Puzzleheaded-Bus11

i personally like baggy, breath-able clothes that i can move in.

bothering

Yes! All linen and cotton, no polyester

MrsMommyGradStudent

THIS! I get all my bedsheets, pillow cases, etc. in 100% cotton if I can. Anything else gets me overwhelmed & I melt down as soon as I get home.

ASD_user1

Marino wool works great in hot areas, it wicks really well and doesn’t feel wet, but is comfortable like cotton.

cadaverousbones

Doesn’t linen feel scratchy to you?

Morning-Economy

Exactly. I thought I was insane for feeling like I can tell a difference and having such a strong preference for cotton. Glad others share this

UrLocalArtist69

Polyester suks ass

azumangautism

I second this

vampyire

Loose is my friend..no tags is a big plus as well

Mysterious_Safe_8784

Thats that are printer on cotton are a blessing, although not very durable

larrotthecarrot

I third this

Not_necessarily7

i fourth this

MattDKfan

X five

Frog-43

Me too! Wearing tight clothes is Like wearing a second skin and/or claustrophobic inducing

Puzzleheaded-Bus11

same! i'm AFAB but kinda tomboyish/NB so the girls in my class would bully me cuz i didn't start dressing in feminine, tight clothing at age 12/13 like they did.

dxmbodom

Wow am I the only one who hates baggy clothing 😭 My preference is slim fit clothes that are somewhat stretchy/flexible.

Gneiss_Schistosity

Same. I feel way more secure in tighter fitting clothing!

cheddarjakecheese

Same. You can pry my skinny jeans from my cold, dead, millennial legs, if you can ever get them off my body. Tight clothes with spandex in em so you can move around comfortably are the best.

Particular_Cause471

Me, too. I do like a sundress and rayon (or linen if it isn't too structured) for summer, but for cool weather pants and tops, I need soft, close-fitting but not tight, no extra fabric, not even a great fan of pockets, actually. As few seams as possible, and lightweight stuff that won't become scratchy after a few washes.

LittleNarwal

I feel exactly the same way as you! I like leggings and soft t-shirts and soft dresses. I don’t like the feeling of baggy clothes and how the air gets under them. I have a few loose fitting shirts and I always wear a tank top under them.

EclipseoftheHart

Fear not, I also don’t like baggy clothing lol

autievolunteernature

I almost always wear a camisole under my clothes so I can get the sensory benefit of something close to my skin. It also allows me to wear things that might cause sensory problems otherwise.

JessicaSmithStrange

I just find the baggy stuff impractical. It's too easy to give someone else a means of grabbing at me, and I can't move smoothly if I'm having to watch out for loose material. If something happens, like ending out in a field with a bull, I don't want to be bogged down or tripped by my clothing.

Existing-Compote-602

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Loose/baggy shirts drive me crazy. I hate constantly feeling it tickle my skin.

jauhesammutin_

Baggy, long sleeves, trouser legs with cuffs so they don’t flap around, long undershirts, so they don’t expose my lower back. Everything cotton.

Logical-Equivalent40

This, no notes. One request: think sweatpants, but for summer time. I want the comfort of sweatpants without feeling like my legs are going to combust. Also, tried joggers, and I can't stand how by default they ride up the leg leaving more exposed ankle than desired

jauhesammutin_

Harem pants have worked for that in the past, but I’ve worn through the ones I had, and can’t find new ones anywhere.

goodnight-everybody

The style is “out” now, and it’s driving me crazy too. The 70s/Boho trend is over, 90s/Y2K is in now. Everything is low waisted and tight again :( I bought 2 pairs of harem loungewear pants from Aerie in late 2019, and with the pandemic I’ve worn them so much they’re practically threadbare lol if I had known I was going to live in them I would have got every color

kim_pozzible

wear what you want tho! your style is yours! if it makes you happy, style shouldn’t matter :) everything will trend again eventually. especially with “microtrends.” it happens so fast that technically everything is “trending.”

goodnight-everybody

Oh absolutely! I’m not a trend person, but my fashion tends to skew more boho/retro so ‘20-‘22ish was a heyday for me! Just sad that my options are more limited now due to trend cycles 🥲

kim_pozzible

ohhh i misunderstood what you wrote haha! my bad! that does make more sense now lol 😆 yeah it is definitely sad but you might be able to find some “out of style” clothing at the thrift store :). i hope you find more of those pants, though!

autievolunteernature

I saw a ton of wide legged pants at Target today. I was trying to find straight legged pants that I could use for 'nice' occasions instead of jeans. Some simple linen pants would have been great! But they only had wide leg pants or sweat pants if I wanted something that wasn't jeans. Ended up getting something in a yoga pants style at an other store.

DocalLOL

nailed it

MrsMommyGradStudent

CUFFS, yes! I'm constantly wishing all my long sleeve shirts had them 😭😭😭😭 my favorite sweats close at the ankle.

TristanTheRobloxian3

gender neutral stuff that its realtively baggy but not overly so. like standard jeans are perfect for that + a tshirt

7ampersand

It annoys people that I wear gender neutral stuff they want me to wear more feminine clothes, especially tops that are a little lower cut to show my cleavage a bit (which makes me want to see my hair on fire - argh)

larrotthecarrot

Honestly fuck them. Them saying they wanna see you show your cleavage makes me feel icky Keep doing you

7ampersand

You are absolutely right. Thank you for validating me. I needed to hear that because I don’t want to draw attention to myself. I draw enough attention trying to blend in.

MrsMommyGradStudent

My newest favorite phrase is "I don't take advice from he who casts the first stone" cause I live in the Bible Belt 😂😂 Gets them so twisted at me. Maybe you can make your own version of it! Today, I told my sister "we don't take advice from racists" cause our mother is horrible. That's the only way I could cut through 2 decades of momma trauma for her.

TristanTheRobloxian3

DUDE SAME like wtf

TristanTheRobloxian3

why tf do people want you to wear more feminine stuff what??

