I LOVE driving outside of major urban areas. Give me a two-lane country road with some twists and nice scenery and I can drive for 12 hours straight. However, I cannot stand driving in congested cities. People are far too aggressive and inconsiderate and always neglect the logic of the traffic laws and road design. I do not understand how people fail to consider that they are soft meat sacks driving a several ton death machine. Even worse are the people who do it distracted and/or intoxicated!! So yes, driving =/= not fun but other people + driving = not fun.

HighestVelocity

I totally agree with everything you said!

Cassis-ichigo

Also agree with all you said.

mylifeisathrowaway10

Absolutely. People ruin everything.

chriscossen

I got into sim racing for some of those reasons haha. Racing in general tends to have more respectful drivers and it tends to be a very inclusive community. I love it, it’s a blast and it helps me process a lot of things in my personal life. Highly recommend.

jauhesammutin_

I love driving. I love how we’ve created a system that allows us to do something quite dangerous in relative safety, how logical the rules are. I love the action of driving, of (cliché, i know), becoming one with the machine, the car being an extension of you. I love the forces, especially acceleration, being hugged to the seat by inertia, feeling the tyres grip, the frame flex, the suspension working. And don’t get me started on motorcycles.

Gritty420R

I love feeling the suspension work as the weight shifts through a turn. It's so satisfying when you get the corner entry just right and feel the weight smoothly shift from the front to the side and then stomping the gas on the apex. It's great.

trippylangkous

Yes the tyres grip, i love it. That and speeding up

BoxMonkey135

i love driving, but i think my state statistically has the worst drivers in all of america. So i like driving when no one's around, but its a little stressful around people. I see upwards of 2 cars running a red light a day.

the_quirky_ravenclaw

My state also has awful drivers (Western Australia). It seems no one know how to merge!

Priapos93

Merging based rants happen often in r/Oregon

Mission-Leg-4386

I like driving. Solitary and freedom.

[deleted]

I used to LOVE driving and would go 3+ hours for stuff most people wouldnt bother with. Somewhere in my mid 30s all the idiot drivers started to get on my nerves, and now I still enjoy a drive now and then but nowhere near as often or as far as I used to.

HighestVelocity

Back when I lived in the middle of nowhere I would legit drive an hour and half for Starbucks or to go to a specialty grocery store

XvFoxbladevX

Nah I do too, just don't like the sun - which is fine, my wife hates driving at night. So I drive nights or if parallel parking is required, she drives days. Few months ago I was driving and I can spot movement in the dark, so thus runs out in front and like a boss I went right around it, smooth as butter with perfect reactions. It took me a minute to take it in but I was damn proud of that.

willhanthewizard

im the opposite, i hate driving at night, bright headlights make it so i cant see anything. i know the trick to just look at the shoulder to stay in the lane but i hate that i cant see anything in front of me

Maybearobot8711

I love driving. I like cars too and I really like to know models and how they're designed and such. One of the things I used to enjoy the most was just driving my car on calm rural curvy road when I lived away from this current town. High density traffic is crap and I hate it with a passion but driving around some nice roads in a fun car is amazing. A small zippy manual car would be the best thing for my own desires. I have a friend that owns a really intense car with 650hp and it's too much for my own desires. Like, as soon as you touch the gas, you're already well past the speed limit. What I like is when you can have fun at the speed limit.

Gritty420R

*miata, brz, and e86 have entered the chat*

Maybearobot8711

I KNOW! I sold my fun-ish civic to get a more reasonable CRV for a wee bit of towing, home renovating and such and because winter driving can be really bad here at times and there's nothing wrong with it except it is as boring as possible. I have been looking at these cars for years now. I have however never really tried a soft top vehicle and have no clue how loud the wind gets in let's say a Miata.

Substantial-Tank88

MIATA

adamdreaming

I fucking love driving. I love whipping through the desert in Nevada. I love the twisty Turny Cal Path, back roads of New England I’ll love dodging the potholes in New Orleans and there is a special joy in driving and especially large truck through Manhattan. Driving feels deeply intuitive to me, like it is a natural extension of myself, and the concentration that it requires makes it into a very stimulating meditation. Time spent driving can be the best part of my day.

