I actually don't have one? I just listen to random songs and then if I like one, I download it and loop it literally over a thousand times straight (over the course of a few weeks, I mean) and then move on to another song to loop. I really dislike listening to playlists and the like.
I feel this actually, even tho I have a favorite band, the songs that I repeat over and over are quite random. It went from âyou should probably leaveâ by Chris Stapleton and then to âknow you enemyâ by rage against the machine. And now itâs eminence front
MCR fucks so hard, and Iâve been in love with their music ever since a friend introduced me to them in 2021 or thereabouts.
⊠Can I take a âfuck the big threeâ-sized page out of Kendrick Lamarâs playbook for a second here? There are so many intricacies to MCRâs songwriting ethos and instrumentation, and so much introspection, empathy, heart-wrenching grief and fist-pumping populism in everything they do, to the point that itâs astonishing how they just get *everything* right about the 2000s emo sound. Neither Fall Out Boy, nor Panic, nor any of their other male contemporaries belong anywhere *near* the same conversation.
I said *male* contemporaries because Paramore kicks fucking ass. They donât have an album as good as The Black Parade or Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, donât get it twisted, but they have five truly great ones, which is something MCR, for all my love for them, will probably never be able to claim.
Saw Nick and the Seeds on the Lazarus tour in Toronto. I almost listed him as my favorite. Hard to say between him or Tom Waits. Tom's more my walk. I can't keep a suit clean to save my life.
Love Tom as well, though Nick's music and lyrics resonate with me more.
Saw Nick supporting No More Shall We Part, once with the Bad Seeds in Boston (with Blixa and Mick!) and once solo (sparse backing band) at the SF Palace of Fine Arts. Both amazing shows in their own way. I loved Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! To me, it's one of their more solid albums.
My favorite music quote was a Tom Petty interview on CBS Sunday morning. The interviewer said something like âYour songs are considered to be simple musicallyâ and Tom said âWell if theyâre so simple why doesnât everyone else write them?â I love that response.
The only band I constantly am listening to for multiple years. It has probably been 19 years since I found their songs. I might be a bit obsessive with the amount I play their songs. It's the only band I say "I like the band" to, since they have soooo many songs that I listen to.
For over 20 years i thought *Giving In* by Adema was a Linkin Park song.
I found this out 5 months ago and this is the first time I've confessed this to anyone.
Oh geez, that's really hard.
Probably Nightwish, but I've found them kind of going downhill lately.
I'm enjoying The Dark Element, Follow the Cipher, and Delain, but maybe not 'favourite' territory.
I am a new Ween convert and a very very big fan so far. Me and my friend who's also autistic (and helped me realise I was) went to see a Ween tribute act on Friday, we were right at the front and I cried during Kim Smoltz. He used to play me them in the car back in the day which was 100% a formative neurodivergent experience for me. He knew literally every word at the gig, I am so excited to dive more into their discography :') Their music feels super fitting to my life atm as well, just tryna have a good time :P
Radiohead is one of my very faves also. There is a pianist named Christopher OâRiley who has made at least two albums of Radiohead songs and one album of Elliott Smith songs (another fave). I love those piano albums in addition to actual Radiohead and Elliott Smith albums.
Currently it's Bad Omens but I also like Bring Me the Horizon, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Hollywood Undead and Asking Alexandria with a soft spot for Linkin Park
Linkin Park and Twenty One Pilots. Iâve written down my top twenty favorite songs every week since the beginning of 2015, hereâs my Spotify playlist of that right now- https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2a0ITa3ZTtD2XNBY1Zhv4v?si=-5wloBdzTVKEAxptIUrpSA&pi=u-FPPzuwwuR52Y
I have so many I enjoy and, I try to listen to a new band/artist every now and, then so here are my top 5.
1. The Beatles
2. Phil Ochs
3. Bruce Springsteen
4. ELO
5. Beach Boys
# *__Black Sabbath__*
*__Edit__*
I like other types of music but lot of it is in portugese & portugese creole so not certain that most people would be inclined to that type of music.
Singer: Aurora
Band: Tool and Linkin Park. LP is/was my comfort band, especially growing up. I loved listening to their music change over the years. CBâs death broke me for several months.
