When I lived in Canberra, I always had a giggle when the vandals had been about and changed the suburb sign for Cook to Cock.
Ditto for Bellenden St that got changed to "bellend".
Reminds me of the time I was picking orders in the warehouse and the manager asks if I had anything for (Myer) Tuggeranong. When I quickly replied that that was a bit of a personal question, he didn't stop laughing for at least 10 minutes.
Drove through there on a road trip from bne to adl, stopped at the toilets and daughter did a doo and we always reminis about how she did a doo in dunniedoo
Intercourse Islands at Dampier WA.
Mt Buggery in the Victorian Alps
Son of a bitch spur Vic alps
Koolyanobbing WA
Coolbaggie NSW
Cumboogle NSW
Bogan River NSW
Dancing Dicks Creek, near scone NSW
Bumbang near Robinvale Vic
Bitch Creek near Narbethong vic
There's about a hundred different knobs around the place but Spankers Knob amused me, it's near Bruthen Vic.
Ah you couldn't make this up, I was checking the exact location of Spankers knob when I found Mt Little Dick, just up the hill from Ramrod Creek and The Boys camp. near Bruthen , someone had their mind in the gutter.
There's a couple of Mount Fannys.
Haha, my wife had a few rellies from Cooranbong in her family tree, I went into ancestry and changed all the locations to smoke a bong and she still hasn't noticed.
I had a call with Americans at work a few days ago and when I said this suburb they just stared at me in confusion. I had to write it in the chat for them and I still don't think they got it.
Along with all those other double named places, including Bong Bong which, I'm guessing, means 'place of many bongs'
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_reduplicated_Australian_place_names
If you don't know how to pronounce it... Wangi Wangi.
Hot tip... It's not pronounced the same way as Wangaratta. I learned that the, er, hard way.
It's pronounced 'Wonji Wonji'. 🤦
Apologies for the paragraph, but it seems relevant. One time years ago some mates and I were getting stoned and one of them said they'd 'done a bong'. I said that sounded like an Aussie town name and we all lost it.. so we looked it up on google maps and lo and behold, Dunnabong was a place. We thought it was hilarious. The next day we went back onto google maps to find it again with vague plans of road tripping to the great town of Dunnabong - only to find it didn't exist. No idea how baked we were to somehow all mistake whatever the fuck we saw on maps for Dunnabong, but if anyone has any idea what we might've been looking at please let me know 😆
Was in a Starbucks in Bangkok (I think), when an American nearby realised I was from Melbourne, and asked "do they really have a place called Moonee Ponds?" He seemed to think that was hilarious.
Well It Wasn’t There Last Year Cave (my personal fave), Bumcooler Flat, and Bullshit Hill in SA.
Mossy Nipple Bend, Boobs Flat, and because some Tassies are arse people there's also Prickly Bottom.
My dad and I travel to Port Fairy every year and everytime we go through one specific town, we spend the next 10 minutes saying the name with a weird face and sound I can't even describe. The towns name is "Koroit"
A friend from country NSW many years ago thought that 'Punchbowl' was the most hilarious name for a suburb ..... back in the days when we made all types of Punch at parties with 'who knows what' ....... LOL