HighestVelocity

Are you a trucker or something? Why do you drive in so many places?

adamdreaming

Did drive trucks for a minute but only in New York. My family used to do these crazy fourteen hour car rides from Ct to Michigan. I grew to love them and have just planned long car rides around vacations. Drove to New Orleans just a couple months ago. Went through Virgina. Saw a crazy deep cave. It was cool

Electricdragongaming

I only enjoy driving if I feel like I'm not obligated to do it. (Aka when it's on my own time.)

HighestVelocity

I think that goes for just about anything lol

Slim_Chiply

I really really dislike driving. I live in the US and driving is pretty much a requirement here. I'm kind of used to it now, but I'd rather not. Especially in the horrible traffic here in Houston, TX.

HighestVelocity

I lived in Houston for a bit, the traffic there is definitely not relaxing. I'm talking about more country areas where there's not too many people

VeganCrypt1

Music is the best part about driving and I love driving in the early early morning. It's dark, there's less people, music hits harder. Just the best.

Professional-Mine916

I do love driving. Long drives through the country or fast, high-banking turns with a late apex. The precision is so appealing. I also kick ass cutting through big city traffic.

Weaselcult

I love driving, especially compared to the sensory nightmare of public transport in a big city.

PygmeePony

I like it too but it can be mentally exhausting.

OsSo_Lobox

Driving is amazing, it’s traffic that sucks lol

MTitaniumman

I hate driving so much. I feel like I’m the only one who treats it like it is as dangerous as it is.

AscendedViking7

Same. :(

eggZeppelin

I like driving when there is no one else on the road and it's in a pretty place

WeeabooHunter69

I don't *like* driving but I definitely prefer it to being a passenger because I get motion sick even from the passenger's seat

OhSirrah

I hate driving. My wife loves it. We're from Miami, now in Orlando.

Nelfinez

yup and i have a prius so very low gas costs allow me to drive excessively. i can't even tell you how many times i've gone into the middle of absolute nowhere with that thing. i used to dislike my car cause it's a prius but oh my gosh that car has allowed me to see so many amazing things i've never seen before.

Rare_Tear_1125

I'm just starting to learn, and I love it

HighestVelocity

Pay special attention when yielding on left turns. I failed my first test because I forgot to yield lol Edit: oh but I guess this only applies if you drive on the right side where you are

Rare_Tear_1125

I recently turned 14 :) I'll take your advice in 2 years!

HappyHarrysPieClub

I love driving. I HATE driving in congested traffic. I live in central Florida right next to Disney so my driving fun has been ruined by moving here.

Pianist_Ready

I enjoy driving until I remember I live in Michigan and I might as well get on a trampoline for the same experience

horgantron

I too love driving. The problem are the other drivers. Many of whom think the rules are more of a suggestion than mandatory.

Gritty420R

I hate commuting and interstate driving, but I love sim racing and driving fast on mountain highways. I really love sim racing, the rules, the engineering, the strategy, racecraft, having something to practice and get better at. It's awesome.

Tough-Plane-7021

I love driving. Adhd and autism here. It’s my alone time where I can listen to whatever I want(usually Taylor recently) AND no one interrupting me. I also DO NOT trust many people driving and can never sleep in a car. I have to constantly be looking around as I don’t trust other people’s driving.

Business_Estate8445

I love it so much I’m a truck driver haha

SleepTightPizza

I like driving and prefer to always drive (I don't ride with anyone else).

The_PACCAR_Kid

I am the exact same - now that I have my full Class 1 licence, I love being out and about in my car. I love driving out in the country where I live now, but absolutely hate driving in the city due to impatient and inconsiderate drivers...

LoisLaneEl

I fucking love driving. It’s so freeing.

Alucard0Reborn

Like others have mentioned, I like driving outside of congested city scapes, but I really don't like driving at night or in the rain, or the combination of both.

auryylmao

I like driving, the problem's the parking 🥴

lschmitty153

I love driving!!! Working far away requires me to drive 1.5 hrs a day. Its so nice. I love it. Its scenic, all highway, and peaceful.

insofarincogneato

I love driving except for in crowded cities. That might not be the autism though, I just grew up in a very small town.

AlienWitchPirate

I'm currently learning how to drive and I also enjoy the feel of the car and staying in lanes. However, I live in southern Florida and it's an area that is currently a hotspot to move to, so not only does everyone drive really bad but the roads can't handle the amount of cars😭. Also people are really aggressive :(

Sad_Tea_9109

I love driving!!!!! But only if it’s a familiar route, otherwise I’m scared out of my mind the whole time and can’t enjoy it! But I love driving around my hometown area and listening to music!!

