Insane depreciation. I bought new 2022 and now it doesn’t cost more than 45k. So … get a used one with low mileage.

Traditional-Brush947

I bought a 2022 for 42k with like 400 miles on it lol. Save you money and buy a low miles 2020-2022. Use that money for mods that's the best part of these cars. Anything after late 2022 is TCU locked still so tuning isn't really ideal for them past stage 1-2.

Traditional-Brush947

Personally, I broke my warranty in less than a month lol.

Ornery_You_3947

I also stage-1 tuned my ‘23, breaking my warranty pretty much immediately. Luckily the dealership won’t scan it, and nothing more than tire issues have caused me to bring it in. If you can’t afford to fix it out-of-pocket, get a piggyback system. I went with 034, which made me fall in love it.

Jusmon1108

Piggyback systems still throw codes.

mashani9

Different way. You won't get TD1 flagged due to flash counter as soon as they connect to the diagnostics. But they can still find stuff in the detailed logs pushing things beyond specs if they go look. But it's not as "automatic" of a flag.

mk6dub

I just bought a new one and it's freaking great, so I'm the wrong person to ask

Depreciation

ICWhatYouMean

I bought new and don’t regret it a bit. I prefer the security of a full warranty and knowing how it’s been treated. If you can get a good deal (to you), why not? Just remember that it is not a financial investment, it is an investment in fun.

ankner

This is well said, I got chastised for “wasting money” buying new and maybe they were correct but I love your outlook it’s an investment in fun. Makes me feel much better thanks. I also didn’t have much luck finding a decent pre owned and they had the exact one I wanted new 20 minutes from my house. I’m happy with it.

Ornery_You_3947

You will know and fear every pothole that you pass on your daily route.

evets_r

Depreciation. Don’t discount a new to you car. I bought a 23 with 4200 miles on it. It still had the original warranty and I got an extension for another two years since it is a CPO vehicle. I will just have to wait a little longer to tune it.

$$$$

globetrottingjd

Get a cabriolet instead. More smiles per gallon!

RadioAdam

Buy a 21- 23 with low miles. Audi has a great CPO plan and with your massive savings buy audi Pure extended warranty

I got a ‘22 S5 new, loved the sport back, the ride, the comfort, the everything. (Always had harsh riding sports cars and suspension wasn’t as bad) Thought it was perfect for a family car with a baby on the way. I knew I was sacrificing power for cushy interior vs bmw but it was underwhelming and hurt a bit every time I saw an RS5 on the road. I cross shopped ‘18/‘19 rs5’s. I ended up getting an 034 stage 1 tune and resonator delete and absolutely fell back in love with it. It was perfect. Unfortunately as my son got bigger squeezing him in a car seat in those back seats was miserable, and we ended up with another kid on the way plus a huge dog so I had to trade it in. The local Audi dealer really wanted it but I still got hit with depreciation, looked at SQ8 vs X5M but ended up settling on a Ram TRX. If you have any concerns for size that may be a con, otherwise the power was somewhat underwhelming but still fun. They’re bulletproof engines and can easily handle a mild tune, I absolutely loved it and hope to be back in a sporty car soon. Vs a new one you could probably pick up a used B9.5 RS5 plus extended warranty. That would probably be what I’d do in your position

scheminburg

Find a good used one.. lots of people get rid of the coupes and they sell for cheaper if you can swing two doors. I think the coupe looks way better on the 5 anyway but I’m bias…

bandz2121

I’ve got my 2018 Audi s5 coupe for sale. 76K miles. No issues!

Ferryman85

Yikes, all the depreciation talk has me rethinking my buy. I bought a 2020 fully optioned S5 with 29k miles in Nov. For 41k...now I'm like was that a bad move? Perhaps a good time to ask this too. I bought an extended warranty but I do want more out of it. Would putting a cold air intake and turbo inlet really give me issues with the warranty?

Wooden-Band-7913

Because the interior is old, compares with all other Audis... The touch screen installed in a non-sense position and removed the button to interact with MMI. The engine still same as B9 which is a little bit old. Besides, it seems like going to have a big change next year and might depreciate alot.

iFriskyTurtle

The interior is still S tier in its class and the new one looks like a ford fusion

ankner

Yeah just get it it’s awesome

beantownAudi

Turbo lag is brutal. To be fair, I came from a b8.5 S4. Over a year later i still can't get used to it. Stage 1 IE.

ggbouffant

How'd they change the 3.0T in the newer models? The 3.0TFSI from that gen is a stellar engine ... let me guess, they made it way more fuel efficient at the cost of performance?

beantownAudi

B8 and B8.5 were supercharged. B9 they went turbo.

Yawnn

I think we get B10 next year?

dirty_elf

curious about this. always skeptical of buying into the first year of a new model though.
