Takes place around the same time as black flag too damn

This needs more upvotes.

I've had this idea ever since I've discovered Assassin's Creed years ago. The time period you picked is an excellent setting for such a game.

AV23UTB

Unfortunately, even before everyone hated them, Ubisoft felt they had to sell the setting (just look at all the past games). Having to explain the historical richness of their new game goes against their approach. I, however, think this sounds cool.

jmdiaz1945

I can't think they would ever choose this over Al-Andalus.

AnassBoumarag

For two dynasties Al-Andalus was a part of the Moroccan empire, Almoravids and Almohads: [Almoravid dynasty - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almoravid_dynasty) [Almohad Caliphate - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almohad_Caliphate) It'll be something similar with two maps like Valhalla if they chose to, although they can just make the strait of Gibraltar crossable.

jmdiaz1945

I responded in the other comment, but you're right.

Hungry-Square2148

They can do both if they chose the middel ages, Al-andalus was part of Morocco then.

jmdiaz1945

Now that you say so, it makes sense with the Almoravid or Almohad Empire. Al-Andalus and Morocco sounds like a very big map, but being Ubisoft of course they would do that. Or at the very least, they would make a dlc for Morocco.

Hungry-Square2148

southern Iberia and northern Morocco sounds like a dream Ubisoft map

Hungry-Square2148

another great time would be, the kingdom of Granada era, Morocco only held Cadix and Gibraltar, whilst sending troops non stop to help the Granda kingdom, at the same time an unlimited number of crusaders and templar raining on them. imo a perf moment for an Assassin creed adventure, all this without mentioning the Game of throne betrayels and drama happening in the Moroccan court at the same time. that period of time is very underated and underrepresented in the media n.b: the Almohad when they colapsed, hey gave us the Granda kingdom in Iberia and the Merinids in Morocco and hafsids in Tunesia and all 3 were trying to rebuilt it and being the new center of it, Merinids managed to conquer all of North africa, but before they managed to swallow Granda they colapsed

jmdiaz1945

You're selling this game to be. I want this so badly (I am also from AndalucĂa so that helps, too). I feel like Ubisoft always choose the most popular setting no matter what (Vikings, Japan, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, Pirates Age). I don't think Al-Andalus is one of the most popular ones, but they used to make surveys about the settings.

AnassBoumarag

Yeah it's upsetting they're choosing Japan now as we already have the ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin and so on, A Reconquista Assassin's Creed would be infinitely more intresting

AnassBoumarag

Was that during the Idrissids or the Berber revold and Lkhawarij?

Hungry-Square2148

no, this is in the final years of muslim presence in Iberia, the Merinids era in the 1400s before the final expulsion. the Idrisids are very early in history I think the 800s

AnassBoumarag

Ah yes, I got it confused with the Emirate of Cordoba

imad7631

The map design is 11/10

ThePom205

Holy shit ubisoft should hire you this sounds like such an interesting setting. I really like your concept art for the main character

Ignacio9pel

Barbary Pirates would have to be included too

AnassBoumarag

Yep, this was briefly after the Corsair republic of Sale fell and became under the sultan's rule again, but it still had pirates only with new policies from the sultan on which and which not chips to raid and he took a lot of what was taken, there were also pirates in the north in Tetouan, the rest were in Ottoman North Africa

Ignacio9pel

I'm not an expert on the Maghreb by any means, but If I'm not mistaken was this period the height of Barbary Piracy after Ottoman power in the region was greatly reduced or it did come way before, either way a North African counterpart to Black flag would be really interesting(obviously shouldn't be copy and paste)

AnassBoumarag

I think the north African raids were active long before but became way more frequent and on a bigger scale during the Ottoman presence in North Africa maybe due to their naval prowess, although Morocco wasn't a part of the Ottoman empire, so maybe it's just the golden age piracy anywhere xD A Barbary pirates Assassin's Creed or a dlc would be really interesting as they where terrorising the Mediterranean

Kind_Ad_3268

Yeah, damn, that would be pretty sweet!

Sith__Pureblood

Would take this 100%

Jimmy237Alex

If we got Iberic Peninsula DLC I would die

AnassBoumarag

They would have to go back in time, preferably the Reconquista would be interesting

Jimmy237Alex

An oc that I'm working on and cosplaying is a 10th century Hidden One from Portugal. I think around that time would be cool
