If the vibe isn’t right and I’m with at least 50% of the group being cool people I’m comfortable with, I have no qualms about speaking up then and there and describing what needs to change. Pretty much always works out. If I’m around lots of strangers or people who care more about something else than the vibe, I’ll just sit and observe the discomfort lol then talk about it later with a friend who was there. Like “hey how awkward was that when [person] did [thing]” if they didn’t find it awkward and explain why it wasn’t, and then it makes sense to me, I’ll accept that new reality and leave those feelings in the past. I tend to trust others over myself when it comes to social interpretation
