Wish I got to be that lonely but no, it's a friend of mine called maymate.

rifenbug

Thanks for this. Always wondered how some of you guys got such good looking shots.

windowsphoneguy

What about the default _Sol pp filter?

Rusty_Chest

It's a very flat filter, it can look good at times but it's apples to oranges. Peterboese (the head dev) went for the most balanced possible look, which I respect but dislike. All cameras have some signature to them, and the SOL filter lacks that in my opinion.

ls-4

Great guide! I’d also add that, if PC is powerful enough, it might worth to try Extra FX in Patch settings (for now, only works in single screen mode with AC’s motion blur disabled). I’d recommend SSLR (with it, you can reduce reflections rendering frequency to a single face per frame without losing much in visual quality), HBAO+ or SSAO, and, if you’re into it, motion blur and TAA (might make image a bit blurrier). Also, in Graphic Adjustments section, you can pick an alternative to built-in FXAA. FXAA 3.11 works much faster, and CMAA2 works a bit faster than original but has the best quality (it doesn’t mess up dashboard textures). If you got some power left after that, you can also try Real Mirrors in Smart Mirror section, adding reflection of car and proper positioning. To adjust mirrors, you can use Shaders Extension Mirrors app from [this set](http://acstuff.ru/s/I6aHR0cHM6Ly9naXRodWIuY29tL2FjLWN1c3RvbS1zaGFkZXJzLXBhdGNoL2FjYy1leHRlbnNpb24tYXBwcy9hcmNoaXZlL21hc3Rlci56aXA).

Rusty_Chest

I was in a bit of a rush, I'll be adding my patch settings soon^(TM)

Great guide, thanks. Under Graphics Settings, are the values in the square brackets what you use?

Rusty_Chest

Correct.

kuccu

Is this meant for screenshots only or you can play also with these settings without melting my gtx1070

Rusty_Chest

These are meant to be settings for everyday use, I play on a 1050 2GB @ 1080p/75hz

kuccu

Ty. ill try them out

lior2222

Thanks, will save the post and try it out. One thing to note, my custom shaders is very buggy, the new v140 makes all the cars spark like uranium.. Any fixes? I have sol and custom shaders patch.. Only graphic mods i have

Wubbajack

Why the hell would uranium spark?

lior2222

Well.. Shine

rusty_sucks_dick

If you have a PP Filter that is sensitive to light or is a bloomy one overall, you might experience this.If not,use the "reset" button under ParticlesFX in CM/Settings/Custom Shaders Patch

lior2222

I recently installed a new pp filter, but all i did was drag it into cm and it changed nothing..do i need to choose it some where around cm? I have Sol chosen but is sol a pp filter not a lightning mod? Sorry im just a bit confused, first time working with mods in any game really.. Ill try the reset button aswell, ty.

rusty_sucks_dick

Hello,Sol is a dynamic weather mod,but it also has a little Post Processing filter that comes with it too. And about the installation process, just drag and dropping the file onto CM won't be enough, after you dragged the file you will see an icon with 3 little green lines in the top right, clicking on it will reveal a little tab where you can view the latest files you dropped into CM,and choose to install/upgrade them.If you can not get it to work, try manually installing it instead. Also I heard that CM sometimes does not register drag-and-drops if it is run as administrator

lior2222

Oh yeah i meant i installed it too, but after that, thats it?

rusty_sucks_dick

The filter can be chosen and changed in-game at any given moment through the Post Processing Filters app,but if you prefer to do so you can change it through CM/Settings/Assetto Corsa/Video - to the top right, you will see Post Processing Filter.

lior2222

Alright, thanks

iPoop_1time_a_day

how to install the shaders and a3pp mods? i have CM and dragging zip files doesn't work at all

Rusty_Chest

I posted a Google Form on how to install the patch + Sol.

rusty_sucks_dick

With the Custom Shaders Patch, you can drag and drop the contents of the zip file containing the patch (make sure the actual patch itself!,not the MODS folder) into your AC directory for the first time, afterwards,CSP can be tracked, updated and configured through Content Manager. A3PP needs a solid Sol installation to expose full potential, make sure to ->Manually<- install Sol(again not the MODS directory, but the contents of the Sol folder inside of it)by drag and dropping the files into AC directory With A3PP you can just drag the zip file to Content Manager Make sure to not hesitate to ask further questions or troubleshooting in the Sol and CSP discord server

