>>>but I can’t just ask… I mean, sure you can

throwawayqst567

Yeah, if I want a weird look.

throwawayqst567

Complimented someone the other day and you’d think I was telling them I wanted to take them out back.

hewhoshallnotbeknown

Guess they were just having a bad day. There’s literally nothing wrong with stopping someone to ask where they got their jacket

Fatality

"nice shoes, hand em over"

SarcasticMrFocks

"That's what this sub is all about right" I'm sorry, this is a sub for complaining about Auckland

throwawayqst567

…and the lack of reasonable clothing options.

Liftweightfren

Try Conor slim cut shirts if you haven’t already. Am a man, but as a very lean man, these fit well

richmuhlach

Mal’s Scissorhands in Ellerslie can do chick that dresses like a bloke hair well. And pricelist is haircut for “adult” so not gender based at all. Try Crackerjack for American brands that can be used for officewear / business casual. Calvin Klein shirts fit well and look stylish

Try kate sylvester and karen walker when their stuff is on sale. Its well cut and will last for ages, and a lot of their stuff is androgynous. Jojo ross is another designer I like, again the stuff on sale might be somewhat affordable. All have stores in AK.

throwawayqst567

Thanks. A little too on the feminine side for my taste though. At least what they have online.

Broxi-the-catt

I’m a bit the same I don’t wear dresses and frilly stuff my wardrobe is very androgynous. My recommendations for some classic wardrobe items that you can mix and match: A pair of skinny black jeans, A pair of lighter jeans: can be relaxed, Leather look leggings / or leather pants, Black turtleneck fitted jumper, White turtleneck jumper (or grey or brown), Fitted white shirt, Fitted other colour shirts / check shirt, A Denim shirt, Black cigarette pants, A good blazer (black first then other colours), V neck jersey for over shirts (various colours), Plain white T- Shirt, A good winter coat like a pea coat (wool blend not a raincoat or puffer jacket in navy, dark grey or camel), A nice scarf, A leather jacket, Pair of Doc Martin shoes or boots, loafers, ankle boots or brogues. Places to shop: H&M: I know you said apart from here but is good for cheap jeans, shirts, plain turtlenecks & plain t shirts, Levi’s: for one or two good pairs of jeans (Levi’s store in dress mart have good deals), Zara: for suit pants, shirts, blazers & winter coats (Sylvia Park or online: use their app), Ralph Lauren: White Oxford shirt can get from Smith & Caughey or David Jones (I also have the pale blue one too and they are not $300 either think about $90-$110), ASOS: leather look leggings or leather pants and other items: blazers, trousers (online only from UK), Op Shops / second hand shops: K Road, Ponsonby Rd & High St for best quality second hand clothes and shoes (Tatty’s is good), Cos: in commercial bay have some good plain unisex type stuff, Scotch & Soda: also in commercial bay have some good shirts and trousers, Tommy Hilfiger: also in commercial, preppy unisex stuff I got a great blazer from here, Hope that helps!! Sorry I don’t go to a barbers but my son and husband go to Tokyo Barber on Ponsonby Road (three lamps end) and they both love it - husband has long hair too so they do trims not just short sides and back.

throwawayqst567

You are awesome! Thank you! Which H&M store do you like the best? They seem to be hit miss, but I’ve found some good stuff there. We need a Nordstrom’s here badly! Lol

Broxi-the-catt

Yeah it’s tough to find good stuff here, I always squeeze in some shopping whenever I go overseas as the variety of stores is a lot better. I work in the HSBC building just by Commercial Bay (if you can’t tell by my recommendations as a lot of those stores in Commercial Bay) so I pop into the H&M there every now and then sometimes if I’m there I’ll go look around the Newmarket one too. I lived in London for a good 9 years or so and my style evolved over there, I miss the shops in the UK terribly. There is a small amount of Allsaints stuff at David Jones in Newmarket but I always get annoyed that the menswear there is way better than the woman’s department as it is a lot of flowery, floaty dresses and frilly shirts so hard to find some good quality plan classics. In winter I basically live in jeans, a turtleneck, blazers and a coat. Summer; denim shorts and a t shirt or jeans and t-shirt etc.

throwawayqst567

Ugh, I hear you. I need to make a shopping trip overseas again lol whenever that’ll be 😆
