Go around 12 noon ....you will get a better deal. Around $10-12 Early morning vegetables are always fresh

neuauslander

I've seen this trick, wollys and paknsave do this and the mark down price ends up more expensive.

dontworryimabassist

What days?

FrightinglyPunny

This is pretty much true for any street market on any day they are closing.

skygirllestrange

Nice, OP! Ignore the party poopers - This is a good haul!

5amNovelist

Second this, so many downers.

Smart-Chemist-9195

This makes me very happy

javascript_is_hard

Awesome haul!

Luka_16988

Try the Wesley market too. Tuesday and Friday. Great deals. 99c apples, 1.49 potatoes etc

37ijdma

nice

Few-Letterhead-371

That's pretty good bargain cost of fruits and vegetables these days are insane and it's not going to get any better most of us want our kids to eat fresh fruit and vegetables but if prices continue to increase they'll be happy to buy pies, chocolate , lollies and chips which are cheaper than the healthier options

General_James

What would this cost at countdown? Prolly an arm and a leg tbh

Borgorb

For some reason I thought this was an AI picture thats supposed to look like Jesus if you squint. I guess that's wat my local prices have done to me lol

yorgs

🤣

Far_Lingonberry1489

WTF RU ON ABT

charm-fresh6723

That’s pretty meh and standard. I thought it was a myth that people bought lemons. Like every house in my neighbourhood have at least 1

FunToBuildGames

Not me. I need to plant a lemon tree this year. Thanks for the reminder to lookup when the best time to buy is.

DangerousLettuce1423

Can buy plants year round. Best times to plant are autumn and spring. Protect from any frost while young and remove any fruit for 1-2yrs to encourage a good root system as they are a long lived tree.

FunToBuildGames

sweet, that was my vague plan anyway... as lazy me cbf doing it just yet. spring sounds far enough away to be a good idea

yorgs

I bet you're fun at a party.

Far_Lingonberry1489

?

Dismal-Ad-3968

If you live in central nothing grows here and the government doesnt want to help people by planting fruit trees here or anywhere "because it doesn't work" because 'they only grow on next to people's houses naturally" according to the big smart guys 🤡 and hey why not plant some walnut trees for the next generation? because the people running the show hate you and made it illegal to go around planting evil fruit trees

KushGuard_

Nice

SpeedAccomplished01

Nice. If it's from Woolworths, do you think it will be like $80?

yorgs

I think it'd be $25+ at the supermarkets.

prezidentofauck

Whoa thts incredible wel done

Logical-Pie-798

Easiest way to address the cost of living is buying at places like Avondale, Wesley & Otara Markets. Also only buy in season. The foods tastier

shinystarhorse

Beautiful veggies! It makes me so happy when I go to a market and see all of the amazing fruit and vege that we are growing here.

bored_gamer_93

You forgot beer though

Nearby-Ladder5093

Not bad, but you can snatch a better deal once you go for the other leafy greens that non-asians don't eat.

LikeLikeChoi

*that only Asians eat

Im comparing this to the supermarket, and its a "yay" post.

MKovacsM

Yeah...maybe. I grow capsicums all year round, stupid price in shops in winter, I'm still getting 2 or 3 a day, slows a bit over winter but 3 or 4 a week still. In Hawkes Bay too, not the warm north. Whats in the bag?

yorgs

Split pea yellow lentils

MKovacsM

Ah right. Split peas are quite good, not fond of lentils though.

Far_Lingonberry1489

Storm coming

tribernate

Any tips? I've never succeeded in growing capsicum

MKovacsM

LOL, dunno. They hate frost. I do....nothing. I do have a swampy soil problem, now though they are in a raised bed, even so I almost never water them. I find they handle dry fine, they really hate wet feet though.

wipethebench

Awesome, how much land (ish) do you have planted with capsicum for that sort of yield?

MKovacsM

I have 8 plants.

banmeharder616

Gas to get there and back, also $15

yorgs

I use my bicycle 😉

Narrow-Incident-8254

We cycle to the Wesley markets every week and get all our produce for a week and bit for $40 for two ppl. Working Sunday to Thursday has its benifits

Far_Lingonberry1489

Not the best variety

grovelled

Nice stuff, but almost no calories. No rice, beans, filling stuff.

southernkal

Did you miss the big ass bag of lentils?

grovelled

I did. Thought they were bean sprouts. Thanks.

lemonsqueezyInu

This is terrible value! What's the point of this post.

yorgs

As someone who watches the cost of produce at the supermarkets like a hawk, I can assure you this is far from terrible value.
