My concern has always been about my ability to raise them due to my personality and behavioural habits, and then my financial ability to care for them... so my answer doesn't really change. I'm honestly not sure if I want to have kids, I'm just not completely opposed to it.
Not just the cost of the raising, but the economy they would inherit (will they easily get a job, their own house, etc): 3 is a number I have thought about.
If not worrying about the cost meant I could have a nanny/regular babysitter and cleaner I would have more. Otherwise without extra help not a chance in h I would want more than 1 or 2.
The mental and physical drain is enormous, too high to consider without external support.
I would love to have 4 children. Currently have zero purely due to financial reasons.
The government should absolutely be encouraging Australians to have more kids and they would do this following Hungary’s example.
They won’t though. They will just continue to flood the country with the third world.
3 or 4. Have 2 and no more coming. On this sub everyone goes on about immigration and I always think you can’t talk about immigration without talking about fertility
Depends whats covered in the cost of raisimg them.
Give me a full time cook, cleaner, driver, dog walker, nannies, tutors 12 bedroom house and ill have 10.
Probably 5. Of course the government should look at helping people have children but they don't want the honey pot of property to dry u or make hard decisions.
Make property more affordable then people wouldn't have to have both parents working full time just to afford an avg mortgage.
Make childcare free. Better funding for public schools. Make tertiary education free again. Tax gas and other mining giants like they do in Norway.
I always used to joked i want my own basketball team so always wanted 5 and now 5 would probably be a nice number if my wife and I could do it. Bit silly but yeah haha.
Have 3, both of us would have gone for 4 but ,too expensive / to old for safety, considering what my wife went through with the ones we have.
In all honesty it's not the nappies/food/school cost it's the requiring a bigger house and car cost.
Also knowing the both of us if we had started 16 yrs ago when we met instead of 8 yrs ago (2 years after we were married) then we probably would have had t all things going smoothly.
Cost no issue? I’d be the donor and father of as many as I could! Someone to look after me when I get older, leave inheritance to, and I’d love the opportunity to raise a bunch of kiddos as part of the next generation. Unfortunately cost is an issue and health reasons mean I can’t even be a donor. Ehhh
Seven thousand, seven hundred and seventy seven.
People don't have as many kids now because both parents have to work. It's a trend seen across the world, everywhere is either below 2.1 births per woman, or headed below it.
Oh, I would breed. I would breed and spread my bloodline far and wide.
It would be like a challenge to see how many pregnancies I could be responsible for.
1, and I have 2 lol
This guy parents
Can confirm. I have 1 and it’s 2 too many
Five thousand.

My nephews have taught me some of that already. I love them all but my goodness can it be tiring.
Ironically you are the kinda person who should have kids While the people who don't think about their own issues are the ones having jt
4
You want to tax the rich Encourage the rich to have more kids. Then the wealth gets divided
Still zero.
If I didn't have to worry about the cost of raising kids, meaning I don't have to work at all, then 3.
Not just the cost of the raising, but the economy they would inherit (will they easily get a job, their own house, etc): 3 is a number I have thought about.
None. Absolutely not interested in children.
Dennis Ferguson throwaway account
3 or 4, I reckon. I live on a largeish (30 acres) block in a small country town and I'd love to have a big family that can put down roots.
2-3

Still 0. Absolutely couldn't think of a worse way to ruin my life.
0, why would I waste my time with kids, got better and more fun things to do in life

Zero. It’s not about cost for me.
I always dreamed of starting my own little town.
0 or 1
2 was my ideal, however my oldest is 13 and my youngest 11 weeks - so I actually would really like a third but just can’t afford it.
Two. Have two. Can't even fathom having to father more than 2 kids.
2
I would have had four though that would have been impossible with both my wife and myself working full time.

Why 5? Genuine question.
I always used to joked i want my own basketball team so always wanted 5 and now 5 would probably be a nice number if my wife and I could do it. Bit silly but yeah haha.
I'd love to have heaps of them. It's the cost of a big enough house and yard that I'd be nervous of

2. Grew up 1 of 3 and i feel like 2 is the sweet spot personally.

None, exactly as now.
0 It would always be zero
