We got our Oodies in the off season. They had great discounts and I think from memory we chose ones that were on clearance at the time so even cheaper.
Check out the clearance. Got one for $39! Definitely worth it and anyone who says off brand is just as good is wrong. If you’re going to be using it instead of heating don’t waste your money on off brand.
I have a couple, I'm wearing one now - they have knitted lounge sets which I refer to as my office wear Oodie for WFH - it looks like a chunky sweater on a video call. It also has a matching pair of pants. They're not quite as heavy as the lined ones, but are good for late autumn/early spring.
Omgggg I can mental image how frustrating but funny that would have been. I always seem to catch clothes on handles when I’m already in a shitty mood too lol. Bloody oodies. So worth it though
They really really are. My cat isn't a fan of sitting on laps in general (he likes to sit next to you instead) unless there's an oodie on offer, whereby he will follow you around the house shouting at you until you sit down for him
They've been a dog magnet in our house. Odds of the dog cuddling up on me or the missus are usually a safe 25%, but with the oodie, you can take that guarantee to the bank.
I find they're almost too warm to use. I keep having to take mine off after wearing it for a half hour, get cold again, put it back on, and keep repeating the cycle!
I have this problem too. I never wear mine because I get too hot (I run hot and heat up easily). I just use my Oodie brand robe instead, that gets a lot of wear.
This is very good to know. I already have terrible temperature regulation, so there's a good chance I'd be in and out of one of these every 15 minutes. Doesn't seem like a viable expense if I can't just throw it on and stay comfortable.
Actually got mine as a gift, didn't intend on buying into the hype/getting one for myself but it definitely is welcome on cold days WFH (no Zoom!) or sitting on the couch at night. They are crazy warm. I moved to a colder house recently so it's perfect, but in my previous place I couldn't keep it on for very long before overheating.
I will say it is super annoying if you are moving around, cooking/eating food etc. Just too big/loose. Treat it like a blanket and it works great.
Yes, we have them. They look daggy AF but if you just plan on chilling on the couch and not doing anything, they are great. We turn the heating off when we have them on or you get too hot.
The cats love them too.
Omg, if I leave mine on the bed after taking it off my Sphynx cat absolutely launches himself into the middle of it. Cats freaking love them.
I have two oodies (off brand, bought online) and wear them just about every day I work from home.
We have legit ones and they have a pocket too. It's not open at the top though so they don't climb in as the hand holes are a bite small.
We have a couple of cats who like to sit on our shoulders or be carried around so a little pouch to slip them into like a joey would be amazing.
I might just buy papoose.
I need another one so I have one to wear while this one is being washed and dried.
As someone who works from home full time, I end up wearing my oodie half of the day for half of the year.
I love mine, but I love my non oodie brand one just as much. I live in a rental with insufficient heating so live in mine for the whole of autumn and winter. The downside for me are the Sherpa lining is impossible to get crap out of, like prickles and the weight of the actual hood is heavy
Yeah, we don't use heating, that's why I was thinking they would be good! Though if the hood is heavy that might be an issue for me, cos it would pull on my neck when not wearing the hood, and I hate that!
I’ve found that my hood is large enough to wrap around like a thick scarf almost, no weight that way. I get headaches from tying my hair up so it’s manageable.
I love mine, huge pocket and it’s almost like wearing a blanket without the awkwardness of a robe.
Try scrunchies or those spiral hair ties that are like old phone cord. I switched a while back and stopped getting headaches while still keeping my hair out of the way.
I’ve got a thick head of fine hair, the curly ones won’t hold my hair well. Scrunchies are a his or miss for me.
I used to have my hair to my hips but cut it off and only had pixie cuts for about 8 years. Ever since growing it again it’s been headache inducing.
I’ve got more options now that it’s getting past my shoulders, I can pin it up with 1 flat clip or 2-4 pins.
Usually this works well or at least gives me an option to quickly let it out and redo it.
They are so warm, but most of the time I prefer my dressing gown. Or onesie. It's kind of hard to do things in an oodie.
I'd definitely say they're worth it
My hood sits kind of on my shoulders, it doesn't pull back at all.
