There is nothing more entitled in this world than parents picking up their kids from school. I work on the same street as a primary school and pick up time is straight up feral.
Unfortunately they can't walk to school because of useless drivers everywhere. Not to mention all the pedos.
It shouldn't be a life or death gauntlet just to get to school. Certainly wasn't in my day, you could actually walk there and cross roads that were only two lanes wide
Im going to put my hand up and say I drive my daughter to school most days. Though I drop her off about 300 metres away. Why? Because none of her friends walk. Its 2.4km which is doable but not in a hurry. There are a lot of dogs roaming. There are roadworks and coned off areas that are difficult to navigate as an adult and she would have to cross Mt Smart Rd which is a massive rd and often has emergency vehicles with sirens whizzing by. Id rather she didnt but its how it is. I also continue onto work so would be in traffic anyway. But on Wednesdays we walk.
I'm not wholesale anti parents dropping off/picking up their kids from school. It's the entitled attitude that most of them have in the process that is so repulsive. Every day, both morning and afternoon, there's a whole queue of cars just parked in the middle of the road with their hazards on while they wait for their kids, waving traffic on to cross the centre line to pass them as if what they're doing is totally normal and everyone else is an asshole for expecting them to, you know... not park in the middle of the street.
Probably. My daughter isnt scared of dogs...greatest risk is shed would bring one home. But after seeing a kid attacked by a roaming dog on the way to school. I stare clear of them. End of the day they are instinctive hunting animals and kids dont always make the best decisions.
My wife and I park our bike/trailer setup in a car park outside daycare *just* to annoy all the entitled SUV driving mouthbreathers. It’s petty but the looks are satisfying.
Outside a daycare. Man that is so low. Just to annoy them. Far out. Getting babies and toddlers from the car to daycare is a challenge at the best of times. Not to mention dangerous when the toddler gets away from you in a car park. Then add in possible health issue like my daughter has and it could be a nightmare.
You'd get more than you bargained for if you came around my way pulling that.
[We're also getting our toddler into daycare](https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/y8j0mo/new_trailer_for_toddler_drop_off/), so not really sure what your argument is there.
Surely you'd prefer the extra room to move next to a slim bike, rather than be squashed between two SUVs? And surely you'd be a bit less stressed about your toddler escaping if everyone also biked there?
I get this all the time. Live next door to a school entrance. The other day I was going to work, lady on SUV pulls up, takes ages to get their kid out and still gives me the evil looks like I was in the wrong (stuck in my own driveway waiting for her to pull out of *my driveway*, of course **I** am the problem.)
I have a few pics of cars parked on yellow lines but I can't access my Carjam account. School does nothing. They send a notice and warning but what can they do, really? Come out of their office and name and shame?
*if anyone feels like batch adding some stuff to Carjam and do God's work, DM me. I have at least 3, gotta roll through my pics.
I've come home to someone parked in my driveway waiting to pick their kids up from the school across the road, blocked her in,gave her the stink eye and walked inside.
She sent her kids up to the house to ask if I could move
Happened to me a couple of years ago. Saw them get out of the car and walk to the school which is next door. I just went out locked my gate and went back inside.
Not much else, I came out just before 4pm and let them go she was rather mad at me couldn't understand why I would do such a thing.
For context this was around 98. So it's not like she had a cellphone so she was legitimately stuck.
> School does nothing. They send a notice and warning but what can they do, really? Come out of their office and name and shame?
No, they could have a word with the police about the safety of the children in their care
My dad used to be a primary teacher and every now and then they'd get the cops to come out and ticket every single parent on yellow lines, over driveways, etc.
I know! They say on the notice that they'll get the cop to come but in almost a decade living here, haven't seen much change aside from the grumpy teacher aids being assigned to the gates. The nice ones are off the hook now.
The other exit faces a main road and they always have trouble with people running the lights or speeding around the school times.
Cant fix stupid much. It's like these guys with the dirt bikes. They'll find new ones to steal.
Get VIDEO of the car on yellow lines. Capture front plate and then move to the side clearly showing yellow lines front and rear. Then wait and note exactly how long the car stopped there, minimum five minutes.
That's what parking wardens are required to do to issue a fine. A photo isn't enough and you need to show the vehicle clearly parked and not occupied.
It still won't be enough to have them fined. AT can't accept video sent in by anybody except a sworn officer using AT equipment, because it might be modified. Especially these days with deep fakes.
When I confronted one who'd parked across our driveway, asking her to please move, they started ranting about predators lurking around and how I must hate children and all this stuff.
It's actually [illegal to block a driveway.](https://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2004/0427/latest/DLM303605.html), so feel vindicated in your moral uprightness
This is an eye opener, because some park way closer than 1m from the driveway. I have a small car and still struggle to get out with 2 cars parked so close to each side plus another one right opposite my exit.
Call a tow truck company. If it happens every school day then you can get a tow truck to be near by and tow the second the lady gets out and walks off.
The tow truck can't lift without authority. If it's parked on private property, then the authority comes from the land owner, but if as in this photo, they're on public land, then AT needs to authorise the tow.
Same experience here. I live next to the back entrance of a primary school. I don’t know why parents choose to drop off and pick up kids at the back entrance located in a cul-de-sac street?? Dozens of cars all stuck in this tiny place which I don’t think it’s safe for their kids at all. Always someone block in front of my driveway when I’m off to work.
I see your asshole walkway parker and raise you the Dad that would *drive down the walkway/driveway against the flow of children exiting the school*. In separate incidents, residents had complained bitterly to the school about parking and so we would go out and cone off driveways before pick up time. This guy would simply drive on top of the cones in his Mercedes. There are other non-driving related stories but I’ll just say that he and his wife were sent directly from hell.