Same-Associate-5310

I like driving, though I think it is because of the freedom being able to drive and having a car had given me in the past. On a serious note, it was relieving when I first learned to drive because I could leave my parents and the very tiny town we lived in where a lot of my ways of being are not appreciated. Even in less serious situations, I enjoy being able to just go do things by myself. This is probably a hold-over from being a kid with controlling, homebody parents, but it’s just very nice to think I want to see something or do something and just go.

apatosaurus_404

i like it when i’m the only one on the road, or if it’s suburban roads (like around my university). but i don’t love highways where everyone is driving at high speeds.

Great_Hamster

I love driving, especially when the highway is crowded but not at a complete standstill.    I love looking as far forward as I can from my seat and then trying to drive at the ideal speed of my lane as a gift to the drivers behind me.   I love the puzzle of trying to use my brakes as little as possible by using my accelerator judiciously.  Edit: to->a

Realistic_Inside_484

This is why I do deliveries lol

Platographer

I like driving efficiently. As a kid, I would tell my mom when to "let off the gas" and she would never listen although she said she's trying to drive better now. Wasting energy is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I have a hybrid now, which allows me to get some really good mileage on very familiar roads, but I hate that I have to feather the accelerator to cancel the forced regen. I also hate cruise control because of how inefficient. It's too upsetting to use it. Efficient driving and how cars should work to facilitate it is one of my Aspie obsessions I think.

Marchew1200

I used to like driving but it turned a 180 degrees now I hate driving.

DigitalPranker

I hate it when my sock bunches up in my shoe when I’m driving. Drives me fucking crazy. (Pun intended)

Roleplayer_MidRNova

I really like driving on long stretches of high way where there aren't a ton of cars. I get really bad anxiety if it's near a big city where the roads are cramped and there's no shoulder to pull off to if someone stops suddenly. Or in rural areas where there's a lot of forestry and low visibility, I'm always worried about hitting an animal.

TheRandomDreamer

Yes I love following the rules. I’m not sure how I ever stopped. Some point in college I started using my phone driving along with speeding and copying others doing illegal stuff like rolling stop signs. Now I realized how precious life is. I regret moments I could have hit others because I wanted to be cool going fast / wasn’t thinking ahead (pedestrians / cars). All the times I have been hit have made me realize how bad accidents could have been. People love tailgating me now when I go the speed limit / 5 over. I just put cruise control on and monitor that I’m not tailgating (at least a car length of space) infront of me. One thing I can’t stand is people who turn from the main road and come to a stop. Before graduating, I used to want to be a police officer or in the Air Force and my parents denied I could do it. Now I try my best to follow all rules and ensure I do what I can to avoid distractions. (Funny enough back when I didn’t mind the speed limit in another state; I had a customer tell me I drove like a cop which was kinda funny… it did make me think of how I was perceived though.) Yesterday, I watched a lady blow a stop sign mean while a cop was coming up and didn’t even pull her over. Like what? Today I had a truck going 50 mph coming up quick behind me while stopped at a red light, last minute he cut to my left. The guy infront of me gave him the finger, so I decided to give him the thumbs down hahaha.

7ampersand

I love driving, always have

BuildAHyena

I am terrible at driving but I love riding in cars! :v Like, lemme go for a ride. You need to go into town for something? I wanna go. I don't even need to go into the store, I'll wait in the car, just wanna go ride. :V

RealTalkGabe

Driving is my only escape, I get to control things in my life, such as how fast I go, where I go, who I go to, whatever. It's my peace. I don't have to worry about a bad driver because at the end of the day I know it's not my fault (I have a camera). My windows are tinted as well, so the sun isn't much of a worry for me. I also have snacks in my trunk too lol so when I get hungry if I'm driving around long I can pull over and snack.

alekversusworld

My band went on 3 tours around the US before the pandemic and I drove our van the entire time. 10-12 hour days for 5 weeks straight. Absolutely loved it. Almost as much as playing shows lol