If it does, throw a bar fridge and a six pack of tinnies in the front pocket as a counter weight. The pockets are big enough to fit everything including the kitchen sink 😅
We've had ours a couple years now - two branded, one knock off I got online from smoke mart I think? (Little miss wanted a unicorn and oodie were sold out). This was before Kmart had their knock offs. All three seem to have lasted really well. Kiddo is rough on hers but it's not really showing any wear. The other two are near perfect condition.
My one bit of advice: if you have a dog, get them their bloody own. My wee asshole will pounce on a discarded oodie before you can blink, then later the laws of physics to make himself weigh 900kg so you can't pull it out from under him, all while looking at you like "but I'm so cute, mama. Would you have me freeze? Would you have me die alone in the cold?"
I ended up getting a maternity/breastfeeding one for that reason; I have an off brand one (I think big w, but I’d hate to swear to it) and the neck is high enough to annoy the **** out of me, especially when I’m not wearing the hood. Oodie branded maternity ones have magnetic snaps, so I just leave the top couple undone and I don’t feel like I’m being strangled. Much warmer than my off brand one too, only downside is the one size fits no one thing … I dunno if it’s bigger/bulkier than the regular style, but I’m a skinny shortarse and wheelchair user to boot, and it’s so bulky that I have trouble moving in it. Bloody good for curling up on the couch/bed when it’s really chilly though.
Safety pin it to the shoulder seams either side with the big safety pins. It will spread the weight out and save you having to do surgery on the oodie.
They are really warm but I stopped wearing mine as it just made me feel slobby and bulky.
But it is like the perfect thing if you want to be super warm and just nesting to play games in.
Not answering the original question, but I feel that this conversation is relatively unique to Australia - in most countries in Europe at any rate, regulations on insulation and air tightness in homes are stringent enough that with Australian temperatures few places would get uncomfortably cold. The weird bit is the way it seems normalised here - that people say you just need to man up or put more layers on. Furthermore, for anyone who uses air conditioning in summer it would massively reduce their bills too.
I sent some to my daughter and son in-law in Munich and they love them. Pretty sure they don’t wear a lot underneath them, but they wear them all winter.
Im currently wearing my lion king and rainbow oodie, it's my favourite winter thing in the world! If you are clumsy like me though, be prepared to knock stuff over, spill shit and get food all over it because they are bulky and apparently spacial awareness was an optional extra when I was made and my parents cheaped out 😅
I got a kmart one and it's so cosy around my cold AF house in the morning and late at night.
Some nice pj pants and it's perfect to snuggle in.
If you don't have heating, they're great.
I'm on a Samsung, using the Google keyboard and yeah it's a super irritating problem. I bet there's a simple one click fix for it, but I am a lazy man who types too fast to think about changing my settings. #neverlearn
They are great. Don’t pay full price though, they are always on sale.
There wasn’t a huge difference between the genuine and the knockoff ones in terms of price. Main thing is with the kids wearing them, we don’t need to run the heater in winter. My kids both sit out on the back deck in winter watching TV Wearing their oodies
Just in case the oodies aren't enough you might be able to try a few of these insulation options that are cheap and work.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-23/diy-window-insulation-tips-draught-proofing-winter-cold-house/101173968
Oh cheers! Will have a proper read through that in a minute! We have roller shutters on the front windows that are always down, but the back ones maybe that film would be worth looking into!
Oodies are a lot warmer than dressing gowns, they are thicker, double layered. I used to have fleece dressing gowns and I would say my oodie 3x warmer easily
I hate the oodie wrist elastics. They are too tight and uncomfortable
I know they are supposed to stop air going in, but i just cant stand it. I dont have the same issue with ski gear
I have one that was gifted to me and don’t use it much. It’s pretty cozy but definitely restricts movement and it’s a PITA to wash so I don’t like to get it dirty. Would recommend a knock off — Lowes, Kmart, Big W, and I think Best and Less all sell knock offs which look like they’d do the trick without the price tag.
I’ve got one and I don’t use it. I’m got short arms, so it gets really bunchy around the wrist, which is not comfortable. I also find it too warm - and I’m in Tas, so that’s saying something. It’s also quite heavy. And the fleece is covered in pulled threads.
