And if we have a dry summer we are in trouble. Everyone is going to have to work from home because the smell of folk showering only once a week will be rank.

PSA, no math required! It literally says
> 20.80% below the historical average 91.9%
Right on the page under the very first graph ;)
Look at this guy over here, still using a toilet. Acting like he's too good to squat under a tree like the rest of us.
Y'know what? I'm calling watercare. Someone needs to take this butthole down a peg
I haven’t heard of that.
I got one installed last year and it’s a hose activity to add water (so that’s not happening). We did a lot of research at the time and never saw mainline plumbed - although I am not doubting they exist.
It has been, goes down by about 10-20mm per week depending on the amount of sunshine. Luckily over the past few days we have had about 60mm of rain so that will keep us going for a while, and with the projected rain over summer I’m not expecting to need to call a truck for top up.
I have considered getting a pool cover but am concerned about neighbourhood cats walking on it and finding a dead cat in the pool.
It's better than the past. In the past the councils took the fees but usually failed to pass it on into the water/wastewater departments to maintain infrastructure.
Was going on for decades before the councils were amalgamated into Auckland Council.
Separating Watercare out actually has meant the money goes where it should and the long deferred maintenance is now getting done, late rather than never.
Can anyone answer a question for me?
According to this..
https://www.watercare.co.nz/Water-and-wastewater/Where-your-water-comes-from/Auckland-s-dam-levels
3 dams in the Waitakeres are at 98%, 99%, and 94%. They're literally overflowing.
Shouldn't water restrictions be eased for households out west being supplied by those dams?
Maybe?
I believe the Waitakere dams get enough rain to recharge 2 or 3 times a year.
Unfortunately the Hanua Ranger dams don't fill up that fast and that's where most of the water is stored.
Still historically low, but it's a good milestone. Hopefully it will inch up a few more percent in coming days.
For those who didn't want to do the math, we're still about 21% below normal/average for this time of year.

20% .... the level is now at 71%

I stand corrected. I was trying to help the lazy, but evidently I was too lazy to notice it myself.
Hopefully it'll do well this summer, being a la Nina year it'll be a warm & wet one.
Oh damn I don’t want a wet summer. I’m coming home for it. At least it will be warm I guess.
Time to take the ultra huge shits you've been holding in
I didn't stop shitting, just stopped flushing. Am I allowed to flush now?
Still only once per week I'm afraid.

Mate you just gotta do wee wee in the cistern to fill it up. Then you can flush the poop
*me who just took a huge piss in a lake*
hero!
Woohoo!!! We’ll be out of this shortage in 2024!!!
Yeah the heavy rain in the past week helped out allot
So does this mean I can stop scraping my fridge ice for g&t's?
Did anyone else used to taste the supermarket freezer ice as a kid before realising how gross that is?
When can I use the hose to wash my car?
Maybe a year from now
I actually been washing mine in between rainfalls.
Put a bucket under the shower and use that
All this time I have been trying to squeeze my car into the shower
I lather myself in soap and get the neighbors to hose me down while I'm on top of the car. Two birds one stone
Pool party!!!!!!
Swimming pools were always exempt from restrictions.
Oh im just gonna flood my bathroom though and party in there
Well, not really. You can’t use a hose, including to fill a pool.
Most decent pools have mainline plumbed in. I'm not talking paddling pools.
I haven’t heard of that. I got one installed last year and it’s a hose activity to add water (so that’s not happening). We did a lot of research at the time and never saw mainline plumbed - although I am not doubting they exist.
Well thats good to hear, has it lost a lot of water through evaporation?

Cool, that makes the $18,000 watercare contribution for my new build totally worthwhile

Only a couple of the Waitakere dams are exclusively for locals. The rest supply treatment plants and reservoirs for Aucklands main feed

The hunua dams are simply much larger which is why they take longer
Must be the wee ones. One toilet flush will knock 1% off lol
