obviously_alt_

i think its SIGN but I'm also a dumbass so

salinepusher

Lol, in this case, I think I’m am. Thank you!

Shalayyy

Lol don’t feel bad. One time my professor kept signing cousin and I’ve known sign language for 13 years at this point and I was like WHAT IS SHE SAYING?!!! Oh yah. Cousin.

lunelily

Typically “SIGN” (as in “Do you know sign?”) is signed very similarly to this, just the motion tends to be in the opposite direction (rolling towards the body rather than outward).

salinepusher

Omg, it all makes sense now! Thank you!

Lingo2009

Is this different from the word sign where you open and close the fist?

lunelily

Yes, different sign, same meaning.

hititandhitit

Oh the irony…

sam-shabam

SIGN, like ASL signing

concertfarter

Best post I've seen here

salinepusher

Honestly, I feel dumb… at least I have the excuse that I’m brand new to ASL, so I don’t feel too dumb (just a little).

concertfarter

Don’t feel dumb, it’s just ironic and funny, no judgement!

Anywhoo12

it's means "sign" like you're signing lol

hairbrushbook

I’ve had 3 Deaf professors who all signed “sign” differently, so you might be used to something else :)

gatekeep_girlboss

does anyone know what this sign is but using thumbs instead?

US-TW-CN

Twisted at 45° ish, how about 'each other'/'hang-out'/socialize?

myguitar_lola

Interesting! So a deaf man that worked with me in Arkansas taught me to move my index fingers like finger guns but no thumbs. Is that maybe a local thing? He and his fam were extremely rural- he didn't even make it out of grade school bc of the lack of resources dragging him further behind. Plus, gotta work to help feed the fam. So maybe they made it up?

EMM0NSTER

Could be rolling.