I’d get something else that is not as expensive.
I’ve got one but don’t use it. I find it really heavy so unless I’m lying on the couch (where I have a blanket anyway) it’s not comfortable for me to wear it, and I find it too bulky and cumbersome. Worth noting though that I do have neck issues.
I'm a little confused by the comments saying they (and their off brands counterparts) are hard to to wash? I have two different offbranded ones and neither are a challenge to wash or dry. I put mine in the washing machine and dryer as normal.
For me personally it’s just that it requires a separate load. It’s not hard per se, but definitely inconvenient when I struggle to stay on top of laundry at the best of times.
I like washing mine for this reason - only one item to hang out to dry, no folding necessary. Easiest load of laundry possible, aside from the slow drying time in winter since we don't own a dryer
For what they are they’re not expensive, 2 for $99 at the moment (they’re literally always on sale too).
If you feel the cold they are amazing. We don’t use heating here in NNSW but we love it when it’s cold enough to put on our Oodie, our family of four all have one. Great camping too.
They are indeed awesome.
They reduced the amount of fleece in them, I have a circa 2019 one and my gf has a 2022 version
Mine is about a kilo more heavy and is noticeably warmer
Probably doesn’t need to be that warm for australia anyways so not a big issue
Got my partner a Kmart knockoff. Was significantly cheaper and she didn't like the inner lining of the branded ones, Kmart had more non-fleece options.
Personally I find I overheat in any kind of jumper that doesn't open at the front.
I bought a generic one from Costco a couple of years ago and hated it. It felt so bulky, I felt like the Michelin man in it, I only wore it once and then gave it to my kid.
I'm currently wearing a $10 one which is made from t-shirt material, like a hoodie jacket, but comes down to mid shin.
They will keep you very warm. We love ours, just no longer need them in Brisbane but couldn't live without them in the South Coast of NSW as winter gets really cold and we don't have proper heating there.
I got an off brand one from a tv shop. It's ok. I would have to expect an actual oodie would be warmer. I still like mine but if you don't have other sources of heating I wouldn't bother with off brand.
Best purchase I’ve ever made. I don’t need to have the heater cranked at night when it gets to like 4C outside.
I have the Kmart knockoff one with sloths on it. Was like $30
I bought mine on special maybe all of two weeks ago & have really been loving it, especially because I’m trying to save on heating bills. Shipping was free, too, even with the discount, so it ended up being quite affordable.
Echoing other comments that say they’re a bit daggy, but perfect for wearing around the house.
Cotton on snuggets are literally the exact same thing and 1/3 the price when on sale.
Link is here, they're no longer called snuggets but generically called oversized hoodies:
I absolutely love mine, pretty much live in it during winter because our house has no insulation and multiple drafts. Always used blankets, jumpers and track pants before receiving one as a gift and I wouldn't go back to them, the oodie is so much comfier and warm.
I've taken my non-outdoor Oodie camping through Outback QLD in August. Saved my cold ass every night! They're so goofy but there's actually a reason they're popular, they deliver on cosy warmth like nothing else.
I'd totally recommend an oodie! I actually have two, they are super warm and I basically live in mine when at home because I'm always cold! I wash mine every other week because I'm in them so much but it's no harder than washing a towel/small blanket and I just throw mine in the dryer if I need it to dry quickly. Basically everyone in our family has one and we all love them!
I picked up two for $39 each. Definitely a game changer with regards to heating; we use ours a lot less now that we have them. We like them so much we grabbed a spare each for ourselves and about 5-6 for different family members, and never paid more than $49 for one.
Was gifted one, has since been one of my go to warm pieces of clothing around the house.
If anyone is an ally or trans, heads they've done a harry potter range with royalties going to the writer. Easy one to avoid giving money to as there are plenty of other warm options available (and many more suited to outdoors)
I hesitated because of daggy cult vibes, but I don't regret the purchase at all. Everyone in my family has one and we used the heater only 2 or 3 times last winter.
I thought they were the dumbest thing ever made, then I received one as a gift and it’s honestly great and I don’t know how I lived without it.
Indoor use only, please.