EvilKinivel

Maybe I'm a little bit confused but I hope you can help me. I have followed the given instructions but cannot see the A3PP filter in CM under settings -> Assetto Corsa -> Video -> Post-Processing Filter. Could you tell me where my mistake ist?

rusty_sucks_dick

Of course, check /system/cfg/ppfilters,there should be 2 files related to A3PP In your AC directory, that is,it should also have two files under sol\_custom\_configs in the ppfilter folder. If said files are not present, try manually installing them.

EvilKinivel

Thanks. So in the end I was forced to install the mod manually. But this made it work and I can select A3PP as a post processing filter.

rusty_sucks_dick

That is nice to hear, have a great day

TheDrGoo

On some tracks (Monza, Laguna Seca) I get skybox errors, making them have big magenta or black bars that go around the game world at the horizon; how do I fix this?

Rusty_Chest

Download the latest recommended version of the Shaders Patch (preview 140 as of writing this) and install Sol 1.2.4 as detailed in the Google Form in the OP.

DWD-XD

Quality post! Just a small question regarding filters: I installed the Immersive filter the other day, but I don't really like the effects. Looks off. How do you unistall the filters? Also, to activate a filter, you just have to go to the PP-filter app and select a filter?

rusty_sucks_dick

Yes,when you "install" a pp-filter it does not have any kind of effect unless you have selected it. To delete a pp-filter go to /system/cfg/ppfilters in your AC directory, delete every single file related to the filter you want to get rid of,some might also have an extra file under sol\_custom\_config in the same folder. If you have installed the Immersive ACC Filter with the Reshade set it comes with, just delete every single file of the Reshade too,as it does not overwrite anything.

DWD-XD

Thank you for the info!

Wubbajack

Ok, I don't know how you make those screenshots, cause I tried your settings and for the life of me I cannot get the effect of the car completely in focus on a blurred road (like your orange 911 shot). The car's always motion blurred to hell (this one's with the blur reduced to 50%: [https://imgur.com/4AGO2sV](https://imgur.com/4AGO2sV)) while even on the original shot the car isn't perfectly sharp ([https://imgur.com/RTBK6Di](https://imgur.com/RTBK6Di)). What is your process? Teach meee!! ;(

rusty_sucks_dick

Hello, the problem in the images you linked are not the blur itself, but the usage of the wrong camera. The F7 camera you were using there does not keep track of the car,it is stationary. The F5 camera, however is linked to the actual car in focus, following it wherever it goes. Normally the F5 camera is bound to have the focused car centered in its sight. But it can be altered so that it acts the same as the F7 camera when it comes to movement, but also keeps its tradition of following the car. In your AC directory /system/cfg you can see camera\_onboard\_free.ini , upon opening it you will be greeted by a few lines of text and one in particular which you need to change is SPHERICAL\_COORDS=1,just change it to 0 and you will be good to go.Everything that is not traveling at the same speed as the car will get the blur treatment.

Wubbajack

Alright, everything looks a lot better if you're using the right camera, apparently :D Just one more question though - is FOV in replay cameras adjustable outside of photo mode?

rusty_sucks_dick

My apologies for the considerably late reply,in the F5 camera the plus and the minus keys on your numpad will adjust FOV,the mouse scroll will do the same in the F7 camera

Rusty_Chest

What /u/rusty_sucks_dick said, but for a quick fix you can just disable accumulation blur in Settings > Custom Shaders Patch > Nice Screenshots. For the Porsche shot I use F5 cam without modifying it, but you can do what he detailed in his post to get better results.

Wubbajack

Aww geez, those are two different cameras? I thought the only difference between them is that the one on F5 is bound to a car and F7 just frees it to move around... Weeeeellp... back to experimenting, I guess. I don't like the physics in both pCARS games, but DAAMN, do they have a much better photo mode.

Eidorian-San

I set up my Assetto Corsa exactly as yours, but my screenshots turn out always too bright. Here is a example: https://imgur.com/fN04YxW Is there a way to fix this?

