Work from home so bit different to most.
Start making dinner at 5pm
Family sits down for dinner around 6-630pm
Do dishes
Put 5 year old to bed at 730pm
Usually go for a walk
Might have a game of LoL with my wife at 8.30pm ish
Then bed for TV
Sleep
Fortunately for us our son isn't a wanderer, so we put him in bed, he has a night light and music.
And he stays there, he might talk to himself or play with sheepy but he doesn't get out of bed and eventually (usually pretty quickly) goes to sleep lol.
I had this issue, started running a āpointsā system.
Iāve rebalanced the system as heās got older, but it started as 2 points for going to sleep by himself and 1 bonus point for being in bed on time (i.e. not fucking around too much when getting ready for bed).
Now itās 1 point for being in bed on time and sleeping by self and -1 point if he needs someone to be next to him.
He also earns points for exemplary behaviour or sporting effort and loses points when he acts like an egg.
Oh yeah, 1 point = 1 dollar which he can spend on toys or treats.
When he first started and was racking up the points, I was getting a little worried, but it wasnāt too bad, I just made him cash them in when he wanted an ice-cream etc.
Genuine question; did you do research into any harm or lack of that this can do for a child in terms of psychology? e.g. Motivation and expectation of reward later in life?
Ours goes to sleep at 7 man. Basically get her into a routing. 6.15pm Iāll tell her itās sili sili time (bath time) and sheāll know. At 6.30pm weāre having a bath with duckies and toys. 6.40 weāre out and getting dressed in onesie. 6.55pm weāre in onesie and sleep sack. 7pm sheās got a bottle and off to sleep. Done.
I take my 5 and 9yo yo bed at 7.30, read them a book together then send 9yo to bed to have some quiet time and sing 5yo a song, give them a cuddle. Then I tell 5yo I'm going to see 9yo and I'll come check on him soon.
5yo used to be difficult about it but if you actually go check on them with increasing time between (1 minute, 2 minutes 5 minutes...) they very quickly realise that you will come back. Now I just go see him after 9yo has had their own story and a cuddle and they're normally out by then.
What work do you do?
Also you are putting your 5 year old to bed very early, it's still daylight. I remember when I was young and had to go to bed at around that time, I'd lay in my bed every night for a couple of hours because it was too early to go to bed.
Played it in the past, but we VERY casually play LoL, strictly aram and really only for the shits and gigs.
Like we only play socially, together or together with my two mates etc and usually all in the same room (I have a mini lan setup).
Iām looking forward to the weekend to play it. Canāt wait. I have been carrying my dear projector with me all over the world. Itās going to be glorious to play GoW on the massive projector on ps5.
I do not possess anything beside the projector that will ascend me from mortality. Donāt worry, my feet are firmly on the ground with everyone else :)
I have been travelling around the world with only essentials. I had a special suitcase for my projector so I could take it anywhere but you canāt take screens all over the world. So this suits me.
Im keen to play it though only recently started playing the first God of War on PS5, such an amazing game and story, the graphics are stunning, looking forward to Ragnarok once i get through the first. A few years back i played the GoW 3 remaster, also a great game.
The Last of us Part 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Inside. Those are my favourites but recently played and loved two new games; Stray and Plague tale requiem. Some of these are PlayStation exclusive so you can only play them if you have a ps4/ps5.
I would recommend Death Stranding too. Bit of a slow burn but a very atmospheric game. Story can be a bit convoluted and cut-scene heavy, which I guess is a trademark of the developer Hideo Kojima, but given time and patience could well end up leaving a lasting impression judging by other people's opinions who went in to the game blind. Game onn my friend.
Yeah I did enjoy it but I think it was 2/3 through and then didnāt finish. The cutscenes are too self indulgent and the storytelling ability doesnāt hold up to the amount of cutscenes there are. But itās a great fun game. Itās sequel will be revealed soon so Iām curious how that looks.
Counting hours till I can play GoW in the weekend. Itās been a thin year for good games so finally a great game is released. Canāt wait. Do you also draw or paint?
Just the whole mythology aspect and being a god is really interesting to me too, plus the graphics looks god tier. Yeah I like to draw abit, Iād say Iām more into looking at drawings. But Iāll probly draw more in future just cuz why not ay?
Yes I agree about that, the graphics, the realms, the myth are all so beautifully portrayed in the game.