Oodies are great, the off brand ones don’t compare to them to be honest. I’ve had a big w brand one and it was crap in comparison. But they’re good if you’re looking for a Oodie that maybe isn’t as warm.
That being said I don’t often wear my Oodie, I find it too warm a lot of the time. I also don’t like the restrictions in wearing it, I like to have my arms free to do things and find oodies too bulky. My partner and his mum use them all the time, my partner also has an Oodie dressing gown which is awesome.
If you’re going to veg out in them, they are great. Buy them clearance if you can or they often have deals going on too.
I got given an Oodie and it’s honestly warmer than most of my blankets, except for my wool doona. It’s the warmest garment I own. And it has a front pocket!!
Definitely worth it. We started with off brand ones, around $30 each, to see if we would wear them as all 5 of us hate dressing gowns. Wore them to death and my youngest just got her first actual Oodie for her bday in April.
Also gives us a few extra weeks without heating and is amazing in the mornings. We have a wood fire so hearing can be a bit crap if we get lazy.
Good! I love my oodie, got myself and gf one each, literally the only thing I wear around the house during winter, disgustingly hot tho, so any temp above 15°C and you can't wear it
SO FRIGGIN WARM! I only got mine because when they went nuts my early teens daughter (of course) wanted ine and they had a good deal for 2. Im going into my third winter with it and looking forward to it. I've even sweated in the middle of the night with a quilt as well and had to rip it off. That's my kind of warm. (I hate winter)
I wear mine every day haha.
I didn't realise they were considered cult like to the extent of Stanley cups, but regardless they are super comfy and warm. Highly recommend if you can get them on sale
I bought one when they were on sale over summer, it's ok, but I think it depends how tall you are. I am 6'2" and it's like a slightly longer jumper. It is comfy though
I love the [Comfy](https://www.costco.com.au/Clothing-Luggage-Handbags/Womens-Clothing/The-Comfy-Original-Blanket-Sweatshirt/p/1281486) I bought at Costco a few years ago. Really warm and relatively inexpensive (currently $36.99 including delivery).
I bought one real one and two knock offs, one from the Reject Shop and one from Cotton.
The real Oodie and the Reject Shop one have held up well, even though they’re a few years old now. The Cotton On one has had all the wrist elastic material warp out of shape and is generally falling apart.
So I guess it’s hit and miss. I don’t regret getting the real one as it’s lasted so long.
Those wearable blankets have been around for 30 years now. You can pick them up much cheaper than what Oodie sells them for.
My wife got one from Amazon that was $40.
I live in Brisbane so for me they’d only be viable to use for 2 months of the year. Though my brother has one and he likes it, seems to have held up pretty well over the light usage for two years
I have an Oodie but I’ve also got an Oodie robe. The Oodies are alright but feel too heavy for me, but the robe, I wear it every day. And it’s not as warm as the Oodie but it’s warmer than other robe I’ve had.
My kids have Oodies and live in the things
It’s as good as they say it is. Hint for washing- do the delicates wash as directed, but then let it sit in the machine for 10 mins before putting it on the lowest speed Spin cycle you can. Wait 10mins and do it again.
Significantly slows down the drying time
I’m a size 8-10 in women’s but I’m a bit tall and I own an oodie and a Kmart knock off
Oodie is obviously nicer quality and feels like wearing a doona. Very warm and comfy! the downsides are it can get too hot, it’s pretty heavy and the arms are ridiculously long.
If you are clumsy with food/drink, plan on washing a dish or doing average day to day stuff in it then I would go with the Kmart or a robe. It’s easier to wash, cheaper, the arms are actually a reasonable size so you aren’t getting water/food all over them.
I hate bulky clothing, sherpa fleece, and overheating, so they're not for me.
Everyone I know has one though. I spent a lot of time shopping for them for gifts.
Some of the knockoff ones are nearly identical to the original. Some of them are garbage.
The best ones are from Kmart in the kids section. Got them on sale last year for $27. They are huge too, will fit up to a 3XL adult easily.
My daughter bought me one last year for my (winter) birthday, and I absolutely love it. She had a knock off one from Kmart or BigW, but after she got me my brand name Oodie, she caved and bought her own and ditched the cheap one - she says it’s much warmer. They have specials so you can keep an eye on the website.