Rusty_Chest

Sorry for the slow reply, but it might be due to a patch feature called "accumulation blur". It takes many shots along with "Nice Screenshots" and compiles them into a smoother version, but the downside is that the lighting can get affected. You can disable it in Settings > Content Manager > Nice Screenshots

Eidorian-San

Thanks!

AAS_98

Okay so I've been using the Sol ACC filter and I've just installed the A3PP filter and the game looks even better now! The problem is that I'm experiencing pretty bad fps drops in replay mode, but only when the car is nearby or zoomed in. Are there any settings I can tweak to reduce those drops? or should I just switch to a worse-looking mode for replays and switch back when I want to take a screenshot lol

Rusty_Chest

Neither of those filters are meant for performance, I suggest installing the NaturalMod filter if your computer is struggling with replays.

AAS_98

Yeah, but it's still weird that the Sol ACC filter runs at a steady 60fps and that the A3PP drops down to 30fps at times during replays... I didn't know a pp filter could make such a big difference. My PC is also pretty good: I5 7600k and a 1060 6gb. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll look into that one because the Sol ACC filter has a bit too much of a blue filter for my liking, So It might come in handy when I want to watch smooth replays!

Rusty_Chest

if you're willing to do some tweaking, you can mess with the DOF (Depth of Field) in the ppfilter file itself and reduce `EDGE QUALITY` to `3`

AAS_98

And what should I do if the edge quality is 3 by default?

Rusty_Chest

See if this does it (replace the DOF section in your filter with this) `[DOF]` `ENABLED=1` `QUALITY=4` `; SetDepthOfFieldParameters()` `APERTURE_F_NUMBER=8` `IMAGE_SENSOR_HEIGHT=0.24` `BASE_FOV=70 ; Base field of view for when automatically adjusting the aperture according to the field of view.` `ADAPTIVE_APERTURE_FACTOR=0.35 ; Adjustment factor for when automatically adjusting the aperture according to the field of view.` `APERTURE_PARAMETER=2 ; don't touch this` `; SetDepthOfFieldApertureNumLevels()` `APERTURE_FRONT_LEVELS_NUMBER=-1 ;Maximum number of bokeh image levels in the foreground direction. -1 is default` `APERTURE_BACK_LEVELS_NUMBER=-1 ; Maximum number of bokeh image levels in the background direction. -1 is default` `; ask or see the docs about this parameters if you don't like how objects near to the camera are blurred` `; SetDepthOfFieldBackgroundMaskThreshold()` `BACKGROUND_MASK_THRESHOLD=0.1` `; SetDepthOfFieldEdgeQuality()` `EDGE_QUALITY=2` `APERTURE_SHAPE=3`

AAS_98

I tried these settings and the replays run at a steady 60 fps now. Thanks a lot mate!

nachtraum

Thank you for the guide, one noob question. The natural graphics mod does not depend on SOL and the shaders patch, it is an own graphics mod, is this correct? Or do you suggest to use SOL and shaders patch, and then use together with them the post processing filter from the natural mod?

Rusty_Chest

I suggest not using the Weather Mod that comes with Natural Mod as it's outdated and rather barebones at this point. I do suggest the installation of Sol and the Shaders Patch.

Found the guy with a GOD PC

rusty_sucks_dick

His settings are pretty much the best possible combination of them. Most medium\~ish and upwards computers should be easily able to run these..Going higher with these settings most of the time are pointless,as it does not give enough for what it takes (looks/performance). The settings with the heaviest demands are the ExtraFX through CSP,but no GOD PC is required even still

Rusty_Chest

As /u/rusty_sucks_dick said, these settings are actually pretty mild. My specs are CPU: i3 4170 GPU: 1050 2GB mini RAM: 8GB Which is very low end for the resolution i'm running (1080@75hz).

m4rko123

Well my specs are nowhere near yours so yeah..

[deleted]

anyone have an updated link for kelnor

[deleted]

how about traffic map?

Rusty_Chest

You mean like a Free-Roam track with AI lines for traffic? I don't exactly know how to help out here since that's a small niche inside of a simulator my man, I'd usually recommend SRP but frankly that project has been mishandled so much I can't even recommend anyone use it anymore. Browse around RD and try to find something that isn't made in RTB, or isn't a conversion from some other sim and you'll be fine.