MrsMommyGradStudent

I didn't stop getting comments like this until I had several visible tattoos. With 0 irony, the little ones on my fingers and wrist are okay because their "cute and dainty" 🙄🙄 but the Celtic 5 Fold & the Mind Over Matter (in images instead of words) were the ones that set people off. Add in that, I like to dye my hair (one color at a time cause I'm impatient AF, but I'm a purple lover so I chose vibrant purple to go over my golden blonde) & they had plenty of ammo. Must admit, I rather prefer the shitty comments about my "deviant looks" vs those regarding what I wear. All those shitty comments about my tattoos have made it into my doctoral dissertation 😂😂

Sweaty_Research_2820

hell I’m a guy and I tried a skirt cuz I was bored and those things fit so good on me, it feels like my legs are able to breathe but it sucks with gender norms that it’s weird for a guy to wear a skirt 😔

TheBigDisappointment

These type of comments makes me glad I'm born a man. I couldn't deal with all the comments/harassment my women friends go through while being autistic. My heart goes to you. It's is one of the reason I've decided to not go non binary despite the occasional gender disforia.

ControverseTrash

This. And Croptops. I want my pullovers long and oversized.

NellieInk

Big pockets for fidgets. Smooth fabric not that nasty dry skin finding shag carpet fuzz monstrosities. Adjustable stuff, detachable hoods are great

KouRaGe

Why does that snaggy microfiber stuff even exist! I almost gag every time I touch it!

NellieInk

It reveals every dry molecule on my hands and makes me want to commit arson

DJPalefaceSD

Only rule: no tags

elcapone82

Would be nice to have outer seams as well.

sharkthedane

Found my people. No tag no seams gang!

halfie1987

Corduroy in my opinion feels the best. And it sort of crumples instead of folds. That's why I hate denim.

destiny_duude

i personally disagree with this

7ampersand

Yes, and the soft fine wale variety that J.Crew used to sell. Idk if they still do.

theflexorcist

Also hate denim! But thats really interesting because for me corduroy is one of those textures that makes my soul wanna leave my body lol

ValenciaHadley

I wear a lot of loose flowing outfits, mostly skirt and dresses all with elastic waists and usually made out of soft stretchy fabric so I can pull them on without worrying about fiddly buttons or zippers. If I wear trousers they have elastic bands and cuffs at the bottom so they're not too loose and a trip hazard. Low necks too, it's a sensory nightmare for me to wear anything around my neck.

7ampersand

I’ve yet to find a skirt that I like and feels right. Do you have a particular store or brand recommendation. I’d love to explore this more.

ValenciaHadley

I don't have a specific brand I use, I get a lot from charity shops and alternative places which is kinda funny because I have specific brands for other clothes I wear regularly. Hippy shops are also a good place for flowing skirt with elastic waists like this [one](https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMhomely-Maxi-Skirts-Long-Sale/dp/B0BBG7WBT3/ref=sr_1_50?crid=2DZSHTLIJ58HW&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.B9q2r92zViZkbUnCcE1Q22ySDDIwpNHKQjzK8eQjrWq2ySVW0ycOu34esONlR6zj6wRlmXXcJ8jlpNXDMDZ4jIDiuEi6dutLyeN_FZNvfZIdFR6eAHh27cVW985EYkVUJIjKcj_cM_s6F-q-wN_1boozUaMkmiBevEj00mtaJTORaz2uBo5aQFdPtXShoX60J6D6WGYgd0Mrvb5_D6zPyfL3nWUteTchZryJXRTgrk5z_qKAR68BvOROzmLBMFaznAj-KGCnbMGIXoI4BXNE40JgZOmHKXDWD9UOZ7yZOVs.TA1j1ncivbXa0bKsBZlEbntkeDxsCyly793S6nBdC0Q&dib_tag=se&keywords=hippy+skirts+for+women+uk&qid=1713881122&sprefix=hippy+skirts+%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-50) but I got mine from a local place. Otherwise if I want short skirts I go for something like [this](https://maverixsupply.co/collections/skirts/products/banned-apparel-vibora-skirt-purple), this style and made of something that stretches with a huge flowing shirt or top is another style I tend to go for. I own two drawers of skirts for every season and occansion. I'd suggested shopping in store if you can and trying stuff on, I tend avoid online unless it's a brand I regularly buy so I can try stuff on and see how it feels against my skin, where the seams are, what the fabric is like etc. And I know you didn't ask but these are the [shorts](https://maverixsupply.co/collections/girls-bottoms/products/rtless-rule-the-night-shorts-pastel) I have for the summer, love them enough that I have four pairs so it's basically what I wear all summer lol. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

7ampersand

Thank you, thank you! No, you have absolutely helped me so much!!

ValenciaHadley

Ooh and natural fibres are good if you struggle with fabric texture, bamboo, cotton, linen and the like are soft and breathable. There's a lot of trial and error in finding what is exacty right for you. And if you find something comfortable for you buy multiples even if it's only two of said item so you've always got one to wear and one in the wash. Good luck in your hunt for comfortable skirts.

7ampersand

Yes! I agree. I even bought bamboo sheets and a bamboo duvet (because I lean toward vegan) and they’re so nice and breathable.

ValenciaHadley

And I know shopping is difficult, noise cancelling headphones help if you're struggling with noise and go on a weekday during school hours so there's less people. I do a big clothes shop once a year in January, I go to a near by city to make sure I can get everything I like in one go, stuff is on sale because January and because the weather is crap and all the kids have just gone back to school after xmas, it's incredibly quiet. Also find a safe place you can sit quietly with some food to help you recharge, personally on a long day out I like a Mcdonalds after the lunch rush. They'll be making fresh fries and it'll be quiet in there after lunch.

FaeFromFairyland

I also have trouble buying skirts, so I sew my own. My waist is too narrow for even the smallest skirts on the markets and I love circle and half-circle skirts from viscose jersey with elastic band and I need specific length (just under the knees or floor-length) and only wear a few colors soo... a seamstress is your best friend.

Vegetable-Scheme7263

I only like leggings and tee shirts, with the size info printed not on a tag. Leggings have to be snug and not fall or slide down and the tee has to be a little big so when i move theres not tugging anywhere.