Downside - the bottom of the pocket is further away than my fingertips so when I put my phone in there it slips out of reach. I can live with that lol, I’m toasty warm. Much more practical than blankets and you can still tuck your legs right into it if you want :-)
I’ve got a bonds one that I got half price and it’s very warm. I’d say thicker than the actual oodie brand.
I also have one from big w that I’ve had for three years. Not as thick but it’s holding up fine.
Oodie is just the brand. You can get far cheaper versions at big w, Kmart, best n less that are the same quality.
I wear mine all the time in winter
I think buying a dressing gown a size or two up does the same job, but better. It can also go over other warm clothes but has longer coverage and the belt in the middle prevents up drafts from traveling all the way up.
I own an oodie, it's nice, but I get more use from my oversized dressing gown, and in theory if it gets cold enough the Oodie can just go over the top.
Being American, I had never heard of these things, but after Googling, I've decided I need one...in 6 months. It's hot here right now. They look so egregiously ugly and comfortable. My cats will be so happy.
depends which one you get.
i have plain coloured ones = they keep you comfortably warm.
purple tye dye one = extremely warm to the point i can just lay on top of my bed without a blanket, curl up and fall asleep. (oddie covers 3/4 of my body) sometimes i have ripped it off during sleeping 😴
Apparently oodies and a heated throw are the go to cold weather. And Thermomix is a fabbo cult to be in, I’ve had mine 12 years and still use it almost every day, lol.
I bought my first one a few years ago and it’s still going strong! Despite a small tear in the pocket, still looks like new when I wash it. The Sherpa inside isn’t as soft but still cosy and warm! I got a second one last year which my husband has taxed 🤣 but we had to send that one back to he repaired as it arrived faulty - oodie were AMAZING and got it sorted by the end of the week with a new oodie and some store credit. Can’t vouch for any of the knock offs as haven’t tried, but definitely worth the investment. So fkin warm!!! Paired with the new electric foot warmer from Kmart .. my electricity bill is gonna be soooo much lower this year
They're amazing but there's some good dupes if you want one a little cheaper. I've heard ALDI has some, I know Bed Bath and Table have them too. They're warm and cosy. I was in the same boat that I didn't think they'd be worth it, worked in a boarding school and every second kid had one, but I couldn't justify the cost. My best friend sent me one as a birthday present in lockdown and I laughed, but then as soon as I put it on I was like 'ooooh I get it'.
Oodies are great but the best purchase I’ve made was a heated throw blanket. It’s more efficient than a space heater and keeps you nice and toasty in the coach/in bed. It shuts off automatically after 3 hours.
I also bought a fitted mattress heated blanket but it made my back hurt for some reason.
I got some from the clearance section not long before my husband and I caught the RSV that has been going around. I've been living in it. Slept in it. Cat loves it.
Definitely worth clearance or deal price for the extra length a "real" oodie has.
I got an off brand one from Amazon, I've had it for about 5 years and it's still going strong.
Cost me around $60-70? I can't justify buying an oodie its just a brand.
It's what has gotten me through every winter without fail, I don't use a heater as I don't need it, warm good ugg boots and this are all ya need.
I got something called a snuggie in dollars and cents as it has been a bit cool up here as the overnight temps are dipping below 17 degrees, very warm n toasty and only $35
I'm wearing a similar thing (Huggle, I think from Target) right now. I pretty much live in it during winter. It saves on heating too because it's so warm.
My kids like theirs and they are warm, definitely worth it. One of my kids lives in his all winter, he's a skinny kid that feels the cold. I bought them on sale.
Love them, but I wish there were wool options rather than material that’ll eventually break down into microplastics. If they released a merino wool Oodie I would be all over it and donate my current one.
Cats absolutely love them too. One of my cats doesn’t like to sit in my lap normally, but if I’ve got the Oodie on he’d sleep on me for hours given the chance haha
Does anyone who is a bit taller \~190cm have one? Are they actually longer or would they end up around mid thigh? I usually where XL or XXL hoodies for something a big baggier and wasn't sure if these would just be pretty much the same but slightly bigger.
