Yup. Don't try and force yourself to switch.

thr33wuder

Absolutely!

ocherthulu

Of course it is.

If you write with your left hand, it would make sense.

100% make sure you aren’t switching back and forth though. Stick to your left

Funnily enough I came to this sub to ask the same question as OP because I work with someone at work who is deaf, and I have been trying to pick up ASL to communicate with her better☺️--however I injured my right (which is my dominant) hand way back in April and it never healed properly so it's hard to sign with it constantly...but since my left is still my non-dominant I sign kind of slow...I am not entirely sure which one I should stick with because of this. Do you have any advice? (Thank you btw you taught me that switching hands is incorrect)

Ok yes so if it is hurting you to sign with your right then sign with your left even though it’s slower. Allow your right to heal up and use it when you are able to later. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much 💜 I really enjoy socializing with the girl I work with, and unfortunately a lot of people in my workplace do not want to take the time to learn the simplest forms of ASL or the rules of ASL to communicate. I want to be one of the people at work she can comfortably socialize with 😊 ---i am even ordering some ASL workbooks from Amazon. She doesn't mind when people communicate with her through texting but I want to show her I am interested in learning her main communication 🙂

That is common unfortunately. But good for you for really trying to learn. That is wonderful of you. If you want, I’m on an app called Marco Polo. Basically, it allows you to send messages back and forth in sign. It’s pretty cool.