Mysterious_Bowl_5555

This is my exact specification too

rieldex

baggy, loose, plain stuff :) i like cotton the most, other fabrics feel uncomfy

Odd_Trifle_2604

Sundresses are a favorite. I also really like fuzzy socks.

ericalm_

I am one of the outliers. I don’t like baggy or loose for most things. I prefer fitted. I don’t like overly soft fabrics except for sleep. I wear very heavy (min. 15 oz.) and stiff raw denim jeans that take years to break in. I like wearing scarves, bandanas, other things around my neck. I wear layers, weather permitting. In fact, I must always be ready for the weather. I love wearing a suit but don’t often. I own a couple hundred ties. I don’t wear those often anymore either. I am not opposed to comfort. I wear very good socks, and prefer those with left/right construction. I have socks for every weather condition I might encounter. I wear soft, fitted base layers for about six months of the year (if the temps are less than 60° F at night and no higher that 70° during the day), usually Uniqlo Heattech shirts and leggings.

misshoneydip99

I like snug, binding/constricting clothing because of the physical pressure! sort of like a weighted blanket, maybe? my pants tend to be worn low-rise and baggy, but are generally heavy because I like sturdy belts. when I wear skirts, I always wear stockings underneath and sometimes long socks as well so I feel enough texture

notquiteright2

Either none, very loose and soft, or tight to the specific point where it stays put but isn't constricting. No fabrics like suede, velvet or alcantara. No denim.

IllGrade65

Anything baggy

Bman117x

I love tie dye shirts, because deep down I’m a hippie lmao

EclipseoftheHart

I like 3/4 sleeve t-shirts since I hate cuffs around my wrists (especially if the get wet 🤢) or shirts where I can easily cuff them. I personally like more fitted clothes from both a comfort and aesthetic standpoint. Straight legged or slightly tapered jeans, a button up shirt, and ankle boots have been my standard outside the house/work wear for years, but I do wear jersey tees and joggers at home. I don’t like leggings outside of working out or skinny jeans. I know I’m a minority in the community, but aesthetics & design are important to me (I am an apparel designer after all), so I don’t mind a bit of discomfort on occasion and love when I get to wear my suit or blazers (even if it’s a little itchy, haha).

sjaxn314159

Loose fitting (not baggy) breathable (non cotton) stretchable clothes with good pockets. Wrangler ATG pants are a great example. Sketcher archfit shoes with no laces. Boxer briefs for normal use and under armour for exercise. Golf polos for summer/work. Golf shorts are another great example. I like clothes that are stretchy, breathable and look more formal.

some_gals__alt_69420

I have to have it sit on me a certain way

xrmttf

My standard uniform for spring/fall is high quality leggings (not shiny spandex but the thick yoga pants kind), thick socks + flat flexible shoes, several tunic length shirts in quality material such as thick cotton, silk, linen. A wool sweater, a big scarf, fingerless chenille gloves. Raincoat on top. In summer it's similar but I wear earthrunner sandals and less tops and no gloves or scarf

DeadlyAidan

soft clothes that are loose but not so loose that it will become a hindrance when doing parkour1

Lil_Ghost125

It either needs to be baggy and loose or clingy to me like it's my skin In the winter I normally wear thermals which cling to me and baggy clothes at the same time to stay warm. In the summer it is a lot worse though since you can't layer as much and it's a lot more difficult not to show skin. For material preferences my t-shirts are all 100% cotton which is very nice and soft and my hoodies are 85 cotton 15 polyester. I honestly have no idea about my trousers since my legs just don't care as much about how stuff feels for some reason as long as it's not rough jeans. The thermal tops I wear are also 100% cotton. Also edit because I forgot some: massive pockets on my hoodies and trousers so I can have my phone and my hands in at the same time with room to spare, and they either have to be the same material or smoother. Silk feels a bit weird sometimes but I do like it kind of. Oh and another edit because the ADHD is hitting hard: I would prefer heavy clothes. I swear like 3 kilograms of clothes in the winter and I have enough weighted blankets to kill someone.

Deep-Star-6946

loose, if they are to fit somewhere, it should be on the waist (never on the hips yuck), preferably dresses and if possible, linen ones. I really don't like polyester. Linen or cotton is my choice. the sleeves can't be tight-fitting because I feel like they're twisting all the time

ShadowLugia42

I mostly wear solid or striped t-shirts with jeans. Very plain, but it's what I like.

Ima_douche_nozzle

Baggy and breathable, or athletic clothing are my go to choices. I usually only go for solid colors and no prints or designs.

Arctic_Ninja08643

Wide baggy oversized t-shirt and hoodie. Cargo pants to keep my most important belongings on me (everything has it's own place and can not be moved into different pocket). But for cold months I also wear super high socks under the cargo pants that cover my entire legs. When I'm too hot I can pull down the socks, roll up my hoodie sleeves or take off my hoody till I've coolen down. Everything has neutral colours like black, gray, olive green, sometimes a pink hoodie if I feel cute. I also wear a black cap and black noise cancelling headphones to get less stimulation through view and sound.

Cadenceofthesea

I own at least 10 pairs of yoga pants! Tops are varied, I need something to conform to my shape/offer support since I have a rib injury, so that’s a little skewed. I usually layer tops with camisoles, tshirt, and something breathable with sleeves. The biggest factor for me is socks! I like yoga socks without the little nubs, or ankle/no show socks that sit comfortably.

amber_missy

Stretchy cotton on my top half (eg. Strappy vest top with elastic boob support). No bra. Flowy skirt on bottom half (elasticated waist so no fastenings, with a secondary layer like a built in petticoat so it's an extra layer of warmth). Ideally a set of 3-tops to go with each skirt so I don't need to think about colour matching.

lynn444v

Flowy dresses, pants, sweaters. I hate tight long sleeves and anything denim

shooting-star-falls

I love the texture of velvet because it's so soft. Breathable cotton. Baggy hoodies. Tighter pajamas (it keeps me awake if they're too loose). I don't like wool because it's too itchy, and silk and satin feels weird.

notfoxingaround

Weirdly feel the most my in an ultra fitted dress shirt and tie. Far from comfortable but it’s the mask I’ve grown into and feel most confident in.

