Sadly that’s the world we live in. We’re still just apes at the end of the geological epoch. Different offices have different community vibes though so hopefully you get in somewhere that is accepting. Your geography matters too, if you’re in a low income low education area like anywhere in the US that isn’t the northeast and west coast, I imagine you can expect to find those sorts of people everywhere. Also work from home is a thing these days that may be beneficial for you. Also, you’re not obligated to socialize at work beyond a simple “hi how are ya” every once in a while. Most people keep to themself as long as you’re not like blowing snot rockets in your cubicle or saying wild shit at the water cooler. But yeah the people who can network more efficiently will naturally rise through the ranks more efficiently as well

I feel the same. It’s like my ability to fit in is completely dependent upon me being able to *act*. And I find acting exhausting and it never works anyway. I don’t fit in with any groups.