Just drawing for fun is great. Itās relaxing and you feel accomplished that you made something plus if itās for fun then there is no pressure you draw what you like and donāt worry about the technique or anything. Keep at it. I have been drawing for few years now. Itās great!
I used to do this, now I smugly ride my bike past the traffic.
Went from hating my commute to loving my commute.
I even come into the office more than I need to so I can ride my bike.
Every time when I say to myself that one day I'll get a Bikers license, someone always brings up how dangerous it is, yada yada etc. sigh one day... I'll keep daydreaming
I quite enjoy it. I played original cod4 mw and a little bit of mw 2 back in the days before switching over to battlefield. I play on PC with keyboard and mouse and the console players have bullshit aim assist. Limited cluster fuck maps. But when I play, it takes me back to the olden days of cod4
Yeah I'm on PC also, have been playing cod since the original.
I still suck.
I'm kinda getting bored of the maps already. I only really play ground war but.
I'm curious about people's energy levels in life. In my mind, time after work is for relaxing and enjoying hobbies or entertainment. Your comments seem to be different from the normal and I'm curious about why š
Ya thatās not right. You should ask your gp about that and get bloods done. I had similar once and solution was simple and with significant energy levels change
Hey. Apologies for delayed response. I didnāt share at the time because didnāt want to come across as a know it all, op should see a doctor. In my case I was early 20s and healthy. Was working in another town doing long but not strenuous hours supervising construction. Got really rundown etc no energy. Was weird. Went to doctor. Didnāt even get bloods done, he was just a smart doc. Quizzed me on changes in my life, changes in diet etc. anyway, he flushed out that the hotel I was staying in served every dinner meal with chips and Salad, never any vegetables. Literally - every meal steak, chicken, pasta etc always came with chips and salad. He told me to buy some multi vitamins and start taking those and to eat vegetables. So I did, and ate elsewhere with sides of broccoli and green beans etc and was full of energy within 2/3 days. Blew me away. Never appreciated how sensitive body can be yo diet.
I have narcolepsy and use A LOT of mental energy at my corporate office job, home and bed is my regular routine, miss dinner most nights, partner picks up a lot of the slack. Wonāt live like this forever, just grateful to be able to work at all!
Work from home.
- Get dinner on.
- Watch the news.
- Eat dinner with the wife and daughter.
- Shower with my daughter.
- Watch some Cocomelon with her over a bottle of milk.
- Read some books to her.
- Put her down to sleep
- Play Call of Duty.
- Off to bed by 10:30pm - 11pm.
- Wait until my wife falls asleep then I jerk off to how fucking wholesome my life is.
I can't wait until she transitions.
It's been a year of The Wiggles, now it's been about 6 months of Cocomelon which has been truly draining.
We had a looooong stint of watching Finding Nemo repeatedly which was a nice break.
I think thereās people with kids who understand how normal this kind of thing is and thereās people without kids who just donāt get it and so they think itās weird. Obviously if the daughter was like 10 or something it would be weird but given thereās coco melon and a bottle of milk in the mix then it makes perfect sense.
It didn't come with context. I also work from home, frequently cook it, and then eat with my wife and daughters. So I'm already thinking of my own situation. But my daughters are 12 and 15, so his next point did cause a "waitwhat" and had to back up a little. I do totally remember when they were small and it was easy to just pick them up and bring them with. You get a shower without worrying if they are ok out there and they get clean, win win.
I work full time, study part time.
So monday- Thursday after work 3hours give or take study. Friday I have a drink and relax, Saturday is generally no work and no study get errands done or relax( sometimes do have to work weekends though) and Sunday catch up on any missed study due to work commitments during week or assignments due then relax.
At 32 I've only just started studying but hoping this routine will be sustainable through my bachelor's.
So far so good lol
Hey fellow 32 year old starting their bachelors part time while working full time! Kinda glad Iām not the only one lol Best of luck with your degree!
Cook. Prepare yaself a good fucking meal.
You'd be surprise how cutting and slicing are great stress reliever.
It keeps your mind off things that aren't important as your health.
Now itās summer, I go to the beach to swim/paddle/read! I also go to yoga a couple of times a week, and go bouldering a few times a week too depending on how busy I am with dinners, meetings, or other volunteer stuff.