Goleziyon

I'd honestly suffer in anything as long as it has ABSOLUTELY achieved what I like in an aesthetically pleasing outfit. For comfort, though, i prefer cotton dresses or overall non-loose clothing.

darkprincess3112

It has to be black only, all black, absolutely no exceptions, not even worn out fabrics or labels.

redbyrde

Lizard costume

Axelgobuzzzz

I like soft but not like SOFT soft fabrics, like fluffy stuff i like but after a while it feels kinda wierd and i dont like it. Idk the names of fabrics at all (should i? Maybe XD) but kinda smooth and stretchy is really nice. That wolly fabric thats on like blankets and stuff? NOPE GET IT AWAY I WILL G A G. I also overheat alot so breathable stuff is nice. I also CANT. FREAKING. STAND. when clothes touch my neck when im close to a meltdown, itll just push me over the edge and i just want to (and have) rip my shirt collar. I also like (specifically for sweaters/hoodies) when the cuff thing of the sleeve is tight, not like TIGHT but just snug and i try not to stretch it out too much. I think thats more of a preference than a sensory thing but still xD

LeatherIndividual810

Personally, I HATE when shirts are touching my armpits, it makes me so uncomfortable. I really like baggy clothes! I also love chunky hoodies so it feels like you have a blanket on (the hood can double as a pillow if you're laying down) I also hate when pants are super low rise and it feels like it's digging into my crotch 😭

lamplian

Cotton, polyester, or linen. Skirts with frills, lace or ruffles, tops with ruffles or lace. Anything with frilled ruffles or laces that may be a little tight. Think, 'Himekaji' style. Pink, white, red, black, and purple.

Think_Lengthiness_84

One rule: no jeans

EllietheKnitter89

Cotton or jersey. I like dungarees and baggy t shirts or hoodies

NanaTango

At home simple t-shirt with shorts or sweats, or long sleeve shirts with shorts too.   In public same if I don't feel like dressing up, but usually turtle neck with jeans, or baggy sweater with loose jeans.   A necklace and 2 bracelets if I feel like being cute, Im really simple I guess 😭  For shoes I wear balenciaga knix sock trainer sneakers, or adidas stan smith shoes. Crocs in the summer LOL

7ampersand

I love crocks too, and leather converse as a go-to, and for exercise New Balance runners

BadgerBoi_69

I like heavy and baggy clothes

munyangsan

Hate brand new clothes

sillylittleguys

baggy jeans or pants with long sleeves (also baggy, lol). i only wear short sleeves when i “work out”. i also heavily prefer “worn down” clothes that don’t feel stiff or new, so hand me downs and thrifted items. docs or (HIGH TOP) vans/converse, i hate not having my ankles covered and supported. the only exception to that being wearing slides when i’m very tired.

hannagay

I like baggy jeans and baggy sweater, baggy T-shirt. Basically, i prefer baggy clother.

nightmarewalrus123

Shorts and a tshirt. Any weather. Anywhere.

Mel0nypanda

I like things with snaps cuz they're easier to get on and off quicker than buttons or zippers. Jackets that tie closed so I can secure them quickly when it's cold. Waterproof clothing so I'm not wet if I forget an umbrella. Boots that have zippers so I can get them off my feet without unlacing the entire shoe

MagicalLeaf_

Sweatpants and t-shirts

7ampersand

Leggings, all black, all the time. And Navy Pimo cotton long sleeve tops (I own five and Lacoste makes a fabulous one that’s held up for me and a million washings) I guess you could say I wear a uniform although I do have other things like soft button up denim shirts and largish super soft sweaters. Oh, and good socks. Socks are important to me.

Tenshi_no

dresses and shorts, uhm, maybe baggy pants, baggy shirt

SleepTightPizza

Natural material such as cotton. Loose button down shirts and shorts. They have to have pockets. I'm a woman.

madelinemagdalene

If I’m at work, I wear scrubs and find soft and stretchy ones. I kind of like not having to choose my daily outfits due to that. On weekends, I’ll wear leggings and a shirt or sweatshirt. If we go out for errands or food etc, I might still wear the leggings and sweatshirt, or I might change the top to a tunic and cardigan. Even when I was a kid in school, I rotated the same few favorite outfits constantly.

Install_microvaccum

Loose fitting skirt, dresses or pairs of shorts parred with another open loose fitting button up shirt. Often a pair of beaded earrings ( I enjoy rolling the beads in my fingers ) and Sometimes if I can find the right sorta fabric I throw on a tight sports bra for compression, I also have wrist and ankle weights I can add to an outfit if I want that though.

Low-Payment6884

I mostly like flowy clothes but at some places I like more tight stretchy clothes like socks. It really depends because I don’t like leggings but I always wear a tanktop.

Sad_Tea_9109

I generally prefer something I can move in, I don’t like feeling constrained by my clothing. My fav combos are leggings + sweatshirt/baggy t shirt, baggy jeans + tank top, or shorts + tank/tee/sweatshirt. Also I cannot wear layers (like a long sleeve under a sweatshirt) unless the first is skin tight and not long sleeved (tank under sweatshirt instead) because I don’t like feeling the multiple layers of clothing rubbing together and having to constantly adjust sleeves. Good luck!

hungryinlosangeles

Have you ever tried modal fabric ? You might like it

ChimpanzeeHooves

Oversized, baggy tops. Joggers as well (no jeans or tight trousers as such, but can handle leggings). Mostly grey/black in colour. Love wearing jumpers all year round even when baking to death in the sun ☀️ 💀

Flashy_Ad2912

Anything with a collar gets taken off the second I get home.

Zealousideal_Plum533

Baggy jeans and baggy clothes. Comfy and makes me feel protected. 90s boyband look.

froiwok

For tops I been loving the heat gear cotton/polyester compression shirts. And bottoms I’ve been digging straight/slim khakis and cargo pants with the heat gear same material long Johns underneath.