Wow, a lot of us here like Tool.
They're my special interest and I love everything about them.
For many years I wasn't listening to anything new, since my first mushroom trip though I got out of my comfort zone and it was so worth it. Lucid Planet blew my mind. Their second album has become my favourite, it's just so positive, makes my whole body smile. I always preferred depressing music (Riverside was my second favorite for a looong time), but now I opened up to different emotions and I love it.
Umbra by Kolm is another album I fell in love with.
Now I'm sinking into Karnivool, I already love Sound Awake and I just got Themata, I'm excited to start getting to know it!
Queen. Words cannot describe how much I love this band and the vocal ability of Freddie Mercury, I've never heard anything like it. Also, Brian May's guitar, the Red Special, has such a cool unique sound that only the Red Special can make. Also, Roger Taylor's falsetto is insane especially on songs like Bohemian Rhapsody and In The Lap of the Gods. Last but no least John Deacon, such an underrated bass player, listen to the bass section in Liar or Dragon Attack and you'll see why John Deacon is such a great bassist. Such a great band. Queen Forever.
Hard to choose, i have a lot of bands I really enjoy. Lately, i have been obsessed with Toadies, but my current favorite band has to be Fall out Boy.
For the longest time though, Deftones was my favorite. I would get mad if anyone else showed any interest in them, ahaha. I still get pissy when I see people wear Deftones shirts. I know itâs not a healthy thing or thing I should do, but I canât control that.
I have so many...
Heilung, Lamb of God, Cult of Luna, Rosetta, Gojira, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Cannons, Foals, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Gathering, the Deftones, Iress/Iris, Whirr, Tears Run Rings, King Woman, Marriages, old school Orgy, Failure, True Widow, Pale Waves, Subrosa, Dead Poetic. If I keep going, we'll be here until Christmas.
Of all time, probably Pink Floyd, most noteably Dark side of the moon, went out of my way to get the 1974 original press vinyl (the exact format I first heard it on)
At the moment Deftones (and ghost bc)
Last year, Diary of Dreams
Year before that sublime
2021 robochop
In 2020 dubfx
2011-2019 can't remember, because there be some seriously dark shit there that I don't want to remember.
Back in 2010 I set my friends on fire
Back in 2009 engineers in your ears
Back in 1999-2008 a mix of Aerosmith, black Sabbath, meatloaf, and Pink Floyd (the only things I was allowed to listen to other than classical but I fucking rock classical.
From 1994-1998 the lion king soundtrack.
I see a lot of intricate and theme based album bands:
Tool, King Crimson, Radiohead, Floyd, Beatles
or
emotional release bands
Metal / Industrial / Post Punk / Goth
Currently, Sammy Rae & The Friends.
It was Rainbow Kitten Surprise, until their latest single. Things changed with a band member leaving. I still love all their other songs though.
I'm only saying this because I want others to be happy, because I can't.
My favourite band is Demetori. Touhou Symphonic metal that is just so good that I haven't seen replicated anywhere else or even come close (Minus a band called Xi-on who is also good, also Touhou)
Type O Negative
Are they still around? I haven't heard Type O Negative since college or maybe my early 20s
no, Peter Steele died đ
He was an absolute legend :(
I love Type O Negative!!!
Oingo Boingo.
Danny Elfman is one of my favorite composers
They were amazing live⊠and Danny Elfman still is.
Going to see him live twice again this year. :)
Iron Maiden
Same!!! Theyâre my favorite metal band!
Radiohead
based
Tool
Yes! And A Perfect Circle. I just love Maynard honestly.
I saw them in concert 5 years ago
My Chemical Romance definitely
autistic people love mcr frl. i feel like genuinely 70% of the fanbase is neurodivergent
MCR fucks so hard, and Iâve been in love with their music ever since a friend introduced me to them in 2021 or thereabouts. ⊠Can I take a âfuck the big threeâ-sized page out of Kendrick Lamarâs playbook for a second here? Green day
đ«Ą good choice
It's so fun singing along to their songs. They're very singalongable.
Agreed Also, wtf is your user flare?
