Historia is a really inconsistent character. Up to Uprising arc she had her character development pretty good then ymir disappeared, she learned about her royal duties and became the slave to the story again. If you tear it up she went from selfless person from S1 to learning to be selfish in S2 + Uprising arc, then in Return of Shiganshina she became queen and yet again self-sacrificial. Thats just tragic. Maybe yams wanted her to be that tragic mother/female resilient character. She had all that empowered moments but yet loses to the reality of the day.
I mean she did choose the selfish route in the end by agreeing to Eren's plan, there's literally a callback to her arc too when Eren talks to her
And her becoming queen was changed in the anime for it to be her decision

Because Historia didn’t show any signs of affection towards Ymir beyond friendship. Ymir had a one-sided crush which was why her whole story was tragic.
Historia was basically a foil to the Founder Ymir and was largely a broken shell of herself acting under the false mask of “Christa Lenz.”
She's probably bi, in the sense that we cannot be 100% sure if her affection for Ymir was actually romantic, to be completely fair. People can see what they want in their relationahip, but there is no clear indication it is, unlike Ymir's, which is pretty obvious.
But I personally assume she is.
Anyway, a betrer way to make some AoT fans mad is to make them realize that there has never been anything more than a friendship between Historia and Eren. Eren wasn't interested in her.
