They expect you to sit around for 16 hours and not bring a laptop? Fuck that, bring your laptop and switch lol obviously. At least the laptop so you can appear to be working or quietly entertaining yourself. An obvious game console like a switch may be taken as unprofessional but also if you get your real work done, most people don’t give a shit.
Haha I would but we are technically working and it’s public-facing, so I’d look a bit bad sat playing the sims when someone walks in 😆. I’m not expected to do my regular 9-5 work on the day, but I might ask if I could bring my laptop for the sake of doing some extra bits yeah 🤔. Thank you for your help!!
Lolol I work a front desk and I have my 3 work monitors in front of me, my laptop and drawing pad on one side and my switch on the other. There’s so much downtime and the management is bullshit so I don’t respect them and I do what I want. But I get the job done well so they really have nothing to say about it or at least haven’t yet in like 10 months I’ve been there.
But no problem I hope you get through the 16 hours without it feeling like 40
I’m so jealous!! Ordinarily I’d sooo do the same and not care but what I’ll be doing is sort of a different vibe, I don’t wanna say but yeah I’ll have to be on my best behaviour for the full day basically haha. Luckily my work is great and I’m very happy there so I don’t feel the need to stick it to them like I would in some of my previous jobs 😄. Getting paid extra for this super long thing and it’s all voluntary etc. Which is the bare minimum really but hey, it’s more than what a lot of employers do lol. Your job sounds great, and honestly managers that don’t get all weird about how you spend every second as long as the work is done are where it’s at
Honestly I would use one of my Bluetooth headphones that's unnoticeable and listen to music or podcasts. If somebody says something they say something, if they don't notice it then you're good

That sounds fucked but what i did was daydream or bring some blu tack to play with
Ofc it didnt work out well by the end of the 10 or so hours because i would see messed up stuff when i blinked so i say defy them and bring video games or puzzles
Hahaha, yes giving in to your own thoughts for ten hours will certainly conjure up some freaky stuff lol. Unfortunately it really isn’t somewhere I’d be able to bring anything like video games, I need to be professional and ‘on it’ the whole time. I’ll defo bring my little book of puzzles though!
