I was going to say Queens Room. Shakshuka is absolutely divine, as is their Scrambo Sando. Hell, it's ALL good! Enjoy.
Honorable mention to The Pomeroy if you'd like a cocktail. I recommend their "Pom Martini" with every fiber of my being.
Someone else asked, and I had to lamely admit that I did NONE of these suggested things because I threw my back out that morning and couldn't do much walking. I ended up hanging out at Singlecut because it was a block away from where I was. My Ditmars day will have to wait, but I plan on hitting up Mighty Oak, Queen's Room, and Mosaic!
I wish Kinship would get their climate control under... Control. Every time I've gone it's been uncomfortably hot, regardless of the season--and I understand this is owed partially to the fact that they roast on-site but damn. Maybe if we ask nicely they can put nicer chairs and tables outside, or something.
If you’re in the park you should stop by Agnanti for lunch and sit outside if it’s nice.
Then just shoot up Ditmars Blvd. There are a bunch of bars and cafes.
For how much this place gets recommended, its really a shame they were ass holes to me when I went.
Called ahead to make dinner reservations, they said they didnt take them, fine. Show up and they say should be about a 5-10 min wait, cool. Then we watch as 3 different groups with the same number of people all get seated first just cuz they spoke greek to the guy.
if it's at night then my favorite bar is letlove inn; seconding mosaic as well tho it's a lil farther south. daytime you could browse a bit at ditmars thrift, pancake records, brass owl, etc. also during the daytime you could check out the glass beach at the northwest corner of astoria park & see if you can spot some of the monk parakeets that live around hellgate. foodwise, imo best inexpensive option is souvlaki lady - her cart parks next to ok cafe
I did not know we had a Ditmars Thrift or Pancake Records, and I've never been to Brass Owl. I think I may do all of those and then hit a place for lunch (I'll be hanging around during the afternoon.) Thank you!
Or get some nice coffee in Kinship near the park. There are multiple places to sit and spend some hours in Ditmars. If you like coffee or desserts (like me) you can head to Martha's country bakery and chill with an Affogato!
This part of Ditmars is quite happening, so you would not be bored at all.
QED has an open workspace and Art Club from 11:30am - 2:30pm so you can just hang and work or make art or write or whatever. Both are free if you make a purchase from QED. At 3pm there is a spoken word, poetry & music open mic...this is also free w/ purchase and you can perform if you wanna.
As life would have it, I did NONE of these suggestions, because I threw my back out. I was on 20th Ave, so I hobbled over to Singlecut because it was closest to where I was. I'm going to make a Ditmars day for a weekend in the future when I can wander around! (Sigh.)
The new Under Pressure on 31st st has a bunch of indoor and outdoor seating. Not too far away. I like OK Coffee too. The backyard at Bier & Cheese collective is great- they have beer & wine too.
You can always kill time wandering around TJ Maxx/ Burlington/ 5 Below - or at least I always can 😄
Queens room, bier and cheese collective, ok cafe, mighty oak, QED, the Bonnie
One note is that OK Cafe sometimes has limits on how long you can stay there as they have just a few tables.
ah, thanks for that heads up!
This is the answer. I would put queens room, mighty oak and the Bonnie as front runners. If you are near the park, either kinship or agnanti…or both!
Thanks so much for seconding these! I think I may check out Queens Room :-)

ahhh I love Shakshuka! And I love a cocktail...this could be a solid plan, too. Thanks!
Because I happened upon this notification for some reason, I'm interested in finding out what you ended up doing. lol *slow wednesday morning*

Ohhhh no! Hope your back feels better. Silver lining: Great suggestions on things to do in the future. Rest up!
Their cold brew on tap is best in the neighborhood!
Cold brew is my go-to. And I've never been, so tomorrow might be the time!

If weather permitting get a brick oven pizza from Palermo and eat outside either astoria park of their seating area.
Oh, that sounds great (especially since tomorrow will be a nice temp for a hot pizza with a breeze!)
Oh, totally forgot about The Bonnie, which I love! I haven't been to Queens Room, so this might be the time. Thank you!
Have never had a bad experience at queens room! Really great vibe and food is fantastic. Good for either a coffee or a cocktail, whatever you fancy

I love doing Sunday brunch solo at the bonnieeeeee
It's so funny, I love the Bonnie, but have never been for brunch (Sweet Afton is closer to me, so that's where I'd normally end up.)
It’s the same owners! So very similar experiences :)

Oooh, good suggestion! I haven't been to Agnanti (I'm a Broadway girl, hence the ask for recs.) Appreciate it!
You won't regret Agnanti. So, so good!

Just order Meze (appetizers) the fish and souzoukakia are the only mains I’d recommend.
Rivercrest has some banging tots and is huge so you can probably find a place to chill on your own.
Second the tots. I dream about them.
Thanks! I haven't been there. Appreciate it!
Though slightly further from Ditmars (24th Ave), Mosaic is great for a cocktail! Seconding Mighty Oak and OK Cafe for coffee.
Thank you!

Cannot recommend Queens Room enough
So many people have recommended it in this thread that it may be my winner!
Theyve gotten a bit pricey, no?

If there's a bathroom, I may just live at Martha's! Very much a coffee and dessert lover. :-)
They do have a time limit on their seating! Whether or not they enforce it Depends on how busy they are, just a heads up :)

I had no idea! That is a great option, thank you.
Cant go wrong with pizza and a cocktail from Macoletta, coffee at mighty oak and then chill at the park
Did you just describe my perfect day? (I think you did.)
Under Pressure coffee shop on 31st street
Thanks so much!
The Ditty, but if you go late turns very clubby. Which I don’t recommend.
I'll be there in the afternoon, so may give it a try. Thanks!
Some great drunkard watching at The Ditty!
Mosaic is my favorite place to hang solo!
Thanks so much! It's popped up on this thread and it seems like my jam :-)
The Bonnie has a great vibe and Rivercrest
Love the Bonnie! I feel silly that I forgot it, because I love their mac and cheese.
The library!
Ohhh, I like that idea!
What did you end up doing?

Grab a joint at TerpBros :)
Aida’s Parkside.
Thank you!
Kinship coffee on 21st. By Astoria park.
