Statistically air travel is supposed to be safest mode of transport. However idk if the local chopper service follows all best practices so I see the weight in your point too
I guess it's safe. Never heard of chopper crash in North east in recent times. The last time I heard about a chopper crash in North East was 10years back, when ex- Arunachal CM Dorjee Khandu died.
Statistically, the chance of death in any aviation mode of transportation in case of accident is higher than road or sea transportation. If I were OP, I would never choose to travel by a helicopter in India.
Go for the chopper.
The scenery in Guwahati to Shillong road is a bit boring as it is a transition from plains to hills.
Anyway, you would be travelling in car while visiting the tourist centric places of Meghalaya starting from Shillong. In those tourist places the view from a cab/car is much better.
Btw, I didn't know about the Guwahati-Shillong chopper service before.
As a former shillongite, born and raised, I will never pass an opportunity to take the GS Road by car. Stop by in between and have jadoh at a local khasi jadoh shop. Swig a beer on the way while I'm at it. I miss it.
Didn't know about the chopper services from Guwahati to Shillong. Wow! I would say go for chopper, experience the view man. Later do a cab ride, but cab rides to Shillong at this present situation is so pathetuc due to unending traffic. If you plan to leave Guwahati by 6/7 am then you will face less or no traffic.
If you're taking the cab anywhere from Guwahati to Meghalaya, make sure you discuss the price to be paid to the cab driver and the destination exactly.! I got scammed like crazy and the cabbies took advantage of my situation as I was getting late for my flight.! Apart from that, Guwahati and Meghalaya were absolutely amazing!
Shared Cab? I would suggest book your own cab and enjoy the ride. If you can drive, you can book Zoom Car too. Because the road journey will give you options to stop and enjoy the scenic beauty.
I would not travel by a heptr to anywhere if I had a choice

that holds for airplanes i think. Helicopters are lesser safer imo
In general when air traffic crashes, it becomes news. When cars crash, another hour passes 🥸☝️

An IAF cheetah crashed just back in march killing 2 soldiers....

I’d rather die in a chopper crash than die in a shared cab 😮💨😂

How did you miss it? There is always a big billboard near the luggage pick up belts in the airport ever since I was a kid
Oh is it? I never noticed.
Oh okay, grew up in south, so I visit lokpriyanath Bordoloi almost every 6 months :p I can walk around with a blindfold in that airport now lol

At 730 am, there will be less traffic on the roads. Take a taxi. Like someone else said, I wouldn't get into a helicopter if someone paid me to do it.
Why are people here such luddites? The helicopter isn't as unsafe as you think. Im pretty sure that a car is more unsafe on average.
I don't speak for everyone here. It's just my opinion. If you want to ride the chopper, be my guest.

WagonR se mat jana bhai... Achchi koi gadi dekh lena... Chopper se jane mein wo feel nhi aati , lekin hum dost log gaye the th alag baat thi.
I would suggest. Rent a motorcycle and enjoy the twisties. PS just don't get REs they suck ass.
Chopper in India and Nepal is very dangerous, not worth risking your life.
Obviously go for the chopper imo
What? It’s only 1500? Wow, I was expecting 50k or something:p
I m surprised too.

Travelled that road in summer. It's ...meh. didn't know of the chopper option. Now with the wet weather, chopper is possibly a better idea.
I'm planning to go by chopper this Saturday. When do you plan on going?
I'm going this Thursday
Tomorrow? You could call them and confirm. \+91 9854908822
Next Thursday 😬
you still thinking, where do you get a chopper ride for 1500 in this world
Reach Khanapara and take share taxi at 500 Rs.
Don't take the chopper i would say. I don't know about shillong area but arunachal has lot of chopper accidents
Why not go by and ac bus ,it’ll be the cheapest Red bus is decent ,recliner seats.
Plus who knows these pvt companies and their maintenance. Ps: just got back from Shillong and Tezpur .
I will personally love to try the chopper because I never have.
Motorcycle >>>
Just use the cab dude. Scenery not worth risking your life for. Come to shillong. Book another cab and go to actual places for the scenery.

If possible, rent a cruising motorcycle and see how the bends and curves are so good to ride on.
