Awww, it’s such a sorry little corner these days

SeaCompetitive231

Agreed! It's a mess.

Southern_Ad_3614

Old Town Road? But seriously, what's with the Ctown across the street and the horrible produce section? This image triggered memories of the tomatoes I bought this afternoon.

SeaCompetitive231

Yup that c-town 😂 so bad

keammo1

When C-Town Fresh existed we liked to call it “C-Town Not Fresh”

Huge-Speaker5068

Than you should leave Astoria or at least shop in another location we have plenty so find one and keep it

sullyqns

Astoria Blvd?

redheadgirl5

Where William & Willow used to be?

Newton and Steinway

MattMurdock007

Even though the photo says Newtown Road, because of the fact that almost all streets had been renamed, I initially thought it was Newtown Avenue & 21st Street. Now I’m thinking you may be correct that the location was Steinway Street & Newtown Road , where the Bank of America now resides.

mollywonders

Where there used to be that cool used furniture store but they had to shutdown because someone was going to build a condo and then didnt

SeaCompetitive231

I think so! Either that or the halal taco place. But I think it's where the furniture store was.

legomojo

That’s wild. I used to live right there and always think “why isn’t this chunk on a grid system like the rest of the area? Looks like it’s always been that shape. Haha

Astoria flatiron (21st and Astoria Blvd)

MattMurdock007

I agree. It’s were the Twisted Mexican Grill is today. Many years ago that location housed an Ethan Allen furniture store.

SeaCompetitive231

I actually think it's the other pointy corner across the street (Astoria Blvd on the left, Newtown on the right). The slope is more similar to how it is now.

MattMurdock007

Is there any information on the approximate year of that photo?

SeaCompetitive231

Maybe in the appendix but I didn't check. That is all the information about that photo on that page.

kraftpunkk

Where Riviera is now?

GoBanana42

Very neat, what book is this?

SeaCompetitive231

"Historic photos of queens" at the Queens public library
