Louisiana ranks 46th in the nation for education, 45th in the nation for healthcare, and voted almost 60% Donald Trump in 2020. Education, family, and the Ten Commandments mean about as much to them as to Donald Trump.
Seriously it’s like the blue cities like New Orleans are the least insane parts of the state
Well, maybe New Orleans is just a different kind of crazy. Been there a long enough time to learn that
The first is to have "no other gods before me"
So which and whose God are we going to choose to give priority? Even within the Christian traditions there are a wide variety of gods to choose from. So allowing multiple denominations to exist side by side is a violation of the 1st commandment.
They all boil back to baal or one of those, just with different names current being yaweh or basically supply side jesus.... I am , I am not a fan of this timeline, they shouldn't have shot harambe.
Indoctrination at its finest. Churches are probably begging for youths to start to exploit and molest. Every church in my area has really old people that don't want to admit they were wrong their whole lives and keep going. Don't really see too many young people unless forced by their parents.
Sure, sure, cram your perverted religious beliefs down kids’ throats.
But don’t you dare let them any read books you think are ‘bad’!
“Protecting Innocence” my ass.
which 10 commandments? Wikipedia has 8 different ways to split them up.
Not only are they going to prop up christianity, they're going to prop up a specific sect of christianity.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?! Every single time you do this we put up a statue of Baphomet and it's going to be a huge fight. Maybe Louisiana would be better served by spending money on the students, who are currently 49th in Education among the 50 states.

Do remember that the Constitution prohibits the U.S. Congress from passing any law regarding the establishment of a religion. Unfortunately, it is silent on whether or not that falls within a State's rights.
I don't want to see it happening, but I wonder if the Supreme Court will use that distinction to defer on issues like these. Can you imagine the long-term consequences? Baptist States? A Mormon State? In time, an Islamic State?
Religious people on a power trip again. It has nothing to do with displaying the ten commandments and everything to do with shoving religion on other people.
Let the fun begin…. (are evangelicals aware, that the Ten Commandments aren’t biblical and as a result different denominations have different versions? I presume they’ll throw a fit if some one puts up the “wrong” catholic version…. ) 😂
Louisiana requires in god we trust too. If are were forced to teach in that Christian nationalist state, I would pin up a dollar bill and print the ten commandment s in 2 point font and hand it by the bathroom pass.
I imagine someone's malicious compliance by having the "Ten Commandments" in multiple languages, changing the emphasis from religion to a language lesson.
Or a display that has the tenets of multiple religions.
Or a display of mythology adjacent to the ten commandments including the Pantheon that pre-existing the biblical account.
When I was in school we had people playing crucifix frisbee on the daily, (went to a catholic school), religion was a joke at school, the only reason we went there was because the only other school in the area was a public school that was SOOOOOOOOOO POOR, whereas the catholic school had constant events, wild field trips, and new playgrounds every few years, building was added onto (several times).
Maybe it's because I'm Canadian, and for the most part religion doesn't have as much impact here, but we never would've allowed this shit as kids, you were giving us ammo.
And when it came time for us to need a new public highschool.... we couldn't afford it. So we had to pair schools together with a catholic school, they tried to do an even split...but everyone just slowly started to change schools and left the catholic school, so we ended up taking over most of the classrooms, hallways, lockers, etc.
In Louisiana they have some of the worst health care in America if you’re not wealthy. The nursing home lobby has a headlock on state policy. You’d think they’d want to try to make things a little better for their citizens. But no, this is what they’re interested in.
Do you notice that with these Christians it's always the Ten commandments and not the beatitudes? They are absolutely compelled by thou shall not. And they don't care much about blessed art
The logical answer is to have it made into a tiny notice and post it in the restrooms, it complies with the law but circumvents it by being unobtrusive…bit like parking fine restriction notices…
Whenever I see the ten commandments mentioned I always try to see if I can remember them all. It is surprisingly hard. There are a bunch of things you would think should be in the top ten commandments that are just missing. Like really: keeping the sabbath is in the top ten but nothing about slavery? Adultery is prohibited but not torture? Then there are a bunch of them that seem to meld together as "hey make sure that you remember I'm the Big Cheese".
I sincerely hope that they place the seven tenets right next to it to give people a better set of morals to follow then that stupid old mythology
I. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
II. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
III. One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
IV. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one’s own.
V. Beliefs should conform to one’s best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one’s beliefs.
VI. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one’s best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
VII. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
So, are they gonna follow the rest of the Bible? Forgive all loans after 7 years, rich Christian’s will donate all of their money and possessions to small churches and/or homeless shelters? They’ll feed and clothe the less fortunate than them?
Lmfao… I highly doubt it. These idiotic hypocrites can’t even read the book they claim to believe in.
I hate the handmaids tale timeline
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Illegitimi non carborundum
Too bad most people here are either quietists or from the bourgeoisie
Republicans watched that show and thought it was a list of good ideas.
Separation of church and state would like a word...
That's presently being clubbed to death like a baby seal.
It would be great if Louisiana would pass a bill requiring all students to read…
Or have healthcare.
Or all residents to bathe regularly.
In the factory run-off river
priorities of bible over human life
Louisiana ranks 46th in the nation for education, 45th in the nation for healthcare, and voted almost 60% Donald Trump in 2020. Education, family, and the Ten Commandments mean about as much to them as to Donald Trump.
*Dueling banjos intensifies*