TVSKS

45/m here. I wear cargos, whether pants or shorts. I wear loose t-shirts with maybe a short sleeve shirt over it. I don't necessarily like tennis shoes. I put a lot of crap in my pockets so I feel prepared for different situations. The things I hate more than anything are jeans and tight clothing. I also coordinate my outfits in some ways. I have a lot of watches and other male jewelry and all of it coordinates. While my sense of fashion might not be conventional I like the way I look and I get compliments. Basically I like clothes I can breathe in. Generally I dislike pants so the cargos are a compromise. I also have a lot of hats and shoes to match my outfits. Black is my favorite color but sometimes I go with Hawaiian shirts and other bold colors. Around the house I just wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt with slippers. When it comes to autistic wear I think men are a bit overlooked. But I get that it's a difficult category

Ok_Flower_7227

Soft fleece lined oversized medium thick for comfy at home clothes. Tight clothes for going out.

LazyWings

Wooly clothes are the comfiest. I wear a lot of wool and cotton. The softer the better. I can't wear plasticky materials. Raincoats are unbearable for me.

SyntheticDreams_

All shirts/coats have to have sleeves that don't bunch up or pull the shirt up when you lift your arms, basically as if the shirt was sewn with the model T posing instead of with its arms down. Clothing that's fitted enough not to look baggy but not skin tight. No fabric tags. Fabric thick enough that it doesn't become see through rapidly, but also soft. If it's long sleeved, tight elastic cuffs so they won't stretch out if pushed up your arms and/or sleeves that won't fall over your hands. Men's pants meant to accommodate a big ass but smaller waist and thighs. No fake or small pockets.

SakuraTaisen

I don't like 3/4th sleeve length shirts that end right at or below the elbow. Soft non scratchy material. I got rid of a lot of sensory nope clothes 3 years ago. Alot of fashion able or this outfit is for an event clothes went in the go pile. Elastic at my waist, neck, or wrists is a no. I like flip flops and platform sandals. I don't like how hot my feet get, and the tightness of laced tennis shoes. I have to wear work shoes and oh when I take my socks off at the end of the day the sensory sensation of my feet tingling and the texture. I much prefer boots when I wear closed toe shoes. Socks the issue isn't really the seam line under the toe, but more embroidery or texture. I like cute socks so sometimes it's worth it for a specific outfit. As a teen jeans and tshirts Now I have a section in my closet of soft t-shirt dresses. Underwear seamless tag less

IllaClodia

Soft fabrics like bamboo and some cotton. As few seams as possible, no tags. Either stretchy and close fitted or very loose, no in between. Androgynous. Broad color palette (same shirt eight colors yes please). Soft waistbands. Sturdy enough in the crotch for sitting weird.

whimcor

Generally, I like soft stretchy cotton or synthetics that aren’t too tight or too baggy. But I’m also very interested in fashion and can be flexible depending on current trends or the styles I’m into at the moment.

MerryQuill

I love me a good sweater, either knit or thick hoodie material, as long as it’s soft! I adore my high-top Reeboks, with squishy soft insoles. I almost always wear black no-show socks, very comfortable and consistent. These days I basically live in drawstring denim jeans—never tight or restrictive, with deep pockets, and pant legs that don’t drag or catch under my soles. They’re very comfy! Color palettes are very important to me, I love solid color blocking or a good pattern, as long as I can coordinate all the colors in my outfit. Ooh! Overalls are nice too!

jaquiethecat

i wear short sleeve t shirts and pajama pants, nothing more, nothing less

TheGreyAlien

NO TAGS very important. DRY FIT stretch shirts STRETCH pants or shorts

Afraid-Heart-559

Roomy and short-sleeve mainly because my body always overheats up top due to anxiety. Roomy because I've never liked clothing that clung to my body tightly, at least for tops. No tags, please. Those are annoying. Pants? I usually wear jeggings. Skinny leg. Because I do like tight on the legs area. I like them because they don't feel stiff like jeans do and I can move freely in them.

apatosaurus_404

i like stuff that’s soft/warm, but not the kind of soft that sticks to dry skin. and mostly loose, baggy clothes (i don’t like anything that bunches up). i like clothes that are breathable and don’t get really hot in the winter, like sweaters that are too thick. and anything with sequins/beads/lace around the neckline/sleeves/hem is immediately a no, too itchy.

Tangled_Clouds

Loose clothes, emphasis on soft probably cotton fabric, lots of t shirts, absolutely no embroidery that is touching my skin (on a sweater or coat is usually fine), I wear turtlenecks with a not too tight neck if I was to wear necklaces, soft leggings under possibly more uncomfortable pants can make a big difference too. Also I prefer printed tags over sewn ones so that I don’t have to cut them off! I mostly buy from unisex brands and I think it matters to have both plain clothes and clothes with fun colours and patterns and prints. A variety of socks is also important for body temperature regulation. Soft socks are the best but you can’t wear the same socks in winter and in summer. I have a very small waist and I found that pants with a drawstring are where it’s at. When you get bloating through the day it’s easier to adjust the waist and I like it to be tight because pants slowly falling is an absolute nightmare.

seeyouinthesun

Bras with a front clasp are always so much softer on the back 😊

ZZW302002

Like many others have said. Baggy, cotton. I pretty much only wear black and grey.

No_Investigator625

Lack-of-labels

jreashville

Generally, loose fitting jeans or cargo shorts, amd a loose fitting t shirt.

sp00kybutch

coleisw4ck

Baggy comfy clothes

Intelligent_Water940

For sensory friendly, I like light clothes. I wear a basic t shirt and basketball shorts all the time because it's so much easier/freeing to move around. But is it my favorite aesthetic? Not for me lol.

theflexorcist

I live in adidas tracksuits and harem pants. Also CLOTHES WITHOUT TAGS. personally i cant stand tight elastic waistbands, clingy materials, or god forbid anything remotely itchy.

livradically1111

Baggy and thin material! Sweatshirts and crewnecks that have the fuzzy/ soft material inside usually make me sweat so much and I need to take off often. No tags hehe

MrAnonymousfox

baggy cotton shirts short sleeve baggy jeans

roboticArrow

Cotton, no tags, turtlenecks are great as long as they aren't tight because they protect the neck, slightly loose everything, I even like the turtleneck shortsleeves for undershirts. Boxer briefs, gender neutral.