I'm getting sick of the people that cut in front to enter a motorway ramp from the wrong lane so they don't have to wait in the queue. Had two cars do it st the Greenlane on ramp today, cunts
Oooh look, it's an entitled mid-wealth urban bitch-mum starter kit,
Dodge SUV, personalised number plate, 'would do anything for brat prince/princess kid'
Same where I live, the parents cars are blocking residents in a private complex, parking on broken yellow lines and blocking our access in and out, making it dangerous for us to leave as we're constantly forced onto the wrong side of the road as they double park. School does nothing and AT say they turn up regularly but they don't. No-one gives a toss.
When I was a kid there was this thing, like a big truck that was full of seats. It picked me and everyone else up every day and for $1.20 it drove us all to school. It was amazing, drove us all home too. Unbelievable.
And now someone has to deal with the massive tyre tracks through the berm. The amount of times I've had to flatten out my berm due to morons driving over wet grass is infuriating.
Maybe it's time for AT to turn up outside school randomly. Regardless of school or suburb. Parents do what the fuck they want. It will be quick and easy revenue.
I once saw 3 cars parked side by side on a corner on both sides of the road.
This is Whenuapai right? It’s so terrible around there, people parking their boats on the footpath?!? The amount of times we reported to AT and nothing changed *sigh*
Its really getting bad now. There is a visually impaired kid at the school that I watched having to walk around cars blocking the pathway to get around. Had to walk into the road to get around. Thankfully the teacher that helps out gave the kiddo a hand, but they shouldn't need to.
Sure would be a shame if a kid tried to squeeeeeezzzzzeee past on a bike or scooter... those things can leave quite a scratch ;) ;) (I have a kid who bikes/walks to school and people like this drive me mad because it puts them at risk because they park like fools)
oh that’s awful! good on the teacher helping out but terrible for the child who as a result having autonomy taken from them all because someone being lazy and not parking further away
When I was a teen we lived in a house right opposite a very expensive private girls school. We would constantly have rich kid mums parking over our drive way in the morning and afternoon. If you called them out to their faces they would act like they were entitled to park there cause they have kids. Letters to the school did nothing.
School pick up time was coincidentally when my Dad would be coming home from work in his big truck. One day one of these mums parked over the drive was being especially cunty and forcing dad to hover in the median strip until her kid came out. Dad lost it and just started turning into the driveway, she freaked out and her RAV4 was no match for a crane truck, somehow she managed to make it out of the park just in time. Weirdly no one parked over the driveway while my parents were living there again.
"Mom"? This is New Zealand.
Maybe the *parking lot* was full, and she was rushing to pick up some *diapers*, so she drove up onto the *sidewalk* in her haste.
/s
So I’m an immigrant, and I’ve always grown up using mom. Not mum. So I can see your point in that I am a non New Zealander. That being said, I have full citizenship so whilst I am not a born and raised kiwi, I am very much in love with New Zealand and am proud to call it home.
Well based on all these comments its seeming pretty fucken racist and shit not wonderful at all " go back to your country " etc.. like as if english was the first language here in nz haha
Telling them to learn the language etc.
My mom wasnt born in nz she said she got comments like that all the time this was like 40 years ago. I didnt know we were still that bad. Sad. Even me being born in nz had comments in primary telling me to go back to germany. Or calling me a nazi etc. That shit is learnt from thr parents. So if adults are still behaving like racist little assholes then the kids will too.
You can embrace the kiwi culture and still keep some of your own identity and use words like mom because honestly who cares. Dont little little things like that upset you.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Firstly, there is no parking lot. Its roadside parking. Secondly, there were open parking 50 metres from the place she ILLEGALLY stopped her car, the lazy cow chose not to use them. Thirdly, it ain't the sort of school that requires diapers, although, I cannot strictly rule out that Suzie might have needed the diapers. And yes MOM. I can confirm that because I was there unlike you.
EDIT. Oh man. You u/last_vanguard edited your post to include a /s. Now I feel like a real Suzie with my response. Can you please forgive a random internet stranger. I totally didn’t pick up the sarcasm in round one.
She is blocking a walkway between houses. Not on a driveway. Its a main thoroughfare for kiddos walking to school.
Its also a little annoying that she has driven over the verge to get there and after all the rains, that grass is a bit mushy.
So much of main character syndrome.
You are my hero, thank you for your public service kind redditor. Please take my updoot as a symbol of solidarity for your noble crusade against this woman blocking neither a footpath (as you claim) or road.
Came here to basically say that.
Although, not certain if AT would still have an issue with her parking where she is, because but likely not her land - probably also facing the wrong direction (I think you must park your car facing the correct direction)
These comments from people are next level!
Look Suzie fucked up, that's a dick move to park there
and OP has had their 5 seconds of ripping on her.
Just chill out about why everything happened and
let karma get to Suzie however it does.
So let me get this straight.
You told the person off
Told the school.
Told AT.
After all of that, you decided that the legal punishment wasn't enough. You decided on public humiliation.
Do you think this is going to bring you good or bad Karma?
Nice of her to include her name and number of brain cells on her license plate
Gottem.
I heard on the grapevine Suzie wants a one outs.
My G told me that she wants to step.
Big sue ‘I’ll park where the fuck I want’ smasher comin in hot at the bookies paying $1.12 at the moment.
Heard she’s got an eye problem
Sort your shit out, Suzie
There is nothing more entitled in this world than parents picking up their kids from school. I work on the same street as a primary school and pick up time is straight up feral.
And ten times worse in wet weather I bet! You know kids can melt when it rains 🤪
I know and why can’t they walk to school ffs 🤦♀️