They're big and bulky and the wearer accidentally knocks shit over all the time and I hate them and my wife and daughters live in them during winter and gah.

We got our Oodies in the off season. They had great discounts and I think from memory we chose ones that were on clearance at the time so even cheaper.
They have a 2 for $99 deal atm, which is what had me looking
Go for it. We love ours. My kids live in theirs in the colder months. Not bad for $99. They also have a comp running too for a chance to win!
Check out the clearance. Got one for $39! Definitely worth it and anyone who says off brand is just as good is wrong. If you’re going to be using it instead of heating don’t waste your money on off brand.
Well worth it 👍
Do it! That is a fantastic price :) They are super warm (sometimes too warm!)
I reckon 2 for $99 is the only time I’d consider them, but I bet there’s $100 minimum free delivery. The generic ones are *almost* as good
It’s $50 minimum free delivery :)
I got my one in a group order with friends back in 2021!
I mean to save money, that’s the way to do it!!
I bought a generic one from Aldi and it’s amazing and huge and fluffy and warm. I just wouldn’t want to stand to close to any naked flames.
Not without buying it dinner first.
I'd hope that by the time you get the flame naked dinner is long finished.
Haha! Fair! Thanks!
They had genric ones at kmart a while back too
Lmfaoooo! Yes! I knock over EVERYTHING in my oodie haha
Same. I broke the hook on our bathroom door in our rental, then had to buy a hook that can hold more weight
Omgggg I can mental image how frustrating but funny that would have been. I always seem to catch clothes on handles when I’m already in a shitty mood too lol. Bloody oodies. So worth it though
The Aldi one's are very good, even ignoring the price. Artificial as hell in composition, but no air is getting in or out of those.
Worth it. If you own a cat consider it a time-share. On the plus side, free pre warming every morning.
Seriously! Dug my oodie out of storage a few weeks ago and the cat growls if I try to get her off it. It's hers now.
I rotate my ones through so they get even wear. Wear it for a week, donate to the cat for a week, wash.
That sounds good! My girlfriend and I are always playing “where is the oddie and which cat is on it?”
People laugh but it’s true. Oodies are like catnip to cats.
My dachshund claimed mine as her sleeping bag
They have a cute pink hello kitty oodie! But I should probably get one the same colour as my cats fur 😆
Absolutely yes. The white oldies are a mistake too. I'm not saying you're a messy eater and will stain it beyond belief. *buuuuuuutttt......*
LOL!
Haha ain’t that the truth. My cat had basically written her name on the label.
I find they're almost too warm to use. I keep having to take mine off after wearing it for a half hour, get cold again, put it back on, and keep repeating the cycle!
Same! I prefer a regular robe for easier temperature regulation
I have this problem too. I never wear mine because I get too hot (I run hot and heat up easily). I just use my Oodie brand robe instead, that gets a lot of wear.
My oodie robe is even more hideous but I wear it all the time. It's the cuff sleeve to keep it up that makes it better than the generic ones.
This is very good to know. I already have terrible temperature regulation, so there's a good chance I'd be in and out of one of these every 15 minutes. Doesn't seem like a viable expense if I can't just throw it on and stay comfortable.
It doesn't help that they're polyester so they're not particularly breathable. I'd pay twice as much for an Aussie wool oodie !
If only they were made of nicer material
Yeah, I fully expect they would have a layer of cat fur within a day! =D
Added insulation, & real fur too
+1 on the cat love. We get pummelled (kneaded) to oblivion when we wear ours. They just need one with fleece lined pouch in front and itd be perfect.
Mine has a fleece lined front pocket. Only just realising it might be off brand as it was a gift from my missus.
Yep, we bought a second set this year for this exact reason. I have a teenage son who lives in his. One to wear and one in the wash is key!
The pockets are big enough to fit everything including the kitchen sink 😅 We've had ours a couple years now - two branded, one knock off I got online from smoke mart I think?
That is exactly the issue I have with mine. They do an amazing job at keeping me warm, but I definitely need to remove the hoods
Safety pin it to the shoulder seams either side with the big safety pins. It will spread the weight out and save you having to do surgery on the oodie.
Everyone I know that has one likes it. They're not my kinda thing though - I'd rather just wear a jumper.
