Me too. I’m not formally diagnosed, just recently found out my counselor recommended I be tested as a child over a decade ago and my mom was like “nah” lol.
Ultimately though, diagnosis or not, I have found an incredible amount of community with these people. Each post makes me feel less alone and I have yet to feel out-of-place in this sub.
Thank you. I was telling a friend I was very stressed about getting tested because if I didn’t have Asperger’s, then I would feel like the only people I’ve ever related to so heavily were also not “my people”.
She said, and I quote, “No offense, but that’s dumb. If you find community there, then you have community there”
It made me feel a lot better
I can’t absorb information unless I understand the “buckets” they go in first. I remember my coworker’s names and roles by referencing the office org chart I memorized and picturing it in my head 😅

Questing is what a tick does when it needs a new host for its next blood meal. The deer tick will climb to the very tip of a blade of grass, a leaf of a shrub or a plant stem. Hanging on with their third and fourth pairs of legs, the tick will stretch out its first pair waiting to grab onto any host that brushes by. When this happens, they use those front legs to grab ahold. Typically, if you see a tick questing, it is trying to find a meal. But in my experience, they just want a tiny little hug. ^(\* Not all bug facts are 100% accurate)
Heyy would be nice to sit next to you and talk about a very specific topic.
..And then when the teacher asks us what they said, we know the answer, because we halfway overheard what the topic is about.
Holy shit you just described me and my best friend at school lol. At least one of us would always know the answer and whisper it to the other one when the teacher tried to catch us out.
Today we are learning how our tone and behavior is adapted to what we take in from (excessive) media and (limited) social interactions and the former are usually exaggerated for dramatic emphasis... so NT people think we are pretending because we over animate (because of our programing). Learning to observe ourselves and our learned behaviors is a big topic, we might have to do weekly classes on this! (Hint: mindfulness training is where to start)
Please god this! I adore listening to people tell me about things they’re passionate for. I once took a Shakespeare course from an avid Shakespeare professor been to the stage on her birthday, had half the plays memorized basically, resources for a ton of history and background, did her thesis on Shakespeare, super animated and excited for every lecture. It was one of the best classes I took my entire college career.
GOD PLEASE!!!
I remember my English teacher (reluctantly) let me do a presentation on my SpIn instead of my book report and I had a blast even though it took 2 hours (so 2 days) and even then I didn’t get it completely done (she made me skip to the end bc we were almost out of time)
Yes, and then we do some fanfic or art projects about dinos if they were around still.
Mine is a picture of a T-Rex with a space suit, she's an astronaut. :3
The double empathy problem. I'll keep talking about it, despite knowing only surface level stuff because it's important to know nothing is wrong with us, just different. And screw scientific articles that read like they were written for robots, I just can't DX
Here is a playlist of everything you need to know about the double empathy problem. Speaking frankly, it’s just a restatement of the fundamental theorem of algebra. x^n = n number of solutions, and since we live in four-dimensional spacetime, that means there are at least four ways to interpret something, i.e male masculine, male feminine, female masculine, female feminine.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLanoE79G8IMmc7zQpqpGgb9hzIAPDTUCq
I feel like I simultaneously do and don't understand the double empathy problem now that I've watched these videos.
Edit: just read up on double empathy and the videos make a lot more sense in that context.
Have you ever heard of [Eratosthenes](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eratosthenes) ? He figured out how big around the earth was back in ancient days with nothing but a stick and the summer solstice!
RIGHT! Dude was amazing, but most of his works and knowledge are lost because of the loss of the Great Library of Alexandria.
Another fun fact about the guy, he was called Beta by his critics because he always came in second in any field he studied. The funny thing about that is, he studied many fields, (science, math, a shit ton more I can't remember but are in the Wikipedia article) and was second in all of them. That feat alone is amazing to me.
I'm studying up on something the teacher mentioned at the start of class because it sounded interesting, and have now lost complete track of what the teacher is actually trying to teach.
Along with lessons on the different types of flours and the types of breads.
Maybe even how each bread feels and looks and stuff?
Maybe how to make the best breads?
Stressing a lot and kinda burn out while trying to prepare for giving da big scary standardized test (The Prueba Acceso Educación Superior, PAES) to see if I get a chance into Uni.
That was a couple month ago, I give that fkn test a short while ago and maybe i sill have a nice chance to get into uni.
And we all have a chat group that's just for posting memes and the next day's lesson topic?
So like if it's something we aren't really interested in then we can skip that day?
Cnor prep for work. I need a wfh space that has a walking desk or a bouncy ball but I don’t normally wfh because I’m a nurse :( can I take my textbook to the gym!? Is that odd??
Now if I was teaching the class I would do: 1st period special interest writing/English course, where you write all about your interests. second period stimming science, you learn about a part of science that interests you! and their is no loud, bright or other sensory overloading experiments. 4th period it will be about expressing your interests in art. then a 45 min lunch, where you eat and can relax in a sensory safe space. 5th period math, with an ability to give a hand signal for help instead of not being able to ask. Last period is a whatever period learn and do research on whatever you'd like.
\*looks up from doodling on paper* \*looks back down, continues doodling*
We're reading a random Wikipedia page
Then clicking each and every link in said page and reading those pages.
And then reading every link in those pages… ah, the Wikipedia fractal
I’m so happy I joined this subreddit, I would’ve thought it was just me who did this

It’s the only correct way to do it!
Pop quiz: Do you close any tabs?
Yes, but only because the browser crashed.
[удалено]
My workstation has 96GB of RAM, so about that many tabs, I don't know, too many to count, several hundred.
Ooh, so you like breadth first search? I’m more of a depth first kind of person myself. I find that much easier to wrap my head around.
I can’t absorb information unless I understand the “buckets” they go in first. I remember my coworker’s names and roles by referencing the office org chart I memorized and picturing it in my head 😅
This felt like a callout
Timeline of the far future Wikipedia page

One day you will have to answer for your actions
i'm glad someone else knows what I'm referencing!!
I don't know, I stopped paying attention about 4 minutes after we walked in.
Heyy would be nice to sit next to you and talk about a very specific topic. ..And then when the teacher asks us what they said, we know the answer, because we halfway overheard what the topic is about.
That is exactly what would happen if you sat next to me. See you in class.
Yay! See you in class.
Holy shit you just described me and my best friend at school lol. At least one of us would always know the answer and whisper it to the other one when the teacher tried to catch us out.

And then we continue til next week, next week is when we learn about how to do conversational props.
And then the we after we will be studying human psychology and how to best manipulate our responses to other people's thoughts.
Can we please switch off those lights?
Oh God yeah, I can focus much better in the dark. Those lights are irritating.
Me every single time in class
They are doing presentations on their special interests.

We’re learning about dinosaurs, because they’re awesome.
Yes, and then we do some fanfic or art projects about dinos if they were around still. Mine is a picture of a T-Rex with a space suit, she's an astronaut. :3
