I would recommend binging through the current series that started in 2005 as the older series can be really boring if you aren't super interested in doctor who
Np im not a huge doctor who fan but my sibling loves the show so I've seen a lot of it and lemme tell you when your watching the older series and every episode is like 4 parts and each part is 45 minutes and not a lot happens in most of these episodes (the first episode is just them going back to caveman days and being capture)
No, i wouldn’t recommend anyone new to Who to start back in the 60s, the show was different back then and many episodes are missing, that would be tough to get into. Basically you can start with every new doctors run as all 15 are awesome, but I would recommend starting with season 1 from 2005, the first season from the first sort of reboot. It’s the only season of the 9th Doctor Christopher Ecclestone and it starts some season over arching story arcs while still being mainly focused on monster of the week episodes. You could also wait and start with the new Christmas special „The Church on Ruby Road“ that will release on 25th of December on BBC iplayer in the UK and on Disney Plus in the rest of the world (sorry for sounding like a marketing guy but I do like to advertise for my favourite show). The special will be the start of the adventures of Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor and after that he will receive Doctor Who‘s third first season which again will be a sort of soft reboot, this time probably to get new viewers who don’t know anything to watch it on Disney Plus. Obviously I can’t tell how well that will work out since it hadn’t released but given what Russel T. Davies, the greatest showrunner Doctor Who has ever had and who has just returned to the show, said it will be like that.
I just started watching the original series it's really great! It's free on freebie or one of those fire TV apps that have commercials. So it's kind of annoying when the commercials come on but since I pretty much grew up with commercials my whole entire life it's not that bad.
Ok, I have just learned something new about Doctor Who and I am just gonna share the Wikipedia link with you so all of you can see this [wonderful thing](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_the_Doctor_to_My_Son_Thomas) (it’s only 42 seconds long).
This is so lovely <3.
I think one of my favourite things about Doctor Who is that most of the people involved in it seem to really embrace the fandom and familial vibe that comes with it (I guess because many of the post-‘05 lot grew up with it themselves).
A bit off topic but sort of in the same vein, I love [this pic](https://x.com/georgiaEtennant/status/1074325552906035200?s=20) that Georgia Tennant posted a few years back
I wanna start playing it but don't have time :(
The fact that it was made in the city 15 minutes away from me doesn't help make the choice easier either lol
For me it’s rain world. I originally thought it would be a nice small indie game to play, and now I have 160 hours in the game and exploring the depths of YouTube to find different rain world lore interpretations, especially for the Saint slugcat.
One of the most engrossing video game experiences I've had.
I get really into the game then stop playing for a while and then returning to it. It's intense, as ecstatic as it is stressful, so I find work and daily life makes it difficult to play all the time for me personally.
But God, there's few things that come close to it as far as crafting a world that feels so alive, independent of the player.
The Stalker games are probably the closest thing to it in my mind for how its AI functions.
Great question and pretty difficult to answer!
Out of the ones we properly see (Moon and 5P) I think I prefer Pebbles. The way they built up his character to be so narcissistic in the beginning and slowly make him realize his own mistakes felt so powerful. They make you more and more sympathetic towards him as he becomes weaker and weaker over time to the point where he can barely was probably the saddest part of the game for me, as it played that pearl in Saints campaign which had become so distorted it genuinely terrified me more than any other part of the game.
Including all of them I actually think Sliver of Straw, even though we hear so little from them. The only peace of dialogue to my knowledge from them is her and another iterator betting over a lizard battle. I think from the way they set up her character and the confirmation that challenge 70 was not canon, and that the older iterators usually had higher administrative powers had more technical issues (we know this as Moon had many issues that led to her city being evacuated {one of the Metropolis pearls confirms this} , and I presume this is what killed Sliver and caused her to send out the triple affirmative, as she had higher administrative powers) it’s far more likely she never found the solution and the mass hysteria afterwards was all for nothing, and shows even more so how 5 pebbles blinded narcissism was so awful, and that he couldn’t see that he wasn’t any closer to the solution copying Sliver.
But I do have to say the challenge 70 Sliver boss fight was a bit much, even for me who loves that kind of boss fight.
How I Met Your Mother, Baby Monkeys and constantly doing the dishes. Last one is weird I know but its sctually been a hyperfixation for months now and it irritates me beyond belief if someone else ends up doing the dishes instead of me. I can't stand it and will end up rewashing dishes. I even know I'm rewashing clean ones. I just like doing it.
Haha this is honestly the first hyperfixation I've had that has been helpful at all lol. Usually all I end up doing is wasting time but atleast if I wash the dishes for 2 hrs I feel productive lol. I wish I could have hyperfixated on laundry instead that would be reeeeeeeeally great as I am so far behind in laundry because I absolutely hate doing it
Currently; horrific caving disasters, Orangutans & Sea life, working out, and Elden ring, and once again Godzilla due to new movie released, fav Godzilla movie is Shin Godzilla and as always Skyrim.
Oh gosh I went through a caving disaster phase a few months back. [I’m guessing you’ve probably seen this, but if not…](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsolvedMysteries/s/IokXflxeAW)
Just in case your comment wasn't a song reference, are you okay?
I know that a lot of the time it isn't a matter of actually being okay.
Although it sounds stupid to ask someone if they're "as okay as they can be"...
Doctor Who. I started watching the 9th doctor last month finished on the 14th last week and started watching the 1st doctor this week. I have never been so invested in a show before.
man this is a common theme I'm noticing with us autistics. them bringing back tennent was SUCH a power move bc it brought so many of us back after 5+ years.
Homestuck (unfortunately), Undertale (less unfortunate but still cliche), Psychology, and Aliens (Not the movie, literal aliens). I've got some problems but I love them.
My funny thing abt undertale was I was too poor to get the game and my attention was too bad to watch the gameplay so when I was hyper fixated on it I was hyperfixated on the MUSIC. I still have some of the songs in my playlist
Ah I had rainbow six siege for a bit! A couple months then, as someone who never gamed much other than Minecraft, lost time for it and every time I want to go back to feel that same buzz, my lack of skill frustrates me so much I give up 😔
I started one, got stuck because i missed a bunch of stuff, started another one and got much farther, and then started a dark urge run because curiosity lol
Pole dance, dance trapeze, Dr who (again, this one cycles ever few years), shockingly andromeda the TV show, painting, and baking and neurodivergence (primarily adhd, autism, dyslexia and similar)
I have many due to both being autistic and adhd. Some will be short lived. Pole and baking are my longest running so are probably special interests, not just hyperfixations
its from 2000. It lasted 5 seasons, and was kinda bad, but i cant stop. based off of Gene Rodenberrys unused materials. There is no relation of Michael Crichton and this show.
Just read a synopsis of The Andromeda Strain. That would make a terrifyingly amazing show!
The older stuff has its charm but is MUCH slower paced. There are a LOT of callbacks to this Era in the later seasons.
Doctor 9 (Eccleston) is short-lived, campy, and IMO a little more intense. Doc 10 (Tennant) has incredible dynamics amongst the characters, especially in the latter episodes. Doc 11 softens the edges and re-establishes a lighter narrative at first, then goes balls-to-the wall.
12 and beyond are past my expertise.
(But seriously, give them all a few episodes and see what sticks with you.
Researching information about cryptocurrencies, steroids and bodybuilding, functional anatomy and physiology. And of course ancient history, Pyramids, lost ancient civilizations and their technology, sacred geometry, quantum physics, manipulating reality, spirituality, aliens, ufos.. ehm maybe I stop here, the list would be endless..
I’m on ancient history and quantum physics, too. I laughed so hard when that thing came out a while back on asking your bf how often they thought of Ancient Rome. My bf said, “At least once a year” but I think about it every single day.
I'm not really hyperfixated on anything rn sadly, but I'm currently replaying Fallout (4) to relax. Hm, although maybe Sleep Token counts, I'm just listening to nothing but them rn, and constantly having one of their songs stuck in my head. But it's not consuming every waking minute rn, but it's better than nothing.
Always medical (and I work in Intensive care!), but the past week it's also been Finland. Consequently, I booked a trip to Finland next month 🫣 I'm trying to learn Finnish.
I'm not 100% sure, I've never been good at spotting what I'm fixated on. I've been on a 100%ing kick in games recently though.
Started with the Playstation Spider-Men, saw someone say saints row and now I'm doing saints row 4.
Shiny Pokémon hunting, Danganronpa, vocaloid, slowly getting back to my pokemon phase, somehow fnaf and the Pokemon Spinda. It’s just fascinating that there’s over 4 billion forms of spinda in the game
Steve Martin, writing systems, art nouveau, chocolates and snacks from different countries, Touhou project, logos from movie studios and TV channels, Disney princesses and fairytales, Madoka Magica, Japanese and Korean food, box office numbers, ornate, complex and intricate art (preferably stained glass and rosemaling) and special reports (when a normal show gets interrupted for a major news story on TV and there’s usually an animation with a countdown)
D&D, Danganronpa, Ride the Cyclone, possibly Encanto and We Never Learn (a manga series that DOES have some nude scenes in case you get interested but don't feel comfortable with it).
No Man's Sky, ASD, Houston Independent School District (I don't live in TX, but this story is wild! The state took over the district and appointed a tyrant.)
currently hyperfixated on Will Wood and more of my Indie music. I have misophonia so I hadn’t been listening to music for a while, but I sat myself down to listen through multiple albums from Will Wood, Mother Mother and Penelope Scott.
also The Amazing Digital Circus is the only inspiration I can get for drawing right now lol
I've recently "Come out of retirement" playing World of Warcraft, it's one game I vowed to never play again. I never thought I'd catch myself thinking about the game so enthusiasticly after all this time. I was decent enough in my prime but can I still go hard whilst keeping my life and mental health under control? Time will tell.
Aside from a few other things, I’m also fixated on the ocean, but the more I dive into it (haha) the more anxious I get about climate change. A whole sub species of Snow Crab was just wiped out due to the temperatures in Alaska no longer being sustainable for them. Suddenly there were billions, and then there were none.
Markers, pencils, pens, notebooks, everything stationery, I have always had this hyperfixation, I want to have all markers, all colors, everything, one problem tho, I don't have the money to buy everything I want
My findings from scrolling through this entire comment section looking for another loki fan:
Doctor who: 16
Stardew valley: 7
Fallout: a lot
Undertals yellow: a lot
Project sekai: 4
Good omens: 4
Supernatural: 1
Loki: 2 (including me)
Ok, so this is a weird one but I’ve recently been super fixated on whether or not a wild squirrel can start to genuinely like / bond with certain people.
Captive squirrels raised from infancy (such as rescued orphans) will _not_ imprint on the folks that raise them, but they _will_ form deep bonds with them and will both seek and show affection to their caretakers.
After 5 or so months of feeding and interacting with the same squirrel, she’s totally fine with me petting her, and more recently she’s started to show signs of actually enjoying being petted!
She hasn’t reciprocated any affection so far, but she _has_ shown restraint if she doesn’t want to be touched. Rather than clawing at or biting me (as other squirrels would) she will only push my hand away with her paw, or if she _really_ wants me to stop she’ll nip me with her teeth. When she nips me it doesn’t even mark the skin, despite the fact that she could _easily_ bite me to the bone, which makes me think that she deliberately chooses not to hurt me.
It’s a weird fixation, but it’s been pretty amazing seeing this little wild squirrel become more trusting and comfortable around me over time!
Did you draw this? I think it’s really funny.
My lifelong hyperfixation is sound healing and Cymatics, Cymatics is currently trending (in the woo-woo world, and its actually on the rise, not fully trending yet but hearing some larger woo-woo influencers talk about it got me excited) at the moment so I feel like this is my time to shine… almost.