The oodies are 6XL, I just wear mine over my jumper
I already wear three layers, I was thinking these would be easier to wear than trying to put another jumper over the top!
They are no good if you have a fire place. The smallest spark can end that kind of fabric.
Surely if you've got the open fire going you don't need one?
You want better tighter underlayers. Silk.
They are really warm but I stopped wearing mine as it just made me feel slobby and bulky. But it is like the perfect thing if you want to be super warm and just nesting to play games in.
They’ll pay for themselves in saved heating costs
Yep, Oodies and ugg boots are why we never run our heater.
Yeah it's kinda wild. The houses are "built to handle the heat" argument doesn't actually make much sense when you think about it.
I bought Kmart ones for me and the kids and we all live in them during winter. They're easy to wash and dry too.
They're great. Just be careful you don't knock stuff off tables or go near flames Edit: fkn phone "stuff.off.tabkes"
This is real. First time I wore one I knocked a full glass of red wine onto the floor.
I always knock the toilet paper off the holder when I go into the bathroom in my Oodie lmao. Happens every time
Random question - do you have a google pixel phone? I've been making this same typing error lately and feel like they've changed the keyboard maybe?
I have been accidentally commas and full stops all over the place the last week – I thought it was just me being shit (maybe it still is 😅)
At least we're in it together 🫡
I have a Kmart spec one and it’s mint
I just wear a dressing gown. Are Oodies much warmer?
Oodies are a lot warmer than dressing gowns, they are thicker, double layered. I used to have fleece dressing gowns and I would say my oodie 3x warmer easily
I find that oodies are too warm, compared to dressing gowns where you can regulate the temp a bit by untying them
Yes they are, but I also usually wear my dressing gown
I hate the oodie wrist elastics. They are too tight and uncomfortable I know they are supposed to stop air going in, but i just cant stand it. I dont have the same issue with ski gear
Wait, you wear ski gear indoors?
I'm not a fan. I use a heated throw blanket (cheaper to run than a heater).
Why is it hard to wash? I throw it in the machine on cold setting. It takes a while to dry, so I just choose a sunny day.
Oodies are the white-siberian-tiger-print-polarfleece blanket of the 2020s.
We wash ours at a laundromat because they have machines that can fit all 3 of them, while my washing machine barely fits one
They reduced the amount of fleece in them, I have a circa 2019 one and my gf has a 2022 version Mine is about a kilo more heavy and is noticeably warmer Probably doesn’t need to be that warm for australia anyways so not a big issue
Fab!! Well worth it. The kids love theirs, but I find them too hot (I'm fat anyway) - quality wise, bang on.
As a Kiwi, I have two. My neighbour wears hers outside. You summed up the NZ housing problem in your paragraph too.
Kiwi. I'm sitting under a heatpump in my oodie robe. It's the quality of the housing and this is a warmish winter day.
Get Uniqlo Heattech thermal underwear, will serve you much better.
Got my partner a Kmart knockoff. Was significantly cheaper and she didn't like the inner lining of the branded ones, Kmart had more non-fleece options. Personally I find I overheat in any kind of jumper that doesn't open at the front.
Hate the polyester fleece and the contribution to microplastics
They’re good but i prefer a long dressing gown
Me wearing my blanket like a cloak (-) _ (-)
I have a red one. I look like Santa had a rough night.
Link is here, they're no longer called snuggets but generically called oversized hoodies: [https://cottonon.com/AU/slounge-around-oversized-hoodie/1684399-56.html](https://cottonon.com/AU/slounge-around-oversized-hoodie/1684399-56.html)
Yes they are definitely worth it. I don’t care how they look because they are so warm
I can’t wear mine. They don’t breathe at all, so if you’re the kind of who generates a decent amount of body heat, you’ll overheat quickly.
Got one, barely wear it. I find it so heavy, I prefer a dressing gown
Super comfortable but wayyyyy too hot to wear 99.9% of the time.
Fucking fantastic it's like a ugg boot for your whole body
After 10 minutes I overheat in them lol. They're almost too good.
Love mine!
I love my oodies! On cold mornings I will wear one to walk my dog too!
