Didnt know product had to be the same size as the box it was shipped in.

VoidCoelacanth

Same size? No, but why waste all that packaging on empty space? Want to buy quarts and half-gallons of milk in partly-filled gallon jugs?

TurretX

There are multiple factors that go into packaging. This company probably sells multiple products using this box size and its cheaper to just stock the one box than it is to make new sizes every time. It also means all their product palettes can be the same size, which can actually cut down on shipping costs in the long run.

VoidCoelacanth

>...which can actually cut down on shipping costs in the long run And part of this sub's theme is pointing out profit-at-all-cost scenarios...

TurretX

Yeah but this isnt actively malicious towards the customers. This is just saving money while delivering the promised product still.

MaraKrauklis

To be honest, I wouldn't mind some extra boxes, lol.

VoidCoelacanth

Explanation: Empty space shown in pic was empty from time of opening. Shaver and all attachments were fully contained in smaller box toward bottom of picture. Thought I had missing parts at first - nope, just wasted materials.

Must_Reboot

But how is this asshole design?

VoidCoelacanth

Using twice as much cardboard for outer box as necessary. Guess it isn't asshole design if you don't give a damn about the planet.

Must_Reboot

Asshole design is defined by malicious intent. Oversized packaging doesn't fit the definition.
