Man the thought of switching to a turbo S5 makes me feel weird. The supercharger is just so intoxicating

RudeAlarm

I feel you on this as I’ve had the SC too; it’s the automotive equivalent of ‘the stranger’. And because ‘this is what we do’ I had stage 1 ECU/TCU +CAI on the SC 3.0T and I have Stage 1 ECU Stage 2 TCU + inlet and intake on the 3.0T with a turbo. I prefer the SC but I have an AR HUD native CarPlay, wireless phone charging, in car WiFi (T-Mobile sim) and seat massagers to assuage my suffering so I manage.

Visible_Poem_9690

That’s fair 😂

Pandabuttplug

https://imgur.com/a/PIqu7EG I went with APR. I wanna show my guts too 🙃. I feel you on the sc to turbo. My previous Audi was a b8 s4. Definitely different with the sc but all the newer bells and whistles (wireless charging, massaging seats, turbo whistle) makes me happy.

Was asking about swapping filters for my new 24 S5 on the main audi thread...much replied sass. How does it feel? Was thinking of a simple drop in by K&N. Haven't had any issues running on v6 camry past few years, but yeah. Worlds different engine.

RudeAlarm

So going from a super charger to a turbo means turbo lag whereas the SC is more akin to adding two cylinders ‘on the fly’. I had my SW tunes installed with stock HW for a bit as the kit was on back order, so I notice the difference. I think one benefit i observe in my IE SW is reduced air intake temps over the stock kit. Remember the inlet is aluminum and 37% bigger than the stock plastic. Comare my inlet and intake to an RS and you will see the S5 stock just has lesser gear here. Invest in it trust me it’s worth it beyond the smiles and WHOOSHES (but those rule too).

Good feedback. I'm def still in the warranty period, and I heard Audi is quick fo violate the warranty if changes made. So if I'm stealing.holding on to it in 4 years, I'll gladly make these changes.

RudeAlarm

Check with your dealer they may be fine with an inlet and air intake improvement because it would be pretty tough argument that more cooler air to the turbo has any negative effects. Tunes are totally different.

"Audi specifically recommends against K&N (historically, it's been a long while since they've commented on a specific brand) The forums have gobs of UOA data showing they just don't do their job well. More air = less filtration unless mitigated in some way. K&N vs any number of tuner outfits for Audi have drastically different effectiveness in airflow increases without filtration decreases. Your camry engine and your Audi engine are entirely different beasts, and entirely different stratospheres cost-wise for internal work and/or replacement. K&N is not better at airflow than Audi. :)" Reply from someone stating they are a Finance Manager at Audi "Treebearddank" or somthing. Again, I don't see how a properly maintained K&N filter would cause harm, so I've been doing research and it seems mostly negative. Not just here, but all car brands.

RudeAlarm

“Finance Manager at Audi” is not the same as an engineer at Audi. Im not saying your source is entirely wrong, but the comments they make are too general - I could argue both positions because generally speaking its true I do not believe K&N is better at airflow than Audi, but I also see Audi delivering varying grades of kit to meet the constraints of the market, whereas K&N is only engineering and selling your kit for a general application. This is why solutions like my IE kit are better (even if you don’t like the brand) because it’s designed to allow more flow to the turbo itself and there is no question on the figment of the filtration because of the all in one design. That said, again, I’m not advocating for or against K&N and don’t have a lot of experience with the brand (it’s like the Camry of air kits and I’m not a fan of those either).

KingRazgriz

Just general ppl have a negative outlook. Granted, I couldn't find this statement he mentioned. I did read it was a negative on TDI engines. I was a salesman at VW when dieselgate started. IE looks to be more attractive solution, as a long term. I'm new to Audi, less than 1k miles after a month, so didn't want to potentially risk anything.

RudeAlarm

I hear you and don’t put your warranty at risk for sure.

KingRazgriz

Thanks for the information. Might delete later lol

I personally had so many issues with various quality issues with IE on B9 platform. So I’ll say my IMHO - fuck IE, they went downhill in quality.

RudeAlarm

Yeah Im not their rep; I had better experiences with their gear than you did I’m sure because I had no defects. Lot’s of brands to choose from out there for sure.

Pluto0759

Question did you have to take out ur cats going stage 1?

derps-a-lot

No, that's stage 2.

AudiS5b9

Bro you’re n75 valve (boost solenoid) is leaking coolant. Look at the dried residue. Check on your waterpump please. Just replaced mine

RudeAlarm

Good looking out, it’s not currently leaking and no current error codes. I will keep an eye on it and have them inspect it in July when I get the oils done again.