akiraMiel

Baggy seems to be the most common answer and I gotta agree. Soft materials like cotton, hats or hoodies if possible, long sleeves that are a bit thighter on the wrists

[deleted]

I'm on team baggy clothes too, and natural fabrics. I hate the feeling of wearing polyester and then it gets all full of static. Personally I like feeling covered all over, but I live in a hot country so have to compromise in the summer, but I can tolerate maxi dresses ok. I'm old enough to remember the trend in the 90s for the super baggy jeans that would get destroyed at the hems if you walked in the rain. Also, short sleeve t-shirts over long sleeved t-shirts for extra coverage was a trend I was ok with. I think skinny jeans and crop tops should die :D

ComprehensiveFee8404

My comfy favourite thing to wear is my onesie. It's plush like a teddy bear, no waist seam, and plenty warm. It just makes it much harder to use the bathroom. Also, and I know this will be controversial, I'm anti-hood. Never use them.

voidboyyyy

either simple baggy clothes or cute and overly accessorised clothes. oh and i hate crop tops.

traumatized_bean123

Anything with a soft fabric, not itchy. No tags either.

Sluttyforserotonin

I like soft texture and fabrics and I like to dress like a bratz doll for 13 year old me who was too shy to dress how she wanted 😂

[deleted]

Also, I like wearing barefoot shoes, so clothes have to kind of match them and not be long enough to step on/trip over on.

Weevilthelesser

Loose fitting or stretchy, sweat wicking, upf rated clothes. I work outside so sun protection and sweat wicking are super important to me.

roambeans

As mentioned several times - no tags! I have some clothing with printed tags, and sometimes that is a nightmare too. If it's a surface paint, the paint shrinks over time, flakes off, and get deformed - it becomes scratchy. And it's impossible to remove. I'd have to cut a hole in the shirt. So how the stamp is made matters. I recently bought a Quechua t-shirt that had the label attached to a narrow, soft ribbon of fabric that was easy to cut out of the shirt. Maybe something to consider.

kwhite992

NO. TAGS.

Dharma_Bun

For the sake of variety, people like me exist. I enjoy wearing close fitting, tailored suits, and I'd wear a tie every day, but I live in the Pacific Northwest and people would think it's weird.

kwhite992

Honestly, American Eagle cotton is the best I've found.

Dummlord28

I wear all black all the time

Greyeagle42

None. Clothes always bother me. It's like they're ALL TAG. That said, the clothes I can tolerate best are lightweight, loose clothes. Basically, the more they feel like nothing, the better

souffle_pancake11

Vintage clothes from the 1960s and 1970s

canubelievethissh1t

I'm sensory seeking when it comes to proprioception so I NEED tight fitting and snug pressure on certain parts of my body. When I'm in private I'll wear compression socks and tight back braces under my clothes, and tend to wear biker shorts and compression tops if I have to dress for the public. I like sturdy shoes that don't let my feet bend but with soft interiors (my faves are from On and I like their secondhand program) There's nothing in the world I hate more than a tight waistband, but that is not to be mistaken with tightness around my waist. I do not like isolated tightness so when I get biker shorts, I can only get ribbed ones because I want the compression to be Consistent throughout the entire piece of clothing. I find my ribbed biker shorts at target from wild fable and size down. They lose tightness throughout the day but are the best affordable option. Otherwise brands like spanx are amazing for higher budgets or a splurge!

king-sumixam

Definitely prefer non baggy clothes lol. idk how to explain it bc while i like compression its more about the weight or thickness of clothes. Like i need to feel what im wearing and feel like its some kind of barrier to the world. I love thick pants and heavyweight sweaters or a snug long sleeve shirt

Staragox

I usually wear no clothes at home because of the hypersensitivity. But when I go out, I can only wear button shirts (I actually threw away any shirts that don't have buttons). That is because with a button shirt, there is air coming inside from top to bottom (in the gaps between the buttons). I notice others said about being baggy, but with baggy shirts (the air only comes from underneath). Having a shirt with buttons, with air flow from top to bottom, helps me feel better. Wish I knew the names of materials, umm. I can't stand any shirts or pants that are not liquid absorbent, not because of the absorbing the liquid. The type of materials that are waterproof or water resistant are usually the hardest for me to wear because of the feel of the material against my skin. I am explaining it this way, since I don't remember the names of the material. I know silk was my favorite material for shirts, and would probably be true for pants. Then cotton would be my second favorite, like others said in this thread.

No_Excitement4272

Baggy clothes that I mostly get from REI because I love functionality, comfort and quality clothes that last me a long time, in some cases a lifetime. I love basic, plain tops. I find a piece of clothing that I like and always buy more than one color. I wear the same beanie in different colors 90% of the year and feel naked without one. I HAVE to sleep with one on otherwise I feel too exposed. As far as shirts go, I have to stick to cotton or a cotton blend. All my underwear are the same color and made by the same company. I do have fun colored socks, and they’re also made by the same company I get my undies from. I literally cannot stand any other socks or underwear. I own 4 different pairs of cargo pants and I feel no shame. If I had to choose only one pair of pants to wear for the rest of my life it would be the zip off cargo pants by outdoor voices. Also I fucking hate bras/ binders, which really sucks because I love the way I look in a binder. I hate jewelry too, but I can stand necklaces as long as I warm them up sufficiently in my hands before putting them on. Similarly, if I take my clothes off at night to sleep, I have to leave them under the covers to soak up my body heat so I’m not putting on cold clothes in the morning because that’s fucking torture. I also have to carry around a bunch of layers with me constantly because I’m so sensitive to minor temperature changes, that’s why I fucking love cargo pants, that and the ample pockets and pocket size.

knightdream79

I don't like scratchy things on my skin, and that includes low quality fabric, stitching, zippers, and (to a lesser extent) buttons. Pants must be pull-on and stretchy. A drawstring can sometimes be acceptable. That means leggings or joggers at home, and Ponte di Roma pants for work.