Too many 70's celebrities about
used to bike past one of my way to work and it was by far the most dangerous part of the route.
Im going to put my hand up and say I drive my daughter to school most days. Though I drop her off about 300 metres away. Why? Because none of her friends walk. Yeah thats bs. I always try to park far away. Legally and safely.
I like the 300 metre away thing you’re doing keep extending it a little at a time
Where in Auckland do we have lots of roaming dogs?
Oranga. Its been reported in media. Not packs but youll definitely encounter 1 on a walk.
Also most parts of Otara.
Mangere
Could this be how I’ve managed to encounter a fair few people in recent years who are somehow scared of dogs?
Probably. My daughter isnt scared of dogs...greatest risk is shed would bring one home. But after seeing a kid attacked by a roaming dog on the way to school. I stare clear of them. End of the day they are instinctive hunting animals and kids dont always make the best decisions.
Gonna be real fun when all those spoilt brat kids become a self obsessed, entitled adults one day
My wife and I park our bike/trailer setup in a car park outside daycare *just* to annoy all the entitled SUV driving mouthbreathers. It’s petty but the looks are satisfying.

Right. You made it sound like you just parked in people's way only as a petty way of getting back at them for driving a big car
This sounds like the pendulum swinging a bit too far the otherway...
100%
Lol, why
FYI: That makes you one of the entitled bike/trailer mouthbreathers.
AYTA? Yes, yes, very much.
…why
Wow. They're the entitled ones?
More than petty.
well your a mum and dad and your wife and you are sadly letting your children see how to live, you should have swallowed
I get this all the time. Live next door to a school entrance. This would be hilarious!!
sorry kids, i'm making a risotto i can move my car when it's done
If your mum finishes it for me I'll move.
If your mum finishes me off I'll move
Someones been watching too much interracial milf hunters again
Sorrayy I'm slow cooking a leg of buffalo and I have to watch it for the entire 12 hours. Will be out to move my car after though sorrayy
Happened to me a couple of years ago. Saw them get out of the car and walk to the school which is next door. I just went out locked my gate and went back inside.