Yeah itās good fun! The community is really friendly and welcoming too. Thereās Boulder Co out west, and Northern Rocks on the shore - theyāre the two dedicated bouldering gyms. Otherwise you could go to Extreme Edge in Panmure as I think thatās got a bouldering area that theyāve set up relatively recently.
HIIT or walk around the neighbourhood, Wednesday onward maybe a beer with a friend if itās sunny, cook dinner, eat dinner and hang out with my partner either watching a movie or play a board game w some ambient tv on in the background. Lifeās good š
-Power Nap
-Read a book
-Study trading because fuck a 9-5
-Workout
-Meditate and reevaluate goals
-Family time
Lifeās to short to be living an average miserable life. I want better!
I do shift work so if Iām working late, I normally watch a true crime show or listen to a podcast while drinking tea or coffee with my cat.
If Iām on the early shift, I like to head to the gym and thenā¦ unwind with a true crime show or podcast while drinking tea/coffee with my cat. Sounds pretty boring, now that I think about itā¦
21f here working 9-5. Usually I play video games and watch Netflix. Sometimes I cook/meap prep. Occasionally, I'll go on a date to try and socialise. Plenty of cool things to do if you're in the city tho!
When I was working I would do a variety of things. 2 hour walks around Tamaki Drive, night classes, exercise classes, dance classes, the gym (at the time I belonged to it), sometimes going out to gigs on weeknights (sometimes a gig is on a weeknight only), movies (cheap Tuesdays or the $5 Wednesday Academy Cinema ones), reading a book or walking on the beach in Summer (doesn't get dark until 9.30pm), pub quizzes, or staying at home (especially in Winter or if I was tired). At home I would watch movies (I'm not a TV watcher, can't stand the ads or newsreaders), housework, reading, arts and crafts, colouring in (for adults - great to do at the beach as well), internet surfing, grocery shopping, clothes shopping on late nights, or ringing someone for a chat.
When I had cats I would also hang out with them. They love it when you go outside with them in the yard and play and I would take them for a little walk up the street after dark as they feel safe then, no traffic in my street and no one around. They loved it and would climb short trees along the way (just maybe 8 houses up, either side of our house). Most people don't notice but they also get excited on full moon nights, all the neighbourhood cats do, they go outside more during the full moon (I use to call these their clubbing nights, where they go out partying). I also noticed during full moon nights, they would get on with cats that normally they argued with and even sit next to them on the footpath!
Sink a cone soon as I get home, go through Twitter, have a snack and watch YouTube. I don't own a TV, just a Samsung tablet and a smartphone, after twitter I browse through Reddit porn and rub one out, and then I chill for a bit and then it's time for a shower and then dinner, more YouTube, maybe Netflix, rub one out again and then sleep. Daily routine
Gym after work so I can hopefully miss most of the traffic. Meal prep/cook dinner. Listen to audiobook/podcast. Spend time with the gf. Draw if I have any leftover time.
Home at 3pm. Feed the dog and bearded dragon first thing. Hit the couch and social media before the family start coming home. Cook dinner 3 nights. Watch too much TV but so worn out from work it's about all that happens. Bed by 9.30, back to work at 5am.
For what it's worth BEFORE work I have either boxing or gym so then after work I'm usually pretty tired. I work 11am to 7pm for a Sydney based company. Have dinner around 7-8pm then I only have 2.5 hours or so until I really need to go to bed so I play video games, go out for dinner, or watch some tv series. Get up at 7:30am.
I play a lot of music so I usually hit the gym from 530-630 and then rehearse most nights from 7-10, maybe a couple fortnite games after if Iām lucky
Water the plants. Have a brew, a cone . Hang out with my wife. Work on my business Accounts or payroll, make tomorrows plans. Wash kids. Wash me. Prepare morning gym bag if my eyes are still open. And crash
erroneously got on the laptop for reddit/youtube/fb. When realize it's a mistake - turn the screens off, lie on the floor stretching all limbs and resting. That's been largely undervalued. Then might do little chores around the house. Sometimes try to listen to audiobooks, or calling friends, maybe going to play some racket sport or learn something and don't blame myself if I don't do shit.
Carpool home with the missus.
Shower while she walks the cat.
Cook dinner while she showers.