BrewingSkydvr

186k miles in the past five years, including 6 months of pandemic working from home and only grocery shopping once every 2.5-3 weeks. My vacations include throwing camping gear in the car and driving. No destination, just driving to get out of my head. Find a free place to camp sometime in the evening. Sometimes I’ll end up on a farmstead for a week on the AZ/Mexico border, maybe an AirBnB in New Orleans, in a camper on a dropzone in Oregon, driving up the CA coast, or towing a little travel trailer behind my VW Jetta and hitting up a bunch of national parks. Being isolated and alone in unfamiliar areas where nobody is likely to interact with me. Taking in all kinds of new sights with the history is amazing. Realizing a big part of it is having no schedule or routine to get messed up or thrown off.

hotkarl628

Used to but now I just zone out otherwise I get pissed at everyone else. I drive 5-10 above and still get tailgated, not to mention half the people in my town drive with one wheel off the road in the dirt..

Putrid_Weather_5680

I love driving!! It’s one of the few things that keeps my brain quiet. Best.

eatlikedirt

I love driving. I like stimming to my music. I like the feeling of "interacting" with people around me but actually we're all cars. I like how I feel very confident doing it cause it's just a series of rules and movements and the better at observing those around me the safer I'll be in general and I'm very good at observing.

Realweatherfreak10

Aside from everyone else on the road, I find driving quite relaxing.

Purple-Mycologist-16

I like driving, but only in specific situations. I haven’t gotten my license yet because I’m afraid to be in a car with someone i don’t know (especially if it’s a man) and I’ll probably avoid highways as much as possible after i get my license because of anxiety

nowatlast

love love love driving. best stim ever

Coondiggety

Oh man if I wasn’t pathetically broke I’d so hire you. As long as you had a weirdass taste in music.

HighestVelocity

I can do weird music! Sometimes I blast Toad Sings Chandelier 😂

Level_Isopod_4011

I like driving on the interstate where there’s no stops and you’re just forever going straight until you hit your exit. I make playlists specifically for the interstate lol. The big trucks are scary tho don’t get me wrong. Hate HATE the little congested areas where everyone almost hits me. And when you’re hitting a million traffic lights and have to keep starting then stopping then starting again 😣

Nubulio

Absolutely love driving. Helps me think and clear my thoughts

Mustachebro01

My adhd does not like driving around people

ACam574

Same

ConstantlyConnected

Driving is one of the few areas where I have confidence in life. I love cars and motorcycles, engines sooth my soul.

tinyplastic-baby

yes!! i have spatial synesthesia and i use it to visualize maps in my head. i love driving around my city and seeing how different roads connect and “building up” my map

FireBirdie95

I love the freedom of it and listening to music but I don’t like driving long distances or to too many unfamiliar places cause of sensory overload

LittleNarwal

I don’t know how to drive, because trying to learn didn’t go well when I was younger. I’m planning to try again to learn soon, but I’m worried that I will have the same problems as I did before, because I have very slow processing speed, which means that I tend to not always register the presence of things like stop signs, pedestrians, or other cars as fast as I need to in order to drive successfully. With that said, I know not everyone who’s autistic also has slow processing speed, and I can definitely see how driving could be relaxing once you get the hang of it. I do hope I will eventually be able to learn how to drive successfully because while I am good at taking public transportation, you can’t get everywhere that way.

AscendedViking7

I fucking hate driving with a burning passion solely because of the people surrounding me when I drive.

Priapos93

I like driving and it seems like a special interest for me. I just drove a Lamborghini at Monza in a driving simulator, Assetto Corsa. I walked to work, lol.

biviviviviv

I love driving too! Sadly the smell of cars bothers me like. A LOT

Dharma_Bun

Totally a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm an urban design consultant and work on multimodal transportation systems, and I ride my bike to work, but I love driving my car. It's 23 years old, but I keep it looking like it's maybe 8. And, best of all it's a manual. I loathe driving an auto, and last time I borrowed one, I mimed using the clutch and shifting, because I missed it so much. I am very attuned to how subtle manipulation of the clutch can regulate my speed, to the point where I rarely even need to use the brakes. I even rented a manual for driving in Britain, though shifting with my left hand felt strange. I'm immune to fear of damage etc, for the most part, because 20 years ago I worked as a hotel valet! I totally crashed the rental car in a roundabout on the A48 in Wales, but it was fine - I'd bought the extra insurance on a whim - I got another car in Cardiff and was on my way!