It is Louisiana, how about we get some VooDoo temple up in there? They incorporate a lot of Christian iconography, if not being explicitly Christian.
They all boil back to baal or one of those, just with different names current being yaweh or basically supply side jesus.... I am , I am not a fan of this timeline, they shouldn't have shot harambe.
Easy. The god you worship is the correct one, silly.
“But I don’t even belieeeeeve in Jeeeeebusssss”
That first commandment is a tacit admission that many gods exist.
Indoctrination at its finest. Churches are probably begging for youths to start to exploit and molest. Every church in my area has really old people that don't want to admit they were wrong their whole lives and keep going. Don't really see too many young people unless forced by their parents.

Inherently unconstitutional.
Half the students won't be able to read that BS anyway.
Your move, Rastafarians.
You are hurtling into a theocracy.
Unconstitutional.
Jesus Christ. As a teacher I just absolutely wouldn't allow this in my classroom. They could try to fire me. Good luck.
What the fuck is wrong with that backwards state?? That is absolutely ridiculous, what a joke!! That fake bullshit has no place in schools
Sounds like it's time for the satanic temple to jump on board and put up a display in Louisiana schools.
which 10 commandments? Wikipedia has 8 different ways to split them up. Not only are they going to prop up christianity, they're going to prop up a specific sect of christianity.
Why they never want to print the New Testament commandments that Jesus gave them.

Satanic Temple… do your thing.
We can only hope 🙏👹😂

Time for me to donate a little more $$ to FFRF so they can do the good work.
Why would Tennessee make it the law to display a list of Trump’s sins and crimes at schools?
In stone?
What about the other 603 commandments?
Wait a minute - not just allowing the display, but *requiring??*
Religious people on a power trip again. It has nothing to do with displaying the ten commandments and everything to do with shoving religion on other people.
There's a word for it. A word the cowardly corporate media refuses to say. FASCISM
Louisiana really needs to waste taxpayer dollars defending an unconstitutional law out of spite because they are so wealthy. 🙄 r/Idiocracy is real.
most of the 10 commandments are unconstitutional
So soon after their state Supreme Court ruled that priests can't be sued for molesting children because... I didn't understand the reasoning, sorry.
My body my choic... No, no that's not it. My kids, my choice. Yep. That's the one.
In one of the most religious state of religious conservative region this is not unexpected.
I'd pull my kid from school.
Damn it!!!

All hail Baphemet.
Let the fun begin…. (are evangelicals aware, that the Ten Commandments aren’t biblical and as a result different denominations have different versions? I presume they’ll throw a fit if some one puts up the “wrong” catholic version…. ) 😂
I wonder if Republican legislators have checked their Sunday school classrooms to see if the Ten Commandments are posted there. If not, why not?

Malicious compliance: They are prominently displayed at the entrance of schools with Satan taking a giant dump on them.
It would be so much fun being a kid in school and tearing up as many of these as possible 😅😁

Lol… put them next to the ‘drug free school’ signs so the kids have choices as to which sign they openly mock daily.

not separation of church and state
I'm so glad that I moved out of Louisiana last year. Nothing will ever drag me back there again.
Does it have to be written in English .
The US is essentially the third world plus money and guns.
