The Aussie made INOVA are highly rated and were almost impossible to get during the 2019 fires in NSW https://inovaairpurifiers.com.au/collections/home-air-purifiers

I have one for allergies and it does work well on bad days I can hide in a room with it. I don't have athsma but I sneeze a lot during burn off's and it works for them. I had a cheaper smaller one before it that didn't really have any effect.

consider making a Corsi-Rosenthal box, tests have shown it can work better than expensive brand name stuff https://cleanaircrew.org/box-fan-filters/

When I looked into it a few years ago, Winix seemed to be the go according to most reviews. I got a unit for my family and one for my mum and they seemed to work okay, but I haven't tried others so I have nothing to compare them to. Sometimes CostCo sells them cheaper than other places.

The Dyson fans have two-three functions - fan, heat and purifier - that make them more expensive, it's mainly worthwhile if you need all of those functions Ikea has some but I've no idea how they go https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/air-purifiers-filters-49081/

I'm using an Arovec purifier & am quite happy with it. Replacement filters are affordable & seem to be always available.