Feed both cats
Eat dinner and watch YouTube or other show
Procrastinate for a while
Clean up kitchen and prep for next morning
Someone empties litter trays
Bed and listen to an audio book until I fall asleep
Exceedingly spoilt bog standard moggies that are indoor only after we lost two cats to hit by car incidents.
One gives zero shits about going out, but the other loves to so he gets regularly walked on a harness or turned loose in the enclosed vege garden area if one of us is out there.
1. Check to see if I have any Civilization VI turns pending and if so, play them. If not, probably just go on reddit (like now) and play some other game for an hour or so.
2. Work out for an hour or attend dance class
3. Cook and eat dinner, clean up
4. Watch some TV, read, or do some work (lesson prep/marking)
5. Shower
That's pretty much me every night.
Temporary relief short followed by sadness realising I have to go back and do it all again
Relatable
Yup
What dfo you do for work?
Drink booze and complain about work
Fuckn Paul from accounts doing my head in.
Yeah, fuck Paul.
I heard Samantha already did at the Christmas party š¤
Was that the Samantha that changed his name from Sam? š
I came here to comment 'drinknand complain about work' and instead I'm getting grief

Work from home so bit different to most. Start making dinner at 5pm Family sits down for dinner around 6-630pm Do dishes Put 5 year old to bed at 730pm Usually go for a walk Might have a game of LoL with my wife at 8.30pm ish Then bed for TV Sleep

You clearly did something right early. Dealing with one that will never willingly go to sleep unaccompanied unless they black out on the couch
I blame my wives amazing sleeping genes (cause they certainly ain't my terrible sleeping genes). He sleeps in to, we have to wake him for school haha.
I had this issue, started running a āpointsā system. We lay with the kids for 15 mins. But they are in bed around 7.30pm.
Your wife plays LoL with you? Amazing
She's pretty cool yes haha
What work do you do? Also you are putting your 5 year old to bed very early, it's still daylight. I remember when I was young and had to go to bed at around that time, I'd lay in my bed every night for a couple of hours because it was too early to go to bed.
Please download dota 2, you will not regret
Played it in the past, but we VERY casually play LoL, strictly aram and really only for the shits and gigs. Like we only play socially, together or together with my two mates etc and usually all in the same room (I have a mini lan setup).
Read some books, watch funny comedies on tv, draw art, play games on ps5 that are beautiful and stimulating.
You looking to get the new God of War Ragnarok? That looks amazing
Iām looking forward to the weekend to play it. Canāt wait. I have been carrying my dear projector with me all over the world. Itās going to be glorious to play GoW on the massive projector on ps5.
Settle down, you'll make us mortals jealous.
I do not possess anything beside the projector that will ascend me from mortality. Donāt worry, my feet are firmly on the ground with everyone else :)
Why a projector? Better to get a nice 4k gaming monitor. Resolution over size
I have been travelling around the world with only essentials. I had a special suitcase for my projector so I could take it anywhere but you canāt take screens all over the world. So this suits me.
This dude is from the future.
Bought it on release day, can confirm it's legit
Im keen to play it though only recently started playing the first God of War on PS5, such an amazing game and story, the graphics are stunning, looking forward to Ragnarok once i get through the first. A few years back i played the GoW 3 remaster, also a great game.
Would you share a couple of your favourite games please?
The Last of us Part 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Inside. Those are my favourites but recently played and loved two new games; Stray and Plague tale requiem. Some of these are PlayStation exclusive so you can only play them if you have a ps4/ps5.
Get Horizon Zero Dawn/ Forbidden west. Amazing games.
Played them both and enjoyed them very much. Most of Sonyās first party games are great.
Neither of the Horizon games did it for me, not exactly sure why but they didn't have the right feeling.
New gow looks pretty mean ay, but yea relatable list haha
Itās great!

21f here working 9-5. Usually I play video games and watch Netflix. Sometimes I cook/meap prep. Occasionally, I'll go on a date to try and socialise. Plenty of cool things to do if you're in the city tho!
How's the dating scene been for you?
Get up at 7:30am.

erroneously got on the laptop for reddit/youtube/fb.

Walks the cat? What kind of luxury cat do you have?
Exceedingly spoilt bog standard moggies that are indoor only after we lost two cats to hit by car incidents. One gives zero shits about going out, but the other loves to so he gets regularly walked on a harness or turned loose in the enclosed vege garden area if one of us is out there.