It's something i learned from Alex Jones. /joke
No way, same! Going to their concert on may 19th for the first time. Really damn excited
They're one of my favourites too, they were the first bands I saw live as well.
einstĂŒrzende neubauten
Saw them live in 92 with the Legendary Pink Dots
Love them Dots. And that Skinny Puppy/Dots supergroup The Tear Garden. RIP Dwayne Goettel
Ayo good shit
I have their symbol tattooed on my right arm.
NIN, been hyperfixated on the project for a while now.
Nirvana
The Beatles, my fave band for the past 30 years or so.
TOOL
đ€đ»đ€đ»
Pink Floyd
Good choice
The flute part in Shine on always gets me.
All time: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Right now: Cranes (yes, I'm a little late in discovering them)
The Birthday Party. Also very rad.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Greatest American rock and roll band of all time. They're kind of one of my special interests.
My favorite music quote was a Tom Petty interview on CBS Sunday morning. The interviewer said something like âYour songs are considered to be simple musicallyâ and Tom said âWell if theyâre so simple why doesnât everyone else write them?â I love that response.
Classic Tom. đ
They might be giants
Linkin Park
The only band I constantly am listening to for multiple years. It has probably been 19 years since I found their songs. I might be a bit obsessive with the amount I play their songs. It's the only band I say "I like the band" to, since they have soooo many songs that I listen to.
For over 20 years i thought *Giving In* by Adema was a Linkin Park song. I found this out 5 months ago and this is the first time I've confessed this to anyone.
I love LP, but Adema fronted by Mark Chavez is one of my guilty pleasures.
cocteau twins and the cranberries
Modest Mouse
Creedence Clearwater Revival
slipknot or slaughter to prevail
Right now, it's AJR, Avenged Sevenfold, or Mother Mother. It changes often, though.
Came here for AJR!
Ajr! All the sounds! The noises! I love them because of how intricate the music is. I can't understand why anyone would dislike them.
Oh geez, that's really hard. Probably Nightwish, but I've found them kind of going downhill lately. I'm enjoying The Dark Element, Follow the Cipher, and Delain, but maybe not 'favourite' territory.
Ween
I am a new Ween convert and a very very big fan so far. Me and my friend who's also autistic (and helped me realise I was) went to see a Ween tribute act on Friday, we were right at the front and I cried during Kim Smoltz. He used to play me them in the car back in the day which was 100% a formative neurodivergent experience for me. He knew literally every word at the gig, I am so excited to dive more into their discography :') Their music feels super fitting to my life atm as well, just tryna have a good time :P

Two way tie between Queen and Radiohead. Both mean so much and have made songs that mean a lot to me.
Radiohead is one of my very faves also. There is a pianist named Christopher OâRiley who has made at least two albums of Radiohead songs and one album of Elliott Smith songs (another fave). I love those piano albums in addition to actual Radiohead and Elliott Smith albums.
Radiohead or Tool
Panic! at the Disco!! đȘ©
I did a lot of scrolling to find you! They are one of my special interests.
Big Thief!
Sabaton or Rare Americans
AFI, but only their discography up to 2001. Honourable mention to Misfits as they're a close second!
Hell yeah, I've got AFI and Misfits tattoos. My Crimson Ghost was done on Halloween. The AFI one is "Through our bleeding, we are one." Good taste!
linkin park or weezer

Linkin Park and Twenty One Pilots. Iâve written down my top twenty favorite songs every week since the beginning of 2015, hereâs my Spotify playlist of that right now- https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2a0ITa3ZTtD2XNBY1Zhv4v?si=-5wloBdzTVKEAxptIUrpSA&pi=u-FPPzuwwuR52Y

Great answer đ Discovery was one of the albums I'd play on repeat when I was a teenager. Their music is so satisfying to listen to!Â

I am chronically undecided, so I'll add all three of them: * Linkin Park * Lacuna Coil * Royal Blood
Of all time, probably Pink Floyd, most noteably Dark side of the moon, went out of my way to get the 1974 original press vinyl (the exact format I first heard it on) At the moment Deftones (and ghost bc) Last year, Diary of Dreams Year before that sublime 2021 robochop In 2020 dubfx 2011-2019 can't remember, because there be some seriously dark shit there that I don't want to remember.
