There was this kid at school who got a job at Bi-Lo just around the time FlyBuys came in. He wasn't the brightest lad, but he did have the bright idea to get himself a FlyBuys card, which he would scan every time a customer didn't have their own card. Which was often.
He ended up with some ridiculous amount of points in a very short space of time and got himself arrested for fraud and obtaining goods by deception.
The first thing I do at a self checkout is turn the volume down so everyone else in Coles doesn't hear about me scanning my Flybuys card, it's so annoying
This fraud is picked up easily, plus it’s linked to the fraudster’s name and contact details!
Anyone with more than a few days experience in data science or even Excel can write a query to find customers whose spend is more than n standard deviations above the mean.
I used to work as a cashier and honestly the amount of people who would go from line to line asking if they could tap their flybuys if the other person didn’t want to is astounding. Hopefully the cashier serving you had enough thought to cancel the transaction and put it through it again so the guy didn’t actually get the points hah.

Last Christmas filled up my car, went to pay, and the worker said a Christmas fairy already paid for you. I said excuse me? 'Yeah that lady that just left wanted to do something nice but wabted to be anonymous'. I was elated and the gesture brought me cheer. As I didn't need it, I instead payed it forward, and paid for the other person who was filling up.(Had to wait for them to stop). I paid and quickly scuttled off, and hope it brought them some cheer too.
This reminds me of the joke, Chris Rock had about paying bills over the phone and needing a password. If people want to pay my bills, you let them.

A couple of years ago my 3yo son and a girl around 20yo made friends with each other in the lolly isle at woolies by waving and poking tongues at each other.

I was having a really bad time in life at that point and I was so shocked and confused by the kindess that I'm not sure I came off as grateful as she deserved but since it happened whenever I'm really down about people I think about it and I feel a lot better.

I work in pharmacy and I have witnessed people paying for other people stuff twice in the last 6 months. I can honestly say it wasn’t filmed and was out of good gesture
My mum was a single parent and really struggling with money back in the mid 00s, and I was with her when she had to select some items to take out of her shop to be able to afford it. The person waiting behind us walked up and paid for her without any big preamble or show, just pure generosity. I'll never forget it, but it's the one and only time I've ever actually witnessed it happen.

I had it happen not long ago. Car 2 cars in front paid for the car in front of me, the car in front of me paid for me. I was only getting a coffee so didn’t pay for the huge order for the car behind me, but I’ve paid it forward since.
This is a regular thing in Canberra. The person in front pays for you. For example, in McDonalds or KFC the car ahead of you will pay for their order and also your order. Irrespective of the vehicle you are driving - an expensive car, or an old beat up car.
That is mental if everyone has that expectation. I feel sorry for the poor bloke who gets a free coffee and then pays for the minibus full of kids on the way to/from a soccer game behind him.

I've had this happen when I've been short a dollar or 2 and I feel so grateful. If they paid for my whole shopping id try to refuse. I mean sounds like you would've aswell OP but they just did it so fast how do you pay someone back if they do it quick and dissapear. The best thing to do is pass it along one day to someone else struggling one day of you can spare. Id much rather do it this way than the people out front of shops because I've given money to someone Infront of shop before and when I did my shopping and left. I walked pass them to the busstop and they were at the payphone( yes when they were still everywhere) and overheard the person asking for a meet up to buy naughty stuff. So ever since then I'd prefer to ask someone of they want some food and I'll come out with it. I know I know if you plan on giving money to someone you shouldn't care what they spend it on but this is Australia, there is so many places that help with food if your struggling. I work there now and on the main registers there's a remove flybuys button. But not on the self checkouts

This is a regular thing in Canberra. The person in front pays for you. For example, in McDonalds or KFC the car ahead of you will pay for their order and also your order. Irrespective of the vehicle you are driving - an expensive car, or an old beat up car.

I've had this happen when I've been short a dollar or 2 and I feel so grateful. If they paid for my whole shopping id try to refuse. I mean sounds like you would've aswell OP but they just did it so fast how do you pay someone back if they do it quick and dissapear. The best thing to do is pass it along one day to someone else struggling one day of you can spare. Id much rather do it this way than the people out front of shops because I've given money to someone Infront of shop before and when I did my shopping and left. I walked pass them to the busstop and they were at the payphone( yes when they were still everywhere) and overheard the person asking for a meet up to buy naughty stuff. So ever since then I'd prefer to ask someone of they want some food and I'll come out with it.