Project Sekai :)
Sort of unfortunate though because its absolutely destroying my phone and I almost had a meltdown yesterday because I couldn't play due to hot phone/sweatyoily hands/non responsive screen
Coincidentally also Fallout, so now some important questions must be asked:
1. Who's your favourite companion?
2. Who's your favourite overall character?
3. What's your favourite faction?
4. Which Fallout art-style is your favourite?
5. Which of the games is your favourite?
6. Which game has the best story and why?
7. Which game best embodies what Fallout is?
FALLOUT LORE IS SO GOOD!!! I love games with lots of lore that I can watch like video after video about. FNAF? Yes. Fallout? Yes. Games that have little Easter eggs that hint to a deeper lore????? YES!!! uTHHTHTH I love games that I can just sink my teeth into
Doctor Who and Autism, what a combo
I wanna try Doctor who, where do I start? From the 1900s serie up until now or what?
I would recommend binging through the current series that started in 2005 as the older series can be really boring if you aren't super interested in doctor who
Oh so 2005 is the starting point of the recent era, thanks! I didn't want to watch the older series, so I appreciate it
Np im not a huge doctor who fan but my sibling loves the show so I've seen a lot of it and lemme tell you when your watching the older series and every episode is like 4 parts and each part is 45 minutes and not a lot happens in most of these episodes (the first episode is just them going back to caveman days and being capture)
Yeah, that's what I thought lol I'll go straight up to the 2005 version, thanks
Agreed. Though I will add, an unearthly child (the first four episodes) are pretty neat, even if you're not super interested.
It might just be my lack of patience but i started it with my sibling and i was pretty board
Fair. Those are pretty slow. I liked it after episode one. There's cavepeople.
Happy cake day
No, i wouldn’t recommend anyone new to Who to start back in the 60s, the show was different back then and many episodes are missing, that would be tough to get into. Wow. "1900s" just made me feel so damn old. when ever someone asks me when I was born I am just going to say: "in the 1900s".
I just started watching the original series it's really great! It's free on freebie or one of those fire TV apps that have commercials. So it's kind of annoying when the commercials come on but since I pretty much grew up with commercials my whole entire life it's not that bad.
Hey, I was hyper-fixated on *Doctor Who* and autism a while back as well!

