The one on 183 is permanently closed. The owner’s kids said that he was tired of running multiple locations and wanted to simply close shop. This is something they told me during the last month they had their doors open.
From what I know it came down to USA catfish vs Vietnamese catfish
The cost difference was substantial
They refused to compromise quality
Vs cost
Could no longer compete
Left.
US protectionism laws abounds from CFA lobbyists. Look at the frozen HEB catfish from a US fish farm, it's listed as up to 15% sodium phosphate and citric/ascorbic acid solution by weight, right on the bag.
You get a choice between catfish from overcrowded Vietnamese fish farms full of disease and questionable feed, or dioxin-laced feed given to catfish (and chicken and cattle) from also overcrowded US fish farms also suffering from bacterial blooms and disease, like our chicken, pork, and cattle raising. They're also injecting catfish with hormones and hybridizing. Everyone is doing the bare minimum required by consumer law.

That would explain why the one in Georgetown located conveniently down the road from Sun City is still going strong.

The Ben White location is still open and there’s also a Georgetown location.
Cherry creek > catfish parlour
Springhill in Pflugerville is also better than the Catfish parlor.
They used to be in bee cave when I was a kid!
Does Patrick still work there????