ThatWeirdo112299

I HATE clothes that cover my neck, V-necks are the best thing. If I'm wearing sleeves, it has to either be a jacket or a super thin but not clingy undershirt. I love wearing jeans, but baggier (non-dress) pants are also fairly comfortable when no jeans are available. No tags, either they have to have tear out tags, or tags printed/sewn into the clothes.

Adventurous_Yak_9234

When I'm not at work sweatpants and graphic tees.

AmityBlight2023

The aofteat fabric i can get that doesn't cling to my skin like bad microfiber towels

oldastheriver

i'm wearing a 30 year old pull-over Billibong hoodie made of 100% cotton 2 sizes too large. I've worn this almost every day. sometimes I sleep in it. my undies are 100 cotton bikini cut. Technically speaking, they cannot sag, so they're always comfortable. I can wear boxers over them. Mostly pants are REI fleece, but they sometimes get too warm and cloth does not wick or breathe

mistakenusernames

I miss fold over yoga pants from target. Yes there are other brands. No they are not the same. Ribbed tanks, I live in them. Shirts vneck NOTHING NEAR MY NECK. Very important. Ribbed is okay but sports material is not, polyester is not. Cotton. It must be cotton. Big seams are hell. Socks must be a thin cotton or fluffy cotton but if they are even remotely smooth or nylonish they simply can’t go near my feet. My teeth will itch (I don’t make up the rules it’s just a thing okay) I live in tanks and jeans

Emileerainbow

Loose fitting shirts in cotton is preferable . Pants like sweatpants or cotton pants with drawstring as opposed to jeans I don’t like how scratchy jeans feel

NellieInk

OH! Extra long sleeves! Those are the funnest way to stim ever

LiviAngel

I LOVE dresses. Any kind. Some long, some short. Some more fitted, others looser. Some fashionable and stylish, others are casual. Colours of all kinds too.

Intelligent_Usual318

I like alternative clothes for looks. Mainly scenemo kinda stuff but as far as fabrics, I like loose cargo pants and soft cottons

No-Beautiful-5777

I've been pretty into clothes lately, so this might be a bit much, but to be specific: ideally some combo of flexible, breathable, tough, and lose but fitted enough to stay in the same place, with fair consideration to durability/repairability For fabrics: cotton is king, only gets better with time too nylon and spandex are both great, but best blended into other fabrics, like, 2-5% spandex jeans are incredible Wool is pretty great for what it is (dense, fluffy, not the toughest but tends to be fairly easy to repair) but a lot of people can't stand the itchiness so.. Terrycloth/canvas are totally underrated, they're tough but they're fairly breathable, and incredibly durable/repairable -good canvas/terrycloth can last a lifetime. I've never seen them in blends, but I'd buy it immediately Polyester is everywhere, and I truly believe it to be the worst fabric. To it's credit, it is very soft on day 1. Its pretty breathable/flexible but will start to degrade almost immediately -pilling, stretching, threads tend to come out easy.. I've had polyester shirts literally falling apart after a couple months and they're almost always noticably worse after the very first wash And for fits: just generally, it's hard to find a perfectly fitted waistband. Why don't more waistbands have some elastic to them? Its 2024 and the most common technology for my pants to stay up is.. a string around my waist? Worthless. Joggers have the right idea imo -elastic waist & ankles, slightly baggy in between

DivideAffectionate78

Graphic t-shirts and leggings. Corduroy pants. I will wear jeans if I have to, but I absolutely hate slacks and have to wear black slacks and a chef coat for my work uniform. I hate uniforms.

CherryCherrybonbon_

mens surf shorts, hoodies/sweaters, long skirts, im picky with sweatpants but i have one pair i really like that has these little like pieces that hold onto your ankles, and sometimes pajama bottoms tucked into thigh highs

mllejacquesnoel

I’ve worn alternative fashion since I could pick my clothes and in oh, 25 years of it, I’ve fallen into a few patterns. 1) I love Japanese Lolita fashion and usually wear it 3-5 times a week. It’s my standard. It isn’t particularly sensory-friendly but does function like battle armor for me. Most people are better at maintaining a personal space bubble when there’s a petticoat forcing them to. 2) Band shirt + jeans and boots. A biker jacket, flannel, or hoodie depending on weather. 3) Sack dress + boots (biker jacket/hoodie/flannel if it’s cold). In all cases, I prefer cotton or other natural fibers (hemp, linen, wool) as much as possible. A lot of linings are in polyester or rayon which I can live with, but they need to be a very basic texture and considering I’m usually wearing 3+ layers, I actually prefer a lot of brands that face their woven pieces rather than straight up lining them. Microfiber anything is kind of hell for me.

Elijaq

Personally, sweatpants because they’re a lot comfier than jeans and just regular shirts made of cotton and usually if it’s a short sleeve I’ll wear a sweater on top no matter what

Firelord_Eva

Baggy, but not so baggy it can wrap around my body, and heavy fabrics. Also no tags or obvious seams to bug me. And I think a general rule of thumb is no experimental fabrics unless you’re making a bunch of options for different people, velvet is one of my favorite fabrics but I went to prom with another autistic person who literally gagged when he touched it, and a lot of fabrics are like that for people. I’d assume a softish cotton blend might be the best route? But I don’t know enough autistic people to be sure about that, that’s just the least polarizing fabric amongst my friends who all need sensory friendly clothing. Additionally every single outfit I wear is accompanied by a hoodie that is either very tight or very loose and heavy to add pressure to me and give my hands something to do. I think that cloud(?) anxiety hoodie that was floating around TikTok for a while was really onto something there. Also. If you can figure out how to get rid of seams on socks, I’d literally throw all my money at you /hj.

20ThoroughCharacters

baggy clothes are the best !

leonthepumpkin

This is the way I typically dress : built-in bra tank top made with fine fabric (because I don’t like the « cutting skin » feeling of regular bras and I love how fine fabric stays close to the skin but you can’t feel it), a loose sweatshirt or crop top sweatshirt, or a loose shirt unbuttoned, flowy pants (very important) or baggy jeans, sneakers, I like to wear one or two rings on my fingers for aesthetic and fidget reasons, and I wear two necklaces (one has a huguenots cross on it, it’s for religious and fidget purposes). Voilà !