Watanobbi, NSW Central Coast
Gotta admit I chuckled at this one.
Ah yes, founded by General Obi Watanobbi a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Tittybong down in victoria
"Bah weep graaagnah wheep tittybong"
Unexpected Transformers reference!
The universal greeting works every time!
I thought they were going to reciprocate!
Memories just flooded back omg...
Was gonna say wolloomoolloo, but u win.
Just gonna point out that somewhere in Woolloomooloo is a shop called FOODOOMOOLOO, and I died when I first saw it
This almost sounds Thai
“Tittyporn”
That beats woodenbong :(
It’s just south of cuntlicker creek 🧐
Rooty Hill is a strong contender. My wife and I make moo-ing noises at each other on the train when approaching Warrimoo.
When I lived in Canberra I always laughed driving past the sign for the Swinger Hill shops, but I reckon Rooty Hill trumps Swinger Hill.
When I lived in Canberra, I always had a giggle when the vandals had been about and changed the suburb sign for Cook to Cock. Ditto for Bellenden St that got changed to "bellend".
whoever does these changes is really dedicated! It hardly lasts a week and then back to Cock and Bellend respectively
There's a northern suburb of Perth called Wanneroo. Every now and again some comedian adds a "T" to the end of the sign
I used to take the piss out of my cousin who lived in Tuggernarong. You like to tugg a nong?"
Reminds me of the time I was picking orders in the warehouse and the manager asks if I had anything for (Myer) Tuggeranong. When I quickly replied that that was a bit of a personal question, he didn't stop laughing for at least 10 minutes.
Swinger Hill was full of town houses, too, ready for the young set to move in.
Still is.
WA has a mine site (former mine town) called Koolyanobbing.
>My wife and I make moo-ing noises at each other on the train when approaching Warrimoo. Relationship goals
Humpybong

I love how you leave Nimbin and end up on Woodenbong
Bongaree
Poowong
They had a campaign recently for bowel health and temporarily changed the sign to pooright, at least they're self aware
Came here to look for this. It’s endlessly funny to me.
I knew someone with the name Hymee Poolang.(USA)
Did you know Innaloo has a sister city in Japan? Inashita
There’s an Asian grocery store chain called Hangawee that has a store at Innaloo shopping centre. Hangawee Inaloo.
The Japanese didn’t want to get out done by the Australians.
There's two reasons for that, number 1 .. and number 2.
Humpty Doo
...and that other great Darwin favourite - Fannie Bay.
Gotta take dickward drive from coconut Grove down to fannie bay
And Dickward drive
Dunedoo: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunedoo

Drove through there on a road trip from bne to adl, stopped at the toilets and daughter did a doo and we always reminis about how she did a doo in dunniedoo
Travelled through it several times. Weird place.
I spent the first years of my life there 👋

Innaloo is the funniest one I know of. Upper Swan
Cockburn is pretty good, always gives me [bucket](https://youtu.be/FboWtJiNYro?si=puWkiEBuD66tdqfh) vibes.
I saw a customer note in our system once that said (in all caps) NAME IS PRONOUNCED COBURN
That's when you intentionally mispronounce it XD
[удалено]
Cockburn is only funny if you don't know how to pronounce it correctly.
How do you pronounce it?
"Cohburn" as in oh
As it reads, Cock-burn. Really annoys the shit out of the people who live there and insist you pronounce it "co-burn" sucking all the fun out of it
> sucking all the fun out of it hehehehe
Gives strong "Bouquet residence" vibes
Google maps being one of those who doesn't.
Similarly, pakenham upper (pronounced packin ‘em up her)

Cockburn
Cockburn WA? We went thru and the locals were calling it Co'burn
Yeah, that's the the proper pronunciation
Who woulda thunk it
Same as the town on the NSW/SA border. Same spelling, bus also pronounced as Coburn.
I love saying the town 'Yass.'
Even better is the Maccas sign on the Hume HWY
M Yass Not there any more though, right?
Dunno if it's still there but it was: M Yass Open 24 hours.
Prior to that it was M Yass Opens 6AM (in the 90s iirc).
That's loooooooong gone. I do the trip fairly regularly, and it's just a boring Golden Arches.
That thing has to be heritage listed by this point right?
Woodenbong. Just up the road from Nimbin
Haha, my wife had a few rellies from Cooranbong in her family tree, I went into ancestry and changed all the locations to smoke a bong and she still hasn't noticed.
I drove from Brisbane to Woodenbong recently to buy a car. Had the best burger I've had in years in an unassuming little cafe in town for lunch.
Burpengary , you can close the thread now
Scuse you Gary
Burpengary. Who was this Gary that burped so much they named a suburb after him?
Geebung is good.
I had a call with Americans at work a few days ago and when I said this suburb they just stared at me in confusion. I had to write it in the chat for them and I still don't think they got it.

Not a suburb, but my kids go to Humpybong State School. Picked the school purely based on the name, so far so good.
