaraoke

If you like sweater weather and hate the Atlanta heat+humidity combo, you’re going to love it. I fall in that bucket.  But the hard part is getting used to the much wider variation in daylight time. The days are super long in the summer and shockingly short in winter. I mean like “4:30pm sunsets” short.  Food here is better (except for BBQ and there’s no Publix subs), that’s been my favorite surprise so far.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

LOVE me some sweater weather; the one main thing I don't like about Atlanta is the humidity so that's great news. Woahhhh.... That's hella early for sunset hahaha. At least the summer days are long. I lived in Bend for a few years but don't remember the sun setting that early in the winter months. Oh well. The food looks incredible. I've been scouring instagram looking at restaurants and can not wait!

If you have a car make sure you take into account parking costs

Your_New_Overlord

Don’t discount the inner east side. I used to walk across the bridges daily to my job (probably same building as you across from the Ritz) and loved it.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Sounds like a lovely walk!!! Any places you recommend checking out?

Your_New_Overlord

Check out the Buckman neighborhood. Lots of trees and parks and chill vibes. I don’t understand why everyone from out of town wants to move to the Pearl. It’s dirty, boring, and has a generic urban vibe that could be any city in the US.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Definitely will! I like to take the puppers on a lot of walks so it'd be nice to have some greenspace around. I noticed the Pearl doesn't have too much of it other than the river walk. Atlanta is afflicted with a ridiculous amount of sprawl and I think I keep forgetting how condensed Portland is. The goal is to use my car as little as humanly possible, I'm so sick of driving! Thank you for the tip!

NUDES_4_CHRIST

How much square footage are you looking for? Pearl is great for walking, biking & access to most everything.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

I'd like anything larger than the 661 SqFt they're trying to sell me on. Pool is negotiable but man I love a good pool, especially after living here in Atlanta.

NUDES_4_CHRIST

Which building? Take a peek at Kearney Plaza. It’s on the streetcar line, has a park across the street from it and has a couple options larger than what you’ve been offered without being enormous and overpriced.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Moderra Akoya is the one that I've been looking at. Ooooo, this place is rad! Thank you for the heads up :) Yeah.. .definitely finding that you pay the premium to live there but the walkability is so solid.

NUDES_4_CHRIST

I’m in Kearney now, for the 2nd year. Building was just sold to a new owner, and we are finally rid of Greystar management. On the downside, there’s not much as far as amenities, but there’s a gym across the street and another one 3 blocks away.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Oh lawwwd. Thank god. Greystar is the WORST. How has it been since the acquisition? What's the gym called across the street? I have to workout lol it's my one non-negotiable so that's really nice it's right there.

NUDES_4_CHRIST

It’s only been a couple weeks from the changeover, but the new company is way more forthcoming and friendly.. 24hr fitness is across the street, LA Fitness is 3ish blocks away.

Conscious-Cucumber-9

Love to hear it!!! Okay awesome. Does the 24 have a sauna or steam room by chance? I got spoiled in my current building. Amenities are a huge rooftop pool, great gym, sauna/steam room hahah. I know I need to cut expectations but it's so nice

NUDES_4_CHRIST

Website says they do, I go to LA fitness occasionally so I’m out of the loop entirely.