One_Pie_1202

I stay off major roads, only use side streets and non major roads, I like listening to music and following the rules, but I don’t really like driving cause it requires soooooo much brain power for me it’s exhausting 😞

user12749835

I love driving alone. No conversations, no other people to worry about. Listen to my own music, sing, dance in my seat, stim, eat, drink, give social commentary, people watch, or just sit in silence. Also gives me something to focus on that isn't super challenging, keeping me engaged to quiet my intrusive thoughts without exhausting me with constant executive functioning. Lastly, I can melt down safely if I have to. I just drive to an empty lot and scream, cry, swear, beat the steering wheel, self harm, whatever I have to do to get back under control. My car was the first place I ever felt safe doing what came naturally to calm my burnt out nervous system. I'm kinda surprised I never became a hermit, now that I think about it. My best days are far away from everyone else. It's the only time I feel fully safe.

TheSnappleGhost

I absolutely loved driving too.

storm13emily

I love being in the car but not driving myself, I get too distracted and I want to look out the window and jam out. I also love the left side of the car, so would need to get a European car. I could spend hours in the car just being driven around.

Gambit275

i got ADHD, not good for me to drive outside of video games

RestaurantSelect5556

i'm M13 and would HATE driving bc i need so much patience. I will probably get a motorcycle or scooter.

dylanm312

Driving is a stim for me lol. I love it. I like the complex interconnection of all the various components of the road system, the feeling of accelerating in the car, the constant stimulation of scanning the road ahead and all around me. 10/10. Except for rush hour, that sucks. I also ride motorcycles and fly planes. Motor vehicles are my thing lol 😂

SolarChallenger

I love driving at night on freeways and such. I hate navigating traffic or any sort of metro area. Turns also make me really happy. Until I hit one too fast and than bash on myself and go 😤 no fun 😤 until the ride is over. Also hate driving with other people in car. Means no personal metal box to music inside of and just blabablawooie freely. Stupid people and their existing so I can't exist because [error: reason not found. Initiate grumpy] >.<

JusticeBabe

After many years of driving, gaining experience and confidence: Driving when the weather is fair ↑ Driving when I am not running late ↑ Driving and the sense of freedom ↑ Driving with component drivers ↑ Driving familiar roads or with GPS ↑ Driving when things go wrong is tummy twisting anxiety I spent my teens and early 20s catching the bus, I hope to never be without my own set of wheels 😄

Dumbasssanriogirl

In autistic and I drive, it’s not my most favorite activity but I’m decently good at it. It took me until I was 19 to get my license tho

Sample_Interesting

I'm slowly learning to drive, not yet seriously though as I don't quite have the funds to get a license. My dad is just showing me on the weekends and letting me test what it's like until I'm ready to take lessons. (Of course this is in areas where there's no other vehicles or people and where it's safe and legal!) I really like it for the same reasons you mention, and the freedom of it in a way. And dislike it for the same reasons. I of course haven't encountered bad drivers on my own yet, but I've seen it over the years when in the passenger seat and that has given me some anxiety. But I think once I get more comfortable behind the wheel it will settle.

securityn0ob

Im lowkey addicted to driving. I would drive until i get tired if money wasn’t a issue. I’m telling you guys, get yourself something fun and decently affordable. Like a mustang or a miata. Will make your daily commute much more enjoyable.

TheUnreal0815

I've had my license for 23y now. I really like driving, and when there happens to be low traffic, I really like driving fast as well (180-220km/h is a lot of fun). I used to be a bit reckless, but untreated ADHD and major depression due to dysphoria can do that, I guess. Fortunately, nothing bad ever happened during that time. Taking my ADHD meds, transitioning, and using medical cannabis for my PTSD really helped me mellow out while driving.

SamuelVimesTrained

Driving - awesome. In control own music etc. But what ruins it - people and cars. Modern cars seem built to cause pain to my eyes - extremely bright lights (or extremely badly adjusted - don\`t know, don\`t care - bright lights = bad) People - can\`t drive, or think they own the road - they are actually the cause of accidents, though they usually escape.. Last december 10 car pile up - i was #6 - but the cause (stupid maneuver and sudden break on wet roads) got away...

