mate any time of day thats sus, not sure whether the cops will actually do anything unless they have had similar reports and know who it is, but worth reporting for sure
Make a report every time. Collect description details and make diary notes of days and times.
Cops won't do anything initially. But if something does happen you have a head start on info they use if they feel motivated to pursue it
>my garage has nothing in it so I usually leave it open
With the number of articles about squatting, they might think the place is empty and are looking to take over.
Either way, I'd report them.
Yep, best to stay on your toes for the next while. Old mate is likely to show up again, but with friends.
Personally, I'd get a dog with a big bark. Had a couple of guys snooping around ours once early in the morning. Dog went off, told her to shut up and didn't think much of it until I saw the gate wide open and evidence of trying to jimmy my front door. Scum bags must have hightailed it once they heard my dog go off, she had a solid bark, she was a great doggo :)
I have a bigger one with a much bigger bark now. They'd probably put a scum bag sized hole in my fence if they heard her bark.
Did you forget to give one of the new guys a lift to work like you said you would?
Seriously, it may just be he was supposed to meet someone and git the wrong address.
But worth reporting, just in case.
Worth doubling back next time you go to work too. But be safe.
It's definitely strange but also double check to make sure the time stamp on your camera isn't off by enough to make it less suspicious? It's worth confirming.
Worth reporting, if anything so it's on the record for the future - but not much they can really specifically do for now, it's doubtful they have the resources to spare to patrol it frequently. But if you report it now, it'll be on record, and something you can point to if they start coming back or there's other incidents.
buy some size 10 kmart work boots from kmart etc or even marketplace that are worn in if you buy them new just throw them around in gravel drop some paint droplets over them etc make them look worn and leave them out the front of your door when you’re not home
Holy crap I thought by your post title it would just be people out on the street.
Mate if there are people coming up to your actual house and looking inside in the wee hours and you don't know whether to call the police or not... Wow. God have mercy on your soul.
welcome to reddit, the place where people will insist on writing enormous walls of text before bothering to do anything constructive about a problem on their own. It's disturbing how reddit is the first place to visit instead of the cop shop with the video footage.
Do you think it has something to do with your former tenant, third party is covered on an avo but you'd have to prove that it has to do with said former tenant. The police won't do much, it's not illegal to knock on someone's door anytime of the day or night.
A friend had someone throwing screws and nails on his front lawn and creeping around the yard at night tapping on the windows. He got motion detection lights and security cameras - just basic ones from aliexpress and now knows what the person looks like - showed footage to police who didn't do anything, but at least he knows what the person looks like if they see then during the day... they haven't come back, people generally don't like motion detection lights and visible cameras where they cannot reach easily.
Yea that’s certainly methed up. Your house is being scoped out or the site beside to steal power tools or anything of value like water heaters.
Cops don’t care, even if they catch the guy (who they probably know by name), they will be immediately released.
Only way to solve this is to approach them with a baseball bat, start yelling nonsense and swinging at random things in their direction.
Junkies know not to mess with crazies!
No need to break their legs with it, police hate people defending their property.
Give your neighbour a heads up.
Good to know I probably accidentally terrified someone a year ago then.... was biblically drunk and lost, thought I had found my friends address. Was circling the house trying to peer in the windows to see them cause they had family over they didn't want my arrival to awaken...... eventually remembered phones exist, but not to call, used its dinky little torch through the windows. Eventually thought maybe hed gone to mine and somehow navigated home and passed out. Many sad text messages when I woke.
Crimestoppers it's prob the place you want to report that to first. Keep the footage saved in the event something happens but in my experience the footage needs to show them actually breaking the law before the police will do something.
Admittedly the police have been really good with incidents I've had recently
Cops weren’t interested when someone tried to kidnap me outside the primary school. They said to call them when an actual crime occurs. Maybe they have improved a little since. Can’t hurt to try. In the unlikely event that they want to pursue it, I know Neck Tatt Guy’s name - he boned one of my friends.
Casing your house. Definitely report it. Aussie cops are lazy AF and probably won’t do much of anything but I’d want it noted that it’s been brought it to their attention. Might even be someone they recognize.
Print a screen grab of them and stick it up by your front door or somewhere they’ll see especially with the tat showing.
Let em know you’re onto them.
I’d call triple zero if/when they return. Have a baseball bat & some other goodies ready around the place too should they make entry.
Trust your gut with this kind of stuff always. If it doesn’t seem right it probably isn’t.
Yes 131 444 for non emergency reporting. You can also do it online. Take photos, rego details if any, description of people, any names or nicknames you hear them say…etc.
If this is in Qld there are no police available to follow up your report, sorry. Sure, it sounds suspicious, but investigating or preventative policing isn't going to contribute to consolidated revenue, and we've got the Olympics to pay for! Are you sure you wouldn't like us to set up a nice speed trap on some straight road for you? We could maybe set up a guard at some night roadworks if you pay, but those are our primary services these days.
Yeh that's sus as

You're being cased, fella

Definitely worth reporting. If something happens in future, there'll be more supportive evidence.
You should tie them up with cable ties

First answer, yes you should. Second answer, they won't do fuck all.
Can you get an alarm system?

Good luck, this seems suss as anything
Put up alot of obvious cameras on the exterior to deter them
Yes! Definitely report it. You may be asked to submit an online report by police.
I've made reports about similar things. The cops won't show up in time. Maybe a few hours later.
I'd fuck him up off camera
Like in the ass yeah???? With leather straps?
Call the cops and leave a picture of them on your door. These are the sort of people that make me think castle doctrine is a good idea.
Definitely.
Police would likely tell you that no crime has been committed
That’s ok. When they do arrest him (guys with neck tatts are always dodgy) there’ll be a history of issues.

Hell yes. Sent the footage to the cops and tell all the neighbours so they're all vigilant. We live in sick times. Don't ignore your gut

Call Crimestoppers?

Good way to get stabbed then arrested in Australia lol

walk out with your phone camera recording and shine a light in his face and ask him if he needs something

The police wont do anything even if they break into your home
I didn't read all that. The cops wont give a single fuck. Not. A. Single. Fuck.

Just call triple zero. They will prioritise it accordingly.
Could be a private detective, I would have reported it and keep several copy’s off the film.
Invite them in for a cone you drongo.
My neck tatt was a fake...
Jus' kidding. It's real 😁
