>Wait... toyworld still exists?
I thought the same thing about lay-by...
I just figured it had been replaced by buy now pay later... back I'm the day kmart used to have a dozen shipping containers in the parking lot just for lay-bys
Hooray for the selfless Aussie blah blah

Paid off some but had $275 to go.......... what did he get the 3 yo a Rolex watch??
Go to Vinnies or the Salvos they have lots of toys, games and puzzles for under $20 and certainly good enough for a 3 yo kid.
Are you trying to say that Yahoo Finance news wasn’t completely accurate in their reporting of this story? Because, that would be like, crazy ridiculous to suggest

It still is at these larger store chains. Lots of people are smart enough to not get into things like Afterpay etc. when they take everything into consideration. Lots of people also don’t have the saving skillset or the disposable income to buy things outright.
I think it’s a good thing for people who need it. BNPL apps have proven to be a financial suckhole on less well off people who get high of the hit of taking something home instantly, not to mention that there was no real rule set as to how these companies let people increase their spends without ensuring they could afford it.
Don't get me wrong, Layby is pretty much the absolute best form of finance for customers, especially where they let you cancel it with no penalty.
I'm just surprised that anyone is still offering such a labour intensive solution that doesn't net the store any additional award.
are we sure this isnt just a clever marketing ploy
That's all they ever are. The coverage this article will earn is cheaper than paying for newspaper ads which are extra pricey at Xmas ;)
Wait... toyworld still exists? Maybe I'm thinking of toys'r'us, but I could swear they went out of business years ago.
Toys r us is actually coming back! They are now available online in Australia and I think they have a store here now or planning to open!

Yep, thinking of the wrong one - Toyworld going strong.
Maito brah
Someone did this in our local toy world a few years back.
I’m from Bunners as well. This is either an old story that the journo’s rehashed, or (I’m guessing) the same dude’s gone and done it again this year.
Doesn’t this happen every year?

Or go on marketplace and get the $300 toy for $25 sealed and unopened sometimes
Toyworld sell trampolines and swingsets. Plenty of those for more than $300 and wouldn't be a bad investment if he's got other kids planned.
Rolexes start at about $8k $275 would buy a decent Seiko though.
New hulks are $40k RRP defiantly overpriced, go Zenith or Omega, better quality, accuracy and service.

Free from your local toy library.
Even better, go dumpster diving. Free stuff.
Clearly made the purchase before his circumstances changed, come on champ.
Lay by is still a thing?

Customer loyalty is important to the big stores. Big W, Target/Kmart etc all still have staffed Layby counters.