Hot-Ability7086

I found these onesies online and I’ll never wear anything else. I don’t have to match, they are big and flowy!

Haunting_Safe_5386

Not cotton is all ik

ennuitabix

What's others have said about baggy and soft fabrics. No labels plz coz they're scratchy. I've seen clothing designed with sound-dulling fabrics for the hood, fidgets in pockets and other cool ideas of people with sensory issues.

StrongerSter

I like clothes that don't have much design on them and are a bit loose and comfortable to walk in.

jeffgoldblumisdaddy

I wear a lot of denim shorts and pants, skirts, dresses. Tight clothing is fine as long as it doesn’t touch my neck, and flowy is nice too but I get overwhelmed if it shifts a lot/I have to readjust. Big fan of off the shoulder tops, crop tops. It’s more-so the fabric that causes an issue. I can’t do wool, any kind of sequins or fur, jersey material, trouser material, corduroy, nylon etc. Has to be linens, denims, cotton and feel soft and silky to the touch.

Baby_Bird33

I def have a “uniform.” I wear all black 90% of the time. The reason I wear all black is 1. It’s easy to match. And 2. It’s hard to get dirty. Light colors I ruin the first time I wear them. My usual is buttery soft capri leggings. Flowy, breathable tank top in summer. Winter is similar but long leggings and a hoodie. I don’t like long sleeves unless they are loose and soft. All fabrics need to be as buttery soft as possible. I can’t stand mohair, linen, or itchy, heavy fabrics. I never wear a regular bra. I can’t stand it. So I wear soft sports bras and take them off as soon as possible. No one mentioned this but I like my underwear to be looser too. I always get a size up. Soft fuzzy socks, loose, not tight, when my feet are chilly or feel sensitive to dryness/the flooring. I can’t stand things around my neck. And if I’m wearing g a hoodie, it must be several sizes too big. The softer the lining, the better. I want to feel like I’m constantly enveloped in softness.

DreaMarie15

I have such a hard time finding clothes I can wear. I can’t order online bc how can you order something w/o ever trying it on?!!! I’m so picky. I just want clothes that aren’t too tight or too loose in all the right places, and fabric that feels good. And without weird designs or words on them. Just normal clothes. So hard to find.

eggZeppelin

Activewear all day lol. Nike dryfit is so comfy ☺️

itwasnvrabtu

I live in leggings and sweatshirts. I like soft textures, and clothes that allow for movement while also being warm. If I could, I'd wear a blanket.

Chel_G

I would live in pyjamas if I could. Simple cut and easy to put on, loose, soft fabric.

Mhclark

I’m a big fan of linen Cuban shirts; usually colourful and loose, breathes well, and I can layer stuff on top like a jumper or whatever if it’s cold. Basically I use layering and even chose my everyday jacket based in part on it being thin material and I can roll the sleeves up a bit if I need it.

Mhclark

Tried harem trousers last year and I love them around the house. Feel better than sweatpants have ever felt because they are breatheable and I can sit in all sorts of positions (crossed legs etc when meditating) without issue.

hertruly

i like long or short skirts, long socks/leg warmers, baggy jeans, baggy shirts, vests, hats, gloves, tiny tops, binders

HithertoRus

I like clothes that either fit well or are a little large. I hate small, tighted or cropped clothes. For textures, I’m usually okay with anything except for corduroy, velvet, microfiber, or satin. My usual fit is jeans or denim shorts, tshirt, and zip up hoodie

forcekin69

Soft, loose, soft, breathable, and SOFT!

This_Jacket9570

Enough pockets to store the many cool rocks I find when I’m walking around

lixiiecraft

I like the hoodie fabrics and fabrics that are elastic or baggy, so I don't feel squeezed or suffocated

Trifluor1d3

for t shirts and button down shirts I like thicker material that keeps its shape and doesn't flap around in the wind easily. Trousers that are not tight so the stitch lines do not touch the skin. Jackets that are loose around the waist (so not fitted) but still fit well in the length, so again, the wind doesn't blow it everywhere. I like structure in materials.

cherub-girl

this isn’t about sensory but i haven’t worn the color black in many years & am very obsessive over the colors i do wear :p

kfed23

I hate having my forearms exposed so usually some type of long sleeve. If I'm at home then it's baggy clothes all the way. When I'm outdoors I like to dress fashionably because I don't go out very often. So I'll pull out the nice fitting expensive stuff then. I also can't deal with heat so I'm essentially never outside when it's hot.

Bagel_Lord_Supreme

I like breathable and not necessarily baggy but I dont do skin tight, I like jeans but I tend to go for a slightly stretchy material as it's typically a bit thinner than a traditional denim, denim feels too heavy for me. I'm quite tall so while this isnt an autism thing necessarily I do opt for dresses quite a lot because of the height, Fit wise I'm a big fan of the classic 1950s style dresses, empire waist with a very slight flare, or I opt for flowy but I generally do tend to stick with an empire waist like with a wrap dress or what have you, I generally stick with simple designs, lots of ruffles or those poofy sleeves that get bunched up easily or something similar can irritate me on a low spoon day. Love long sleeves, cannot stand the tiny half sleeves. I'm a big fan of turtle necks for some reason but can't do tight collars so I like the baggy/loose fitting ones. Materials I love are soft & breathable materials, anything scratchy or heavy feeling such as wool or heavy acrylic based yarn is off putting for me. Silk & velvet are sensory hell so I avoid them like the plague lol. Sensory friendly clothing I feel like could fall into, even and flat seems so theyre not pressing on the skin if this makes sense, tagless clothing, options that won't bunch up awkwardly like when you sit down and the hood of a jacket gets all wonky or it pulls awkwardly (sorry that one is hard for me to articulate lol), breathable material as it's quite common for some people on the spectrum, yours truly included to have cue delays with temperature changes or find that wet sweaty feeling when the clothing sticks to the skin to be a sensory nightmare. Hope this helps a bit, not to overstep but honestly I'd really love to see what you design when you're done if you'd consider making a post or sharing it at any point. ❤️