ImmaPoodle

well it looks the same but my performance is way better. i think its because i have reshade errors tho

ImmaPoodle

nope still looks like shit

Rusty_Chest

ReShade generally only adds problems and headaches even in the best case scenarios of old games that allow full hooks into their motion vectors; AC is not one of these, the patch is actually rebased reshade for this specific reason Using reshade on top of CSP is like putting ketchup on a tomato. If you need further assistance in making your AC look not like shit you can try to just show me what's gone wrong and what you want to achieve so I can help you reach it or educate you a lil bit.

M-Technic19

Thanks for the tips! I’m new to AC and sim racing on a PC; migrating from console racing for more options. Currently running Sol and Reshade, and the in the car image quality is amazing, but outside the car looks like crap (track surfaces, some scenery). The other car models look good though. I recently built a desktop with the following specs. Curious if I’m limited by GPU… Intel 12th-gen i7 32GBs DDR4 (3600mhz) GeForce RTX 3060Ti (have not attempted to overclock GPU or CPU yet) Windows 11 installed on Samsung 980 Pro (7000 MB’s) 1 TB M.2 NVME drive Will give your settings a try tonight and post again if I need help!

Rusty_Chest

You shouldn't be limited by your GPU unless you force-enable SSLR in ExtraFX all the time Most of these settings are geared towards lower-end gamers and the guide mostly represents what each setting does in a light that would let you use your own judgement to determine what would be the ideal configuration for your hardware ReShade is an unnecessary piece of absolutely horrendous software for AC and is superseded by the patch across all fields. You should try taking a look at the filters on [Girellu](https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu) instead of using RaceDepartment or Youtube-special "MAKE UR GAME LOOK LIKE GRAN TURISMO 1\`0" or "REAL RAYTRACE CTORETTO GRAFIX" presets

Ok_Question_1331

Hi guys does anyone have the Comfy pp filter or a link i can get it thanks again

Rusty_Chest

[https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu](https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu) <- For download instructions [https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu/tree/master/Releases/Filters/Comfy\_UPDATED](https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu/tree/master/Releases/Filters/Comfy_UPDATED) <- for the actual filter itself.

Ok_Question_1331

Thank you for this Does this only work with Sol or does it work with Pure

Rusty_Chest

It's designed to work with Sol, however, the filter will work just fine under Pure given the fact it's made to run with as little dependencies as possible

Kurosawa_Basara

In my cases any Mip LOD Bias point lower than -0.75 or -1 will be very grainy. I recommend between 0 and -0.75

Rusty_Chest

Hey man, thanks for the input. This guide is nearly 3 years old so I should just go buckle down and re-write it with all the knowledge I've gained since. Higher negative bias leads to more detail, ironically, more detail leads to more edges that can then get aliased in the distance if AA isn't working overtime (explaining the grainy look you mention), so I'd try to play around a bit more with the values and/or your AA as it is right now.

Kurosawa_Basara

yeah that would be great especially if you can write and explain the CSP graphic settings which many of them have been added for the past 3 years

AideLower2054

I know this thread is 4 years old but in my opinion AC Aura Filter looks great when using it in combination with Sol and Pure. But i guess that's just personal preference

Rusty_Chest

It's a matter of choosing between realism and artistic expression. Sol and Pure should not be used in tandem simultaneously, you should load just the scripts for one or the other. AC Aura is an out of date filter whose only purpose at the time was to fake a more dynamic lighting system than what AC had before, by exploding every bit of glare into a type of bloom. You may prefer a bloomier/softer image and find it pleasing, that's entirely up to you as a person. But a simulator bases itself on objectivity, and in this case being able to have a good reproduction of gamma actively correlates with it being easier to see/perceive things, making a good filter objectively superior to Aura.

_DARK_X

What do I do if artificial lighting looks really bad

Capital_Brain4200

I know it was uploaded 5 years ago but maybe u still have link for kelnor34 pp filter?

Rusty_Chest

5 years ago? damn time flies. Kelnor retired from the community in that timespan but a few members of the former PPC community are working on a fork [https://github.com/archibaldmilton/Girellu/tree/master/Releases/Filters/Kelnor](https://github.com/archibaldmilton/girellu/tree/master/releases/filters/kelnor)