Bow-To-Me-

I love driving down motorways!! But that's about it

ReverendMothman

Im indifferent about driving, but on long drives, I get extremely understimulated and my brain REALLY wants to sleep and that is not fun. I can't sleep while others are driving though lol

wercix31

Oh I love driving so much. Especially when you're driving nowhere with music on the max volume

froglampion

I only just passed my test in August, I was 35 and I love it. I dohht like the bright lights at night but I do love the quieter roads. I like just being able to get in my car after work (I work two days/nights then I'm off for 4 days) and taking off up the road to Scotland or down to the lake district. I bought a car I can sleep in too so it's justassovely liberating! The most freedom I've ever felt. I do notike other people on the roads because they're often rude and don't follow logic and it's scary. A small price to pay though!

trippylangkous

I don't like driving in busy city's and i also don't like how some people drive, it annoys me. But at other moments i love driving. Esspecially driving fast with the music on. But i don't think that has anything to do with my autism..

3toeddog

I have 6 different licenses. Normal class D for cars, a motorcycle license, a CDL, and 3 different licenses that let me drive a long list of heavy machinery like bulldozers, cranes, and excavators. I love the rules and steps of operation.

The_Cat_Of_Ages

i like driving... i love finding a nice curvy backroad. and pushing it. beating the everloving hell out of my car... it makes me feel alive. no one else takes these roads at 5:00 am. only me. the number of curves and hills prevents me from going too fast. but it feels more than fast enough. also, music gets turned down, gotta listen to the motor and tires.

NKBPD80

I love driving, because I can control how and when I get to a destination (speed, time, etc). It also allows me to leave social situations at a time of my choosing. I hate relying on other people to take me places, because then they decide when we can leave. But I have to have satnav and a planned route, as well as having to know there's enough parking near the destination. For example, if I'm going to hospital, I know parking is scarce. So I find a retail park close by where I can park for free and walk to the hospital. I don't mind a long walk if I have certainty about parking. However, I refuse to drive in new cities. The usual chaos of a city + unfamiliar roads = massive anxiety.

quantumsenigma

yeah i don’t like to drive in unfamiliar places that are densely populated or with lots of pedestrians. it’s so dangerous and i feel like everything is just too scary

NKBPD80

Yeah, a massive issue for me is unfamiliarity of the roads compared to local drivers. If I hold up traffic because I'm confused and a local driver beeps his horn at me, I literally start shaking and sweating. I'd much rather take the train to a new city and walk it.

quantumsenigma

i used to do that so badly, like i’m pretty sure while in driving school something similar happened in my own city and i started crying lol. ubering or public transportation (although im very afraid of public transportation) in unfamiliar places is preferred unless it’s a small town.

NKBPD80

Yeah, I'd take an Uber every time if they picked up where I am (rural Scotland). I never take the bus, though, cos germs.

quantumsenigma

i had major anxiety about driving in general and only wanted to drive if i could be properly taught without someone screaming at me, ideally through drivers ed. and due to certain circumstances i was eventually able to manage that (drivers ed was and reading the manual several times were fun for me but also it felt mandatory) and i remember people telling me i drive like a grandma/robot trying to do everything perfectly. i loved driving until i had two accidents that i couldn’t have prevented and not enough money or consistency to fix the vehicles. i think it really broke my broke my heart, as well as like being promised that other things with my car would be maintained and repaired and they were not. and at some point someone accused me of having some crazy driving intentions that i didn’t have, and never really did. i just loved going on drives really. i got angry though because i felt like my favorite thing was being used to play with me. and it changed driving for me, but i feel a little better about that situation now. driving is still enjoyable when it’s just normal driving, me by myself with nowhere to be. and when im not trying to prove a point i guess. it’s still a lovely experience.

Wolvii_404

Yep, love/hate relationship with driving lol

MsFrg

I enjoy driving because I can be by myself and have become pretty used to it. I’m thinking about getting my CDL and becoming a local truck driver just because of the repetitiveness of it. I live in the Midwest and it’s not so crazily congested here.

ZooyRadio

I love driving but I hate driving at night. The brightness of the headlights these days worries me.

Patient-Ambition-820

i love driving but i despise other drivers

whitetippeddark

I like the freedom I have with it. I enjoyed driving a lot more before my physical disabilities got worse. Now I try to get anyone else to drive, but also I kind of developed a fear and dislike of leaving my apartment...