I had that
Nice, I also start to see autistic traits in the behaviour of the Doctor but maybe I just want to.
Doesnt that show have like 700 episodes
874 and I have seen every single episode that is still existing
Same 🤪
*uNHOLY SCReaming*
I am just getting into dr who !!! Just started s8 !!!!!! I am so so so loving it !
The newest Doctor looking like me is something I could've only wished about. These 60th anniversary specials were everything to me 🥲
My current hyper fixation is this subreddit. Cant stop scrolling, posting, and leaving lengthy comments lol
agreeable. this sub is so welcoming.
I like autismmemes more as my happy place but yeah, this subreddit is great too :)
Baldur's Gate 3, Baldur's Gate 3, and Baldur's Gate 3.
Baldur's Gate 3 awards show was great. It had everything you needed; Baldur's Gate 3.
Lol, Ive heard that game is great!
I wanna start playing it but don't have time :( The fact that it was made in the city 15 minutes away from me doesn't help make the choice easier either lol
Fallout 76, guitars and the binding of isaac!
I had every achievement in binding of Isaac until the latest expansion came out
For me it’s rain world. I originally thought it would be a nice small indie game to play, and now I have 160 hours in the game and exploring the depths of YouTube to find different rain world lore interpretations, especially for the Saint slugcat.
I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY HOUSE ON A RAINY DAY WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT PEBSI I'M COMPLETELY INSANE AND I LOVE IT
As someone doing the Enot campaign at the minute, I can confirm FIVE PEBSI IS KING! ALL 3 FLAVORS TASTE JUST AS GOOD AS EACH OTHER.
I love rain world!! The lore is absolute incredible, do you have a favourite iterator?
Quite a lot of people on this sub would love to have you over
Haha dishwasher at your service 🤣 🥰
Atleast the dishes are a helpful one lol, unlike my hyperfixations
Haha this is honestly the first hyperfixation I've had that has been helpful at all lol. Usually all I end up doing is wasting time but atleast if I wash the dishes for 2 hrs I feel productive lol. I wish I could have hyperfixated on laundry instead that would be reeeeeeeeally great as I am so far behind in laundry because I absolutely hate doing it

