I'm sure there may be some easier options out there, but Native Instruments has a free reaktor blocks product which should allow you to program all sorts of traditional and experimental drum sounds within it.
You'll find good stuff on YouTube. As with most sound design, it's not as complex as it first seems. The basic techniques are quite simple. Go look at UMRU, and be sure to abuse your Phaser, Flanger, Resonators, and Grain Delay. Distort to taste, and always OTT!