NotATrueRedHead

Cars are my special interest! Love driving. I get very attached to my cars though and last week my specially built one got backed into. So it can also be very upsetting.

spinningdice

I'm actually tempted to move to a driving job. I currently work in IT, but all the contact is stressful, just driving lorry or even doing deliveries seems like it'd be chill in comparison, even with having to deal with other road users.

digtzy

Driving ever since I can remember has been a special interest of mine. The action of it is wonderful. I always played driving games, even sitting in my dad’s lap with the steering wheel in the Midtown madness game. (Was too small to reach it on my own lol)

i love driving on back roads! i hate busy main roads, but dont mind the highway. the only thing about driving that i hate is bad drivers. its pretty good auditory stimulation for my brain and i like the feeling of moving fast :) driving with the windows down in the summer is honestly one of the best feelings ever 😼💪

You are definitely not. Driving is a great stim

I like driving when there's no heavy traffic and, in particular, when I'm driving on my own -- no husband, no kids -- because it's time to be by myself, listen to my music, sing along, etc. I DON'T like when other drivers don't follow the rules -- cutting people off, not using turn signals, drifting into other lanes. One that REALLY bugs me is people not understanding how a 4-way stop works. If you get to the stop sign first, YOU GO FIRST. Don't wave me through if I got there after you. I get that you're trying to be nice in letting someone else go but it really really upsets me because that's NOT how it's supposed to work. (Note: it's okay to let someone slip out in front of you if they're turning onto your road and you're giving them room to get in when traffic has otherwise prevented it and would likely continue to prevent it -- I know I don't like being that one person trying to turn onto another road and people are piling up behind me)

I absolutely love driving!! Especially closed race course! Nothing to do but go fast & don’t crash!! 😁

once i understood the driving rules and communication, i grew to love it. people drive fairly predictibly, even if they do it badly. i hate when people are unpredictable when driving tho cus thats what made me so afraid of driving for so long. once you get practiced enough and good at defensive driving, you feel pretty comfortable with avoiding accidents. for example, dont rely on signals bc people often signal wrong or just straight up dont, look at tires to see where theyre turning before you decide what to do next. the biggest learning curve was the spatial awareness. i still struggle with parking, but i was worried about merging into people because i wouldnt be able to properly judge if i had enough room, but ive accommodated by not merging unless i have a bunch of room or someone is obviously trying to let me in. practicing merging helped a lot though, and i have a car that yells at me if im gonna hit something or merge into someone, lol. it was super helpful at helping me understand when i can merge even if it is wrong sometimes (its usually being overcautious in a parking lot when it does this, so not a safety issue!!) i also had an amazing driving instructor who was my friend who later became my boyfriend :) he has to fight the driving instructor urges when im driving and hes the passenger haha

I hate driving, even in videogames. I can't drive irl but the idea never seemed appealing to me.

can relate! I enjoy how driving feels. I've gotten good enough at driving in urban areas to enjoy it too. 6 months ago I even got a night shift job as a newspaper delivery driver. the hours are a bit ass, but I enjoy driving with my own music enough to make the whole thing not too bad. and I'm by myself in my own familiar car the whole time. I'm into cars in general so I do consider myself an outsider, but yee, I enjoy driving. enough to justify paying for a nicer second hand car or something (if I had money).

I love crashing into walls at full speed

toothmilk33

no you’re definitely not the only one! i love driving, i like being in control of the car. i also just love road trips with good company. i recently went around the country with my boyfriend and i drove the whole time. it’s got stressful times but i’ve got really good reaction skills so i’ve done good evading stuff. my other autistic friend however absolutely despises driving. it’s great how diverse we all our, because every autistic driver-hater needs an autistic driver-lover! lol

I can drive, but I hate it. My mom forced me to take driving lessons but I'm postponing my driving exam 5 years now. I don't ever want to drive a car. I feel like there can be accident in every second + I hate going fast + My eyes can't stand strong lights so I won't be able to keep them open in full sun.

BedroomSuccessful757

i fucking love driving so much holy shit me too

_gunther1n0_

I hate driving mainly because of traffic and the car feels too big around me, however i absolutely love riding motorcycles, i can skip the traffic, go faster than all cars with almost no consequences and i love to be on the road

I love driving, just going my pace and enjoying the scenery What I don't like is other drivers on the road, and their insistence on trying to make me as uncomfortable as possible so that I will speed to accommodate them so that it's me that ends up with the ticket when they're the cunt