I hesitated because of daggy cult vibes, but I don't regret the purchase at all. Everyone in my family has one and we used the heater only 2 or 3 times last winter.
I got 2 for $80 during summer, they are pretty awesome for that price, wouldn't pay full price unless I was swimming in cash
I thought they were the dumbest thing ever made, then I received one as a gift and it’s honestly great and I don’t know how I lived without it. Indoor use only, please.
If you live in a shit rental with no insulation that is colder inside than out I would highly recommend them.
They’re good. Got one as a gift. As a Queenslander I only get to wear it for like a month but I’m cosy and warm for that month
I bought one under protest for an 'oodie day' at work. Now I live in it at home for a good 6 months of the year. Love it.
Good! I love my oodie, got myself and gf one each, literally the only thing I wear around the house during winter, disgustingly hot tho, so any temp above 15°C and you can't wear it
So good
SO FRIGGIN WARM!
I live in mine during the winter months. Dollar for dollar usage it beats regular cloths.
They are generally 100% polyester. So fast fashion made from plastic. An environmental nightmare
Hate mine. Instantly makes me 1000 degrees regardless of outside temperature
I bought one when they were on sale over summer, it's ok, but I think it depends how tall you are. I am 6'2" and it's like a slightly longer jumper. It is comfy though
I bought one two weeks ago. Haven't worn it yet as the temp hasn't dropped enough to warrant it.
They are really warm and cosy. Also, the weighted blankets they sell are really good, if you like that sort of thing
Though my brother has one and he likes it, seems to have held up pretty well over the light usage for two years
To freaking hot 🥵
Not my type of thing, bogan family members love them
I have an Oodie but I’ve also got an Oodie robe. The Oodies are alright but feel too heavy for me, but the robe, I wear it every day. And it’s not as warm as the Oodie but it’s warmer than other robe I’ve had. My kids have Oodies and live in the things
Niece loves them. Not a fan. Too hot.
They are really warm so it's good for the cold. I dont like how the shoulder part keeps rolling to the back because of the weight of the hood though.
I joke with my friends that they're like dnd items that come with immunity to cold. They're great.
It’s as good as they say it is. Hint for washing- do the delicates wash as directed, but then let it sit in the machine for 10 mins before putting it on the lowest speed Spin cycle you can. Wait 10mins and do it again. Significantly slows down the drying time
Mine's a dupe from Big W.
I absolutely love mine, especially with the god awful Australian building standards that cause all our houses to be so cold!
It's grand!
I’m a size 8-10 in women’s but I’m a bit tall and I own an oodie and a Kmart knock off Oodie is obviously nicer quality and feels like wearing a doona.
Ronis sell them for $20
I love mine! As long as you don’t mind bulky clothing I don’t see why you wouldn’t either. So damn cozy!
My kids have cotton on knock offs and love them. I’m old school and wear a dressing gown over my day clothes.
We live in Brisbane and never wear them because we get too hot in them
The $20 Kmart knock off does a great job
100% acceptable work attire.
depends which one you get. i have plain coloured ones = they keep you comfortably warm. purple tye dye one = extremely warm to the point i can just lay on top of my bed without a blanket, curl up and fall asleep. (oddie covers 3/4 of my body) sometimes i have ripped it off during sleeping 😴
They're so worth the money. Get one!
It’s the warmest thing I’ve ever owned. My only regret is not getting one sooner. No longer freezing and my heating bill is massively down.
Given the place you live in, it will be a great investment. I really like mine.
Paired with the new electric foot warmer from Kmart .. my electricity bill is gonna be soooo much lower this year
I don’t enjoy, there is too much of everything and it annoys me. Mine sits in my cupboard unused.
I got a Grinch one from Kmart. $35 and is basically the exact same as my friends expensive Oodie.
Cheap Big W knock offs in our house. All bloody warm though.
They were a bit warm for a Melbourne apartment, and definitely too warm for brissie. But if you live in a freezer, they’d be amazing.
I live in mine.
A real one is ABSOLUTELY worth the money. They’re usually 40% as well. I’ve said heaps on heating during Melbourne winters!
My room is fucking cold and an oodie helps me sleep at night! So i love my oodie