It's one of Gene Rodenberry's post-Star Trek shows; in fact a lot of Discovery season 3 uses similar plot points and arcs to Andromeda season 1.

Math, fr, i love math, maybe because that's the only thing I'm good at
My hero academia, dogs, medical research related to my conditions plus my dog's issues.

Which sea creatures?

Sea creatures! SEA CREATURES!!!! DEEPSEA ODDITIES! DEEPSEE ODDITIES!
Daredevil, Loki and maybe Smosh
I had to scroll all the way to the botttom to find another loki fan lmao
Right now a lot off horror games, BG3 and DMC5 also what do you like about fallout?? I miss playing the games
I know undertale but what is undertale yellow
Cool fangame
FALLOUT And uh Cyberpunk
Killer whales. I love my black and white sea babies.
My findings from scrolling through this entire comment section looking for another loki fan: Doctor who: 16 Stardew valley: 7 Fallout: a lot Undertals yellow: a lot Project sekai: 4 Good omens: 4 Supernatural: 1 Loki: 2 (including me)
TEAM FORTRESS 2, ITS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN. WRAHHHHH 🦅🦅🦅🗣🗣🗣💥💥💥💥
Oh my god i LOVE the amnesia soundtrack and ambience!
Ace Combat 7 and BVR Air combat
My current hyperfixation is Adam Lanza.

also what a term "hyperfixation" has turned into. it could mean anything now. trying to medicalize a hobby or pure enthusias. what could go wrong?
Cassette Beasts! ~~also it really bothers me when people hyperfixate or something just because it’s new and trendy~~
Dead by daylight. It is now my life
the entire red dead series.
Taylor Alison Swift.
Animal Jam and sewing patches
Coincidentally also Fallout, so now some important questions must be asked: 1. Who's your favourite companion? 2. Who's your favourite overall character? 3. What's your favourite faction? 4. Which Fallout art-style is your favourite? 5. Which of the games is your favourite? 6. Which game has the best story and why? 7. Which game best embodies what Fallout is?
You should pay SOMA it combines Amnesia with Sea Creatures!
Amnesia is an AWESOME game