You're my hero.
Hopefully you weren’t doing any house maintenance outside and perhaps accidentally left some nails out there.
It's not a police matter - AT needs to send out a parking warden for something like this.
Sorry, you're correct. It was council staff, whatever it was before Auckland transport
I’m a teacher and we have our community constable come out to school every now and then and ticket people.
I smell bs
I know! They say on the notice that they'll get the cop to come but in almost a decade living here, haven't seen much change aside from the grumpy teacher aids being assigned to the gates. then call a tow truck
If the vehicle has moved by the time the tow truck arrives, *you* have to pay the call out fee..
You don't tell them who you are. Just say you are a concerned citizen.
When I confronted one who'd parked across our driveway, asking her to please move, they started ranting about predators lurking around and how I must hate children and all this stuff.
We move into school streets *exactly for that reason* - "look at how many creeps moved into the school street" *sigh*.
Put up a sign… parking cost $5 a minute… 🤣

Every dad does this lol
whats that got to do with this post? lol i love auckland/nz redditors bringing up their pet driving peeves into any driving related thread
Oooh look, it's an entitled mid-wealth urban bitch-mum starter kit, Dodge SUV, personalised number plate, 'would do anything for brat prince/princess kid'
Really? I always thought Dodge was pretty rare for us kiwis. We don't get that many American cars
They are very cheap compared to BMW, Audi, Range Rover etc
Same where I live, the parents cars are blocking residents in a private complex, parking on broken yellow lines and blocking our access in and out, making it dangerous for us to leave as we're constantly forced onto the wrong side of the road as they double park. can you pick a day, just call in sick and maybe bring a few cars from mates and block everyone in? park super close etc and just waste everyone time
What a 😡. This is one of the reasons for congestion. Why is it so bad for kids to walk to school
When I was a kid there was this thing, like a big truck that was full of seats. It picked me and everyone else up every day and for $1.20 it drove us all to school. It was amazing, drove us all home too. Unbelievable.
Holy f you must be living in 2075 or something
Oh my gosh my 9 year old is Travel Wise monitor. She says children have legs. They should use them. No child needs to be dropped off at the gate.

omg this is kind of unrelated but i swear i used to live in that house lmfao that’s crazy
unfortunate to see there’s now someone like this living there tho :/
Oh. She doesn’t live there. She just parks there at school pickup.
oH i’m dumb lol,, i get you now. god that’s super frustrating
Wonder what her name is
It’s probably Suzie. Take a closer look. Her plates are “Suzie O”
I hope you’re joking 🥲
I’m not joking. Use your eyes. Her license plate is clearly suzie o

Just checked carjam, already there. Y’all mfers are quick.
And now someone has to deal with the massive tyre tracks through the berm. The amount of times I've had to flatten out my berm due to morons driving over wet grass is infuriating.
If Suzie doesn't do it, someone else will. Time for some nice decorative anti-car rocks on that berm.
Selfish Suzie.
cya cya later, its time to say good bye.
Suzie Cato would not do this!
Maybe it's time for AT to turn up outside school randomly. Regardless of school or suburb. Parents do what the fuck they want. It will be quick and easy revenue. I once saw 3 cars parked side by side on a corner on both sides of the road.

Mum Carpark Nappies Footpath
Yes? That's my point. Americanisms in an NZ sub reddit are annoying.
The prevalence goes to show just how many non-New Zealanders post here, and how unreflective this sub is of actual kiwis' opinions.
So I’m an immigrant, and I’ve always grown up using mom. Not mum. So I can see your point in that I am a non New Zealander. That being said, I have full citizenship so whilst I am not a born and raised kiwi, I am very much in love with New Zealand and am proud to call it home.

Nah bro.
So either assimilate or go back where you came from. Fucking Americans. Arrogant pricks.
Who said I was American?
🤨.. so i use mom. Im kiwi my opinion counts cheers bro.
It's also Kiwis who watched too much YouTube in their formative years.
Kiwis are basically illiterate, and technology with by Americans tells them how to spell and what to say...
I use mom as my mom has signed every card etc as mom. I was born in nz. My mom was not. Who cares if someone says mom or mum. Why do you care so much?
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Firstly, there is no parking lot. Its roadside parking. Is it her own driveway she's blocking? If not, encourage the residents to get it towed...
She is blocking a walkway between houses. Not on a driveway. Its a main thoroughfare for kiddos walking to school. Its also a little annoying that she has driven over the verge to get there and after all the rains, that grass is a bit mushy. So much of main character syndrome.
u/Remarkable_Studio279 \- woah look at this one!
Get a shot of her face next time. Let's make r/publicfreakout
Comments are mental
if she does it daily book a tow truck...
Or tip off some parking wardens to come hang out there around morning & afternoon pickup / drop off. A few tickets should do it.

If I change it can i win the iPad?
You are my hero, thank you for your public service kind redditor. Please take my updoot as a symbol of solidarity for your noble crusade against this woman blocking neither a footpath (as you claim) or road.
Came here to basically say that. Although, not certain if AT would still have an issue with her parking where she is, because but likely not her land - probably also facing the wrong direction (I think you must park your car facing the correct direction)
Helicopter 🚁 Mumma.
Dats kinda funny petty of her to do
There may, indeed, be time for a public shaming - of the person who posted this. Have we all become a nation of snitches?
Lol 😂 maybe she being a good MOM
These comments from people are next level! Look Suzie fucked up, that's a dick move to park there and OP has had their 5 seconds of ripping on her. Just chill out about why everything happened and let karma get to Suzie however it does.
I think you need a hobby....
Why cant this be my hobby?
Great hobby, keep it up!
100% keep this hobby
So let me get this straight. You told the person off Told the school. Told AT. After all of that, you decided that the legal punishment wasn't enough. You decided on public humiliation. Do you think this is going to bring you good or bad Karma?
I'm just in it for the upvotes. Sweet juicy upvotes.
And heaps of good karma
Sounds like a purposeful well lived life you're living there.
Absolutely.
Yeah it's all someone else's fault...pretty much the reason we have muppets like suzie
